Day 29 of Norvasc generic 10MG. I have swollen ankles and at the end of the day they a little painful. I cannot stay up past 10:30 P.M. I just feel so tired. Periodically my legs will turn red and are hot up to my knees-looks like a sun burn. I have been in a really bad mood lately. Everything annoys me...is this the meds or just me? I was on Linsinopril for about 3.5 months and coughed the entire time until I thought I was going to die. Doctor changed me to this. Swollen ankles much better then coughing all day and night. I'm just wondering if my bad mood is a side affect. Anyone have the same?

These side effects are scary! I just got off of the drug LISINOPRIL! PLEASE, PLEASE look it up if your doctor is changing your current medication to LISINOPRIL! There are 1,800 entries from people who got very sick on it! He now gave me a scrip for this and no way I am taking it after reading these side effects and seeing how sick it is making people. Thanks to everyone to for posting on this site! I am making drastic lifestyle changes with diet and exercise so I don't end up in the hospital.

My experience with Norvasc is headache, stomach pains, depression, and nausea, frequent urination, and my chest feels very heavy about 15 minutes after I've taken the pill.

I have been on Norvasc for some time, but was switched to the generic form a little more than a year ago. I have been very unhappy with the quality of the pill from Mylan Labs. It dissolves in my mouth, tastes horrible and sticks in my throat. Last month, I had it go down my trachea and was coughing it up for 2 days, which included alot of burning. I asked my doctor to prescribe the name brand but she refuses, stating state drug laws as her excuse. I know it really has to do with my insurance company's formulary and she just doesn't want to go to the trouble of getting it approved by them. I tried calling all the local pharmacies to see if another company's version was available ,but they all only carry Mylan's version. I take a lot of prescription drugs for several chronic health disorders, and several supplements and vitamins and can swallow a handfull of pills at one gulp, so I know this problem is not my pill-taking technique. I also started to experience swelling in my feet, ankles and hands about the time of the switch to generic, which I never correlated to the generic Norvasc until now. I told my doctor I will not take the generic from Mylan and am awaiting a call back from her as I sit writing this. I am having surgery in about a week and can not afford to be playing around with my meds, but this is important to me. No one should have to accept an inferior product. By the way, I'm writing to Mylan, too.

A couple of years ago had chest pains then i a saw cardiologist, I was fine, Norvac side affect. If your legs hurt check to see if your ankles are swollen it they are you are retaining water. Water retention= water around your heart, let your doctor know right away, get additional water pill to remove excess fluid. Use to be in the Medical Profession. If in doubt call Dr. and Pharmist(knows better than Dr., he knows meds)

I was recently switched from Toprol XL to the generic form of Norvasc. I have been on it for a little over a month now. I am feeling less tired although i do notice more frequent headaches and some constipation. I don't have any swelling yet but I haven't been on this medicine that long. But I am 2 weeks late with my period and am wondering if this new medicine has something to do with it. I have fertility issues so pregnancy is unlikely although not impossible. Has any other women had any other similar experiences.?I was never late or missed a period and now this is freaking me out.

I have been taking Norvasc for about 40 days. I have absolutely no strength anymore, I am dizzy, and I can see my heart beating when I look at something with solid color, it is like my eyes are flashing as my heart beats. My legs are hard to move when I first get up, and it is hard to get up off my knees unless there is something near by to hold on to. I was having trouble going down stairs until thursday of last week when I could go down them fairly fast. This made me feel like I was getting better, then the very next day I was taking a shower at home after working a full day and I almost collapsed. I barely made it out of the shower to sit on the toilet. My legs were like the legs of a parapalegic for about 1 minute.

After 9 months on Norvasc the symptoms intensified. Very dizzy, weak, nausea from spinning head, insomnia. Num feeling in left hand. Within 24 hours after stopping Norvasc the symptoms started to subside. The heaviness in the chest was there but I thought it was a bad heart. Tests show I have a health heart. I'm diabetic, no meds, and have high blood pressure, I also take Accupril for my blood pressure.

Second week on Norvasc and my formerly very skinny ankles and instep are swollen. Redness on legs all the way up to just below my knees, looks like a sunburn. This stuff is poison.

Started taking Norvasc 5mg about 6 weeks ago. Had mild headaches and darkened urine. After my 1 month follow-up w/my physician, dosage has been increased to 10mg in hopes of a better BP reading. After about 5 days of taking the higher dosage, I get occasional sharp chest pains. Should I be worried?

On fifth day of taking 5 MG Norvask I began severe trembling (like mild convulsions) I ended up in the Hospital ER. The trembling caused problems in walking and with my speech. I obviously was in no condition to drive. My Physician agreed with me that it must be the Norvasc.

when I first started taking it 5 years ago I was always tired and always had a headache. Those symptoms disappeared after a few days. Now it doesn't work anymore. BP was 161/114 even at 10mg. Had to switch to a beta blocker. Norvasc should only be used for mild hypertension

I had extreme swelling of lower legs and ankles. I also take altace. Now I am wondering why I am on both. Physcian changed my dose of lopid to twice a day and the swelling stopped. I still get bad cramps in my legs, especially if they are crossed.

Nervous jittery feeling; wake up in the middle of night feeling like I drank 4 cups of coffee, nervous and unable to go back to sleep for hours. During the day, difficulty moving eyes smoothly across the page when reading. Stopping Norvasc now, had enough.

Dizzy and pressure headache which was very strong at first. Over a two month period these side effects got slowly a little better, but never went away entirely. I switched from taking it in the morning to taking it early afternoon and that seemed to help.

Someone told me you shouldn't eat Grapefruits or drink Grapefruit juice if your taking Norvasc, is this correct, as i eat a l/2 one at least every morning for breakfast plus sometimes eat one during the day for just a treat. Please advise, thought may have found something on side effects about it, but unable to do so. Thank you. Wilma

Just wanted to know if Norvasc would increase appetite.

I am also having hot flashes. Dr. had decreased my haromones, don't think that would cause flashes.

I am experiencing severe hives on my torso, thighs, and buttocks, but usually only at night. This is the only med I have changed recently. The BP medication that Norvasc replaced was Accupril and the doc said I had developed an allergic reaction to ace inhibitors, so he changed me to Norvasc.
