NuvaRing and alot

Hi, i have been on NR for only 5 days, these 5 days have been VERY hard for me, my emotions are screwed all up, i feel sad and depressed when i have absolutely no reason to be. I have never felt this way before, not even during pregnancy. I have been getting headaches, i feel bloated and hungry all the time. I have even experienced flu like symptoms...shortness of breath along with body aches, unable to concentrate. I have been feeling VERY tired. I am a very active person, always on the go doing something... ever since i began NR i do not have the energy to do anything at all. I can not wait to go home and take this thing out of me!!!

I have been on Nuvaring for 2 1/2 years now and have just realized that alot of the symptoms I have been experiencing are related. I guess I was not educated before hand about this product...but now realize that my moodiness, weight gain (that occurred without any change in diet or exercise habit along with not being able to lose it after cutting calories and exercising more), headaches, and lethargy are caused by this product. I have already begun the steps towards getting an IUD insertion (sans hormones of course). However, I probably won't be able to get the IUD for another month considering I have to find a day that works within my work schedule. I am on my off week for the Nuvaring but am now thinking that I will not put another one in before getting my IUD. I cannot take the side effects anymore and want to start progressing toward a healthier life without nuvaring messing up the works. I guess I'm also disappointed in myself for not researching into the products I've used before putting them in my body. Now I know...especially with the help of these websites.

Can anyone tell me what to expect when I stop the nuvaring? Should I expect irregular periods? relief of symptoms? etc?

i have been on the nuvaring for about a week now AND AM SO GLAD I AM READING THESE I have had all the same side effects and was freaking out thinking am i pregnant or what ever..
i believe that the side effects everyone has been talking about are so true.
I am always a happy person..and since i got on the ring i have become depressed and my boobs have gotten bigger and fuller and very very sensitive..
and i'ts made me unreasonable and snappy.
and I feel like I have no life..
it's really awful.
I"M SO GLAD i came across this sight and have heard other womans opinions on the ring..
because i don't feel so alone.
it's just a relief to know i'm not the only one.
This has also caused a lot of tension with my boyfriend as well because I feel so different and weird and strange like I never have before..

I read your post about Nuvaring. I am only on my first ring. So far it seems okay and don't know if it is to blame for my hair that has been coming out non stop also. the hair loss started when I had the paraguard inserted into my cervix. I did some google research and a lot of women were complaining of the same thing. I immediately had it removed but the doc said it was non hormonal. I thought that perhaps my body just didn't agree with the copper that it is made from. she told me about the NuvaRing, so here I am trying it. the hair loss is still there and it has been going on for about 1 month now and I have lost a lot of it. I just gave birth to my second daughter 4 months ago, and don't know if my hair loss is postpardom or related to all these wacky methods of birth control. Has anyone else suffered hair loss from the NuvaRing or paraguard. Does anyone have recommendations on how I could improve my hair and stop it from falling out. when it is coming out the root tip is with every strand. I'm so scared over this...

I LOVE NUVARING!!! I've been using it for over a year, usually keeping it in for a month then replacing it with a new one to avoid having a period. I sometimes have some spotting at the end of the month; then I just take out the ring and have a full period and put in a new ring one week later. I have none of the problems with mood swings that others have posted - on the contrary, I no longer have PMS symptoms.

However, during those rare menstrual periods, I sometimes pass a few thumbprint-sized pieces of an unusual MEMBRANOUS BROWN TISSUE-LIKE SUBSTANCE (cap'd to draw attention). No other symptoms.

Has anyone else experienced this? My nurse practitioner hasn't had any other patients mention it and she can't think of what it could be (uterine lining??).

I am just turned 24 years old. I have done the ortho evra patch before and had no problems.. well two weeks ago i started the nuvaring.. i though it would be good as much as my doctor talked good about it and meaning it cost me 50 dollars for 1 ring.... well the first few days went okay i didnt have many symptoms.. well then i started noticing a yellowy discharge and had to wear panty liners and it made it feel like i was always wet there.. well then there ended up a smell there and yet i was washing the normal amount of times a day.. then i ended up with a uti that lasted a week.. as well as it was my birthday weekend and i spent most of it with mood swings.. mainly i was very depressed and spent alot of time crying or angry for no reason at all.. like every little thing got on my nerves.. i ended up feeling very tired and wanting to sleep alot but then would wake up in the middle of the night with cramps... Then ever since i started the ring my acne has been terrible.. i wash my face and use proactive but it didnt work.. well i had a pimple near my lower lip of my face and it hurt really badly well then this morning i woke up and the whole area around it was swollen and my lip was massive.. and right that moment i knew it was the ring.. so i took it out.. and since ive taken it out ive felt happier, still a bit tired but not as much, and the swelling in my face and lip finally went away.. and when i took the ring out i felt nausea and had a headache.. which was a typical ever day thing since i started the ring these werent like typical headaches they were very painful...

i do not recommend anyone to use the nuva ring no matter how good the doctors talk about it.. it causes depression and everything that everyone else puts out there.. i read this website after i had just put it in and i regret not listening to all the other woman on this site...

I started using NuvaRing last year in June. I have two girls age 5 and 3. I am 34 years old and dont want any children. The NuvaRing is actually my first time using birth control. My period was normal and no weight gain. But I notice that I am very moody, tired and very forgetful. I would black out for 5 seconds. My sex drive is normal. I should remove the ring this friday but starting last week I started to have brown spotting and feeling cramps. I am still cramping and spotting but not bleeding. Does anyone know what is wrong? I called the doctors office and they said I maybe going under a lot of stress and probably due to my age. I started my new job and I am under alot of stress. I work full-time and I take care of my kids after work. Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

I've been on NuvaRing for 3 weeks now and I know after reading the other posts here that I am experiencing major side effects. I have been having horrible headaches off and on for 2weeks now. I've also been very depressed, isolating my husband and my kids. I can't seem to ever get full enough I could eat all day long. I also have random cramping and bleeding. I have no energy and could sleep all day and night if left to. I also have had the itching all over and low sex drive.The headaches are so awful I can't get rid of them, nothing works.I just pray that this headache and pain in my abdomen go away asap,I'm taking this thing out right now.I wasn't on it for BC I had my tubes ties 18 yrs ago I was having a lot of cramping so they said I have endometriosis so they treated me hormonally like that was smart I'm just gonna get a hysterectomy and be freaking done.Thanks to all and to all good luck

I've been on the NuvaRing for over two years- I thought I was the only one, but now I know it's the ring. I have felt more depressed than normal and it stings when I pee after sex and sometimes during it as well- I didn't know what was wrong with me. Plus now, I have absolutely no sex drive which is horrible. I need to go back to my normal self-- I was on OrthoEvra (the patch) before, but I changed to the ring because it started giving me horrible nausea. Now the nausea is gone, but all these other side effects are in play. Anybody have/had the same side effects as me? What birth control has worked for you?? Please help!

Hey ladies I am so glad I found this site I thought I was losing my mind! I just had a miscarriage and have been emotional anyway but I felt like I did not have a grip on myself. I had never felt this way before and was really starting to scare myself. I just didn't know how to explain what was going on with me. I started the NuvaRing December 12, 2007 and took it out on the 19th when I saw this site the first time and I feel better already. I can only image the things the rest of you have gone through but through your testimonies I saw myself heading down the same road. I am usually a fun loving, energetic, funny person. In the 7 days the ring was in I was becoming a mess.I was very withdrawn to the point that family and friends were starting to worry about me and everyone else noticed the change before I did.I was depressed before I put the ring in and it just intensified as the days went on. My mate and I were constantly getting into it and we usually are able to communicate very well. I have a friend also on NuvaRing and was wondering why she had been doing a lot of crying and seemed to be depressed. She even went to the point of seeking professional help thinking some thing was wrong with her. I immediately told her as well. Unfortunately she has been on it longer than me and wants an alternative before her nightmare of NuvaRing is over. I couldn't help it I had to take it out I don't like feeling like I have no control over myself. Condoms for right now will be my best friend and I have a peace of mind.

I haven't been the same since I've been on the NuvaRing my boobs have gotten bigger which is a good thing but they hurt some times, I've also experienced headaches, abdominal pains, lower back pains, depression and lack of sleep, had my period for only 3 days and it wasn't a lot of bleeding.My sex drive has not been the same lately I just don't feel like doing it with my boyfriend at all, I've been thinking that I might be pregnant, but its impossible I've been very careful. I decided to take the ring out and have been off it for a couple of day but I still have some of the same feelings.How long would it take for me to go back to normal? Some one please help me.

oh yeah on my previous post I forgot to mention that I did have a fever blister break out worse than usual but it went away with my prescription. ( I get them a lot so it is prescribed to me)

I've been on NuvaRing for two months now. at first I thought it was great. I had been on 6 other birth controls over the past 6 or 7 years, and I had horrible side effects from the other bc . the first month I used NuvaRing I felt sooo sick I thought I caught the flu and no meds worked to help my flu, I was also very depressed and really anti social which pissed my boyfriend off a lot. I also had absolutely no sex drive ( that pissed him off even more... pissed me off too) I started to have breast tenderness and vaginal discharge the second week I was on the NuvaRing. it got progressively worse as I started to get my period I had heavy bleeding and even more cramps than normal ( usually I am curled up in bed wishing that I could just die the cramps are that bad. they were worse on the NuvaRing) than the second month I started to have weird thoughts and grew even more depressed to the point that it was effecting my life in a serious way I spent two weeks in bed it was horrible. so today I decided to stop NuvaRing I had horrid cramps so bad that I fell on the floor at work from the pain. a warning to all of you ladies that think this is great plz read up on it and be careful.
