Omnicef and loss of appetite

My 19 month old was hospitalized for 3 days with a high fever and all the symptoms that go with ...ie: body ache, fatigue, loss of appetite, dehydration. this took place after a 10 day amoxicillin course. In the hospital they started Omnicef via iv. after getting home he seemed to slowly get back to himself, with a few issues...waking up with "night terrors" cranky, loud, clingy, loose stools. his fever was down but not gone and his cough and runny nose seemed to be getting better. that is until today. we are 8 days into a 10 day with Omnicef and today his fever has returned (back up to 101 to 102) and his nose is running again. so 2 antibiotics down what next. between, all tests in the hospital came back negative until the blood culture came back and determined a blood infection. I am calling the hospital pediatric doctor in the morning to report on his repeat symptoms

My teen son who has autism was prescribed Omnicef after amoxicillan was not helping his strep. We found out that he also had a sinus infection. He was prescribed Omnicef about a week ago. We noticed a change in his eating habits....loss of appetite and moody. Is this normal? Has anyone else have this reaction? Tomorrow is the last day of it. Thank God!

I starting taking Omnicef Feb. 16, 2006 for Chonic bronchitis. Since the first initial dose, I have experienced brick red bowel movements, loss of appetite, restlessness from having to "flip" every few minutes to try and lessen the pain in my back and abdomen, and blood in my urine. After going to the E.R. I had blood tests, and a CT scan. I was told that no kidney stones were found so the problem had to be with the medication and stop taking it. It is now March 1, 2006 and I STILL have blood in my urine. I am going back to the E.R. today, and will post the results of this visit as soon as I can. But, I cannot believe after so many people have experienced these side effects, Omnicef is still being use. My 8 y.o. was prescribed Omnicef and I would not DARE give this to my child!

diarrhea, extremely nausea, loss of appetite, dizziness and muscle aches in legs and lower back pain and sharp chest pain in the upper part of my chest.

15 years old, was put on omnicef for an ear infection I didnt even know I had. Immediately had thin, reddish diarreah. Now have a rash all over body and genitalia. I would not reccomend this "antibiotic" to anyone, seeing as it apparently causes much more serious "side effects" that are for the most part worse than the original issue. The antibiotic has made me sicker than any ear infection. I have experienced loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, and vaganial/anal itching/ burning/ rashes.

I'm 23 and am taking Omnicef capsules for a chronic throat infection. The first night I took the medicine I was up vomiting and then had diarrhea for 2 days. I wasn't sure if it was because of food poisoning or the drug, but regardless, it was horrible. I've also had chronic feelings of nausea and loss of appetite. It's day 7 of the meds on a 10 day regime, and the nausea is making me depressed. My throat is feeling much better though.

My 7 month ol son has taken Omnicef (Cefdinir) for the last 6 days. On day two he had his first "bloody red" diaper with diarrhea like stool inside. I rushed to my Pediatrician to make a stool test which came back negative. Today and for the last days his stool has had the same red color. I'm glad I found more people concerned about the red color in the bowels. I also found my son was very irritated and had a hard time sleeping at night as well as loss of appetite. Unfortunately I couldn not find the discolorization of the stool in the side effect list on the medication.
