My daughter is 14 years old. She was prescribed Omnicef 300mg 2 capsules 1 time a day for a sinus infection. She had only taken 2 doses. Her side effects were: Nausea, vomiting, fever (102.3), body aches, headache, swallon tongue, her skin was a little yellow, she said her skin felt raw, and she felt like the ruth of her mouth was covered with something. I stopped the medication immediately and called the doctor. They advised me they would pull her chart and have a nurse call me that afternoon. I thought about it for about an hour and called back. I told them that the information sheet states that if you experience any of the side effects to call your Dr. immediately, I told them that immediately meet immediately not later in the afternoon. They then got the Dr. The Dr. advised to stop the meds. (which I already did), and they called her in another perscription. They said it would take 24 to 48 hrs to get out of her system. They also said to use benydryl and that would help to get it out of her system faster and help with some of the side effects. I will keep this medicine in mind to make sure that no one else in my family is ever prescribed this again. She has been one sick little girl. I would not recommed this medicine to anyone.

My 7 1/2 mth old daughter was prescribed Omnicef for an ear infection. She has been on another Cephalasporin based drug before but with this one she has had episodes of vomiting (approx 1 1/2 hr after receiving the medication) as well as bright orange/red loose stools. After doing some reading it says that the red stools can sometimes be caused by a reaction with iron supplements - the same that she has in her formula but I'm more concerned over the diarrhea mainly because both my husband and I are working full-time and I can't take her to child care with the diarrhea but we can't afford to stay home for the 10 day course. Of course Lizzy is receiving the medicaiton once daily and although I haven't spoken to her Dr. yet (I'm calling tomorrow( I'm wondering if we should split the dose into twice daily. Otherwise she still seems happy and bright. Eating okay and interacting normally. I guess I'll see what the doctor says tomorrow

I'm a 63 year old male prescribed this drug for a sinus infection. Three hours after taking my third and last capsule of Omnicef my stomach bloated and I became nauseated. Soon I began vomiting and had watery diarrhea. The vomiting stopped after 6 hours but the upset stomach and diarrhea remain after 4 days. I will contact the prescribing Dr tomorrow.

My 2 year old was prescribed this medicine for an ear infection after 3 previous bouts of antibiotics didn't clear up the infection. He seemed okay for the first 3 days, but at 1am on day four he woke up screaming and vomiting. He had very watery stools, and was sleepy. Later in the day I noticed a raised red dash on his legs, back and face. I wish I had seen these postings last week before the docotr suggested we try Omnicef!

my mother who is 76 years, developed diarhrrea after being on this for 3 days. On day 4 she also has started vomiting along with the D, cold chills no appetite. I cant say for sure if it is the omnicef, her Rx wants to see if she has a bowel infection. Her original illness was bronchitis!

My 26 yr old daughter took Omnicef following sinus surgery 2 wks ago. She developed a rash on her face, vomiting, & reddish diahrrea, followed by vaginal & rectal itching & pain. Returned to her GP 1 wk after surgery & was told she doesn't have any urinary or yeast infection. However, she was treated as if she had a yeast infection. The side effects are making her incredibly irritable due to discomfort. Don't know what to do next, but we know she will never take this med again. It seems quite dangerous.
The Dr was quite indifferent regarding her situation.

I'm 23 and am taking Omnicef capsules for a chronic throat infection. The first night I took the medicine I was up vomiting and then had diarrhea for 2 days. I wasn't sure if it was because of food poisoning or the drug, but regardless, it was horrible. I've also had chronic feelings of nausea and loss of appetite. It's day 7 of the meds on a 10 day regime, and the nausea is making me depressed. My throat is feeling much better though.

My son was recently diagnosed with a sinus and eye infection. The doctor prescribed omnicef and since his initial dose he has had diarreah along with a horrible diaper rash. In addition to that he has been vomiting within 1-2 hours after taking the medication. I called the doctor to switch meds and I am horrified to report that they told me to continue to give him the medication that these were normal side effects. I don't need a PhD to know that my son is not ok after taking this medication. Unfortunately, our regular pediatrician is out of the office for two more days. I cannot believe that these doctors whom we pay could make our children worse. DO NOT GIVE YOUR THIS MEDICATION!!!
