I have been on Ovcon-50 for 2 months now, and feel just horrible! I am so down and depressed. I did not take the pills during my green pills week and all week long I felt like my old self again. I took my Sunday pill and woke up Monday morning feeling like I wanted to walk into in coming traffic. The only reason I haven't complained is because I am trying to get pregnant and the doctor said that I need a strong bc to regulate my cycles so that I can ovulate properly. But this is getting to be too much! I always feel drunk or like I am walking in a dense fog at all times. And I have no choice but to take the pill right before I go to bed because the nausea is so strong!

Its been a while since I've used Ovcon but it worked just fine for me. The only reason I had to change my birth control was because they made the copay higher for the brand name and due to drug interactions. Definitely not as bad, if you look at what others have gone through with other brands or methods.

WELL I HAVE TOOK THE DEPO PROVERA SHOT AS WELL. I HAVE ONLY BEEN ON IT FOR 3 MONTHS. HAVE NOT WENT BACK AND TOOK MY SECOND. MY DR. GAVE ME THE OVCON TO HELP GET MY CYCLES BACK TO NORMAL. WHICH IT WORKED THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT. I WAS CURIOUS IF IT WILL WORK AGAIN. SO THAT WAY I WILL BE REGULATED. I AM ALSO TRYING TO CONCEIVE AS WELL. I LOST WEIGHT WHEN I WAS ON THE PILL.

I've been on birth control for about 4 years now. I am 23 years old and I feel like I'm 73 years old! I started out on the patch and hated it because my moods were horrible. Then I switched to ovcon and I hate ovcon just as much. I've gained at least 20lbs from it and I feel bloated constantly!!! I absolutely hate birth control especially ovcon. It sucks! It makes me tired and depressed. I can't stand the way I feel on this pill!!! I'm calling my doctor Monday & I'm coming off of it ASAP!!!!

I have been on Ovcon35 for about 8 months and have experienced the effects as everyone else. I started taking it to eleminate my periods b/c of endometriosis and I have only not had any problems for six weeks out of the 8 months. Since mid October I have not had any sign of bleeding for only five days out of almost two months. This is not normal I'm making an appointment with another ob/gyn to get a second opinion. This is driving me crazy and my husband is getting impatient.

I have only been on this for about 5 days and I just came from the eye doctor because I had very blurred vision, after looking at me eyes He was concerned of more than a migraine. Possibly swelling behind the eyes wich is called "Adema" part of a side effect on Ovcon. My breasts have been extremely tender and HUGE! A little moodiness and anxiety have also been associated. I am going to see my obgyn today and let Him know what the eye doctor reported.
Praise God He heals us and Comforts us Through His Son Jesus Christ.

For ten months, I had severe migraines every day. I was always moody. I switched to Desogen B.C., and I cant believe how great I feel. I am amazed that I could've lived that unhappy for so long by using Ovcon. It is a terrible birth control.

I was originally on ovcon 25 and was raised to ovcon 50 two weeks ago because I have bad problems with ovarian cysts. My doctor raised my dosage hoping to arrest the cysts and ever since I have felt very bad. I have been bloating up a lot, eating and having strange cravings, and horrible cramps but not near my ovaries..its strange....it can only be described as around my cervix. I did have a leep last january that strangely is not healed and it was really not hurting in that area until my doctor raised my ovcon dosage. I dont know..it is very confusing. If anyone else has strange side effects or has any info for who this may be doing this or have the same thing going on...please email me. thanks ya'll! hope this helps. By the way..I have stopped taking the pills and have no pain now. Interesting!

I have been on birth control for about 4 years now. Four years ago, I was diagnosed with Endometriosis the worst stage there could possibly be. I have been on the Ovcon 50 for 2 years this birth control has helped me keep the endometriosis under control. However, since I started taking this birth control I started noticing a lot of changes in my body, I gained about 15 lbs, I have terrible headaches, break through bleeding, fatigue, very moody, bloated, and the worst is the lack of sex drive . I mean, it is completely gone. I can only blame this on the Ovcon. I made an appointment to talk to my doctor about this situation because it is something that is ruining my personal life.
I forgot to mention that I am on this pill continuously; I do not have periods, so the break through bleeding is normal.
My partner and I have been trying to figure out what has caused me to become who I am now. I blame this on the Ovcon and when I go see my Doctor, I am asking him to give me a different type of birth control. When I look back, I see that since I started the Ovcon 50 my life has changed, I was trying to blame this on my Endometriosis. I am 100% sure; Ovcon is causing me all the side effects I have. I would not recommend anyone to take this pill

I had a horrible experience with this one. I was switched to ovcon from ortho-novum to help with breakthrough bleeding. Over the years, I taken probably about 5 different brands of birth control pills and I NEVER had such a bad experience as this. I didn't connect it with ovcon at first because when I started ovcon, I was also stopping a series of antidepressant medications that I'd been taking for years but finally felt stable enough to do without. Everything that happened as a result I thought was due to stopping the antidepressants but I'm suspecting it was all due to ovcon.

I took ovcon for 5 months. Besides nausea, I had MAJOR bloating and water retention and HUGE weight gain. I felt like I wasn't even in my own body but a strangers. Appetite shot way up. I was never full, no matter how much I ate. I got terrible swelling in my ankles and fingers and feet. Breasts felt huge. All I wanted to do was eat. Depression and ennui set in. I had mood swings like you wouldn't believe. I assumed this was due to stopping treatment with antidepressants, but I'd never had such mood swings even before seeking treatment for my depression. Libido nonexistent.

It worked for helping control the breakthrough bleeding but hardly was it worth it with all these side effects. The swelling finally sent me to the doctor, it was so uncomfortable. Dr. could find nothing wrong--blood pressure, blood tests, urine sample all normal. She decided to try switching birth control.

I'm my third day on LoEstrin now, and I feel tons better. Having major peeing now it seems my body is ridding itself of excess water. Body beginning to feel like my own again. Appetite back to normal--I get full again like I should! Mood much improved and libido hasn't been this strong in ages.

Ovcon was definitely not for me.

My doctor switched me to Ovcon 35 after I was spotting two weeks before my period on Estrostep. This is my second month on Ovcon 35 and both of these months I have had brown dishcharge spotting with lots of dark clots starting with the second week of my pack like the Estrostep. I have had no weight gain yet (X fingers crossed that I wont ever) have had nausea however which may or may not be related. My breasts also get very sore about the same time that the spotting starts in the second week and this lasts through my period, which is not much of a period, it is exactly like the spotting except it turns to red blood. ??? My yearly is next month, but I dont know if I want to change to higher dosages of hormones because I've gained weight on them before.

I have taken Ovcon for the past year. I do not smoke or drink. I have normal blood pressure, cholesterol. I am 27 years old. I do have a low iron count. About three to four weeks ago I woke up with a Charly horse in my calf. The pain slowly grew until I was limping. I went to ER and they said it was probally a sprain. A week later the pain was so bad I was could barely walk. I went again into the ER and they found a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis) in my thigh. Dr's said it is possible the pill is related since I had no pre-existing factors. The only birth control I will ever use again is condoms.

Although I've only been on this pill 3 days, I've experienced the worst back pain of my life. I also had severe migraines. Other than that, weird sensations like ADD, and lightheaded really badly. No pill is worth this.

For the past three months, I found my menses to be abnormal. Light and lasting a mere three days. I thought of the possibility of an early onset of Pre-menopausal sysmptoms. One Day I began to hemorage, and it persisted for five days. I get myself to the doctors and Norethindrone, is prescribed. Talk about being dillusional, anxious, hallucinating, irritable, frustrated, crampy, depressed and suicidal. Boy have I entertained thoughts...i almost feel very wierded out with myself. Like I do not like looking at myself in the mirror..Its almost as if I have changed...maybe due to all the bllod loss....i am recuperating thought, but this medication, has done me in...I stopped taking them, bleeding has stopped but now I am leaking and its clear, not urine...and gotch it smells Awful!!Pardon Me.....some medication is just not for everyone....My appetite is completely gone too..

I was prescribed Ovcon 35 for ongoing bleeding associated with endometriosis. I have had the mild headaches, EXTREMELY tender and bloated breasts and stomach upset others have described but can live with it. One of my concerns is that even WITH endometriosis, I have never really experienced bad cramps. After being on this for only three weeks, my cramps are really pretty bad. Secondly, I have gained three to four pounds. I am willing to stay on this and see if my body adjusts. It has helped my bleeding tremendously (so far) and I have not had the PMS symptoms I typically do. My main concern is the weight gain. Does your body adjust to it and the side effects lessen over time? I can stand just about anything but the weight gain. Oh, and by the way...I have been on a few different birth control pills for close to 20 years and have NEVER had side effects until this one.

Well, this is my 1st month on Ovcon. I found out that I was anemic, very low thyroid and I had my period for 1 month before getting on this pill. Yes, I'm a little bloated, but it's not that bad. The only thing would be that I got my period today & I'm not supposed to get it until next week. We'll see how it goes. So far, I haven't experienced any bad side effects.

Hello Ladies,
I have been on Ovcon for only a short while and I CAN NOT stand it anymore. Its only been 1 1/2 week since I started the pack I have experienced horrible headaches, nausea, vomiting, back aches, moodiness, blurred vision, fainting feelings (very light headed), insomnia, breat tenderness, and weight gain. Like many of you ladies before I had never heard of this pill before, but I decided to give it a try but for only a week I feel worst than I had ever felt on birth control I am stopping this pill TODAY. There is nothing for me good coming out of this I am so disappointed that so many women are paying 30-45 dollars for a product and get such bad side effects. This company needs to know what is happening to all of us women out here with these side effects. I have done some research and here is a customer service email address like me I think you women should voice your opinion. Something is not right with this particular birth control.

I have now officially been bleeding for 11 days with no end in sight. i am also strangely hyper-emotional and feel bloated... i called my doc and asked to switch back to yasmin! i cant wait to feel normal again!

Since I started my period when I was 13 (I'm 26 now), they have always been irregular. I have been on and off with Ortho TriCyclen since the birth of my son in 1999. I finally just quit birth control all together (except condoms). These past few years I could go 3 or 4 months without having a period. Since the end of last year, I've been bleeding so much. So, I finally went to the doctor and she started me on these new pills. I've never heard of them before. I started Ovcon last month. Everything was fine at first. I stopped bleeding the day I started the pills which was the day I went to the doctor. A few weeks passed. My right leg has really been hurting and aching like I have a "charley horse". I began bleeding again on February 28th. Only a couple of weeks after I started these pills. I finally stopped bleeding on March 12th. That was only because I took 3 pills a day for 3 days just to try and stop the bleeding. It worked for the time being. Now when I'm back to taking 1 a day, I'm spotting. I can't have sex, even though I want to because when I try to have sex, I start bleeding again. I'm really frustrated. My next appointment is April 14th. Should I quit the pills now and just wait for my next appt.?

One other thing that I realize while reading these comments is that every women is different. We are all gonna have different symptoms and effects from this pill or any pill. If the symptoms are really serious that is one thing, but I think some of these people are looking for things to go wrong! You have to give it a chance. I've been on and off Ovcon 35 for 3 years and I've had minimal problems.

I started Ovcon about 4 weeks ago. I'm not having sex now and I started back on the pill too see if I felt better being on it. I'm still trying it out. In the past I've lost weight on Ovcon and my periods have been very short and light. I've already noticed a decrease in my appetite. I've been somewhat moody but I know that my body is going to go thru some sort of change with these hormones. SO far, I like it and wouldn't change it.

And i am always so tired i can sleep for 10 hours and still not want to get up in the morning. And one side after that i just learned of today is a lower sex drive! ya i would say lower i dont have one! I just blamed it on being a new mom and as i said just learned today that this is a side effect. I also can't lose any of this weight from my son and seem to just keep gaining more! This pills sucks and it didnt even regulate me! I am going o back to ortho-tri-cyclin

37 yrs old - Tried OVCON 35 for bc before and ivf cycle and the first 2 wks are pure hell. Just call me Cybil. The anxiety is brutal, chest tightening and just can't function in my daily activities. In second week and now I have severe bloating and brown spotting. Uncomfortable around the ovaries - something is definitely wrong with choosing this method of birth control.

Well, I have been taking Ovcon for a few months now. Every month my side effects are different. (I am 22)

In the first month, my breasts got really large. but it did not bother me. i gained 1/2 cup size, but the second i started the white pills, they went back down.

The second month i had horrible acid reflux problems.

The third month I felt great but my period was really light and lasted a whole week. i only had to wear pantyliners.

the fourth month i was so very bloated, and my period was very heavy but only two days long.

so far this month (i'm only on day 4) I have been very mean. I feel very depressed and defensive.

I don't really have any major qualms with Ovcon, but I wish it was more consistant from pack to pack.

I am similar to the women on this site. I am 32 with 2 children and decided not to have a tubal ligation after my 2nd baby. I decided to try "the Pill" and boy this was a bad decision. I have been on Ovcon for 1 month now, I have had breast tenderness, severe headaches, some bleeding & extreme depression. Not to mention I can not fit in my jeans right now! This has been a horrible month for me and I am sure for my kids and husband as well. I thank all the woman who posted their side effects, because I thought that there was something really wrong with me and now I know that I am not the only one going through this. Needless to say, I will be taking myself off the pill today!

After reading what everyone is going through, I decided I would put up my experience. I've emailed some of you.. I'm a 35 year old, married, with 2 children. I was on Triphasil 28 for 4 years and then started to get breast tenderness. Doctor switched me to Ortho Triclyclen Lo in November 2004. Was never happy on that because the breast tenderness never went away and I started to gain weight. Why I stuck it out for a whole year, I have no idea. Then the Doctor switched me in November 2005 to Ovcon 35 - BIGGEST MISTAKE. As soon as I started taking it, I started bleeding. I bled for 2 weeks, then had a week off, then bled for 2 weeks, then a week off. This went on the ENTIRE time. My breasts hurt SO bad. No sexual drive whatsoever. I was angry, grumpy, irritable, bloated, constipated, you name it. I was literally in a constant state of PMS. After a month of being on it, my hair started to fall out (I noticed it in the shower). I went to the drs again, this time to my primary, not my ob/gyn and they tested for my thyroid. Initial tests game back normal, so they said go off the pill immediately because there's something going on with your hormone levels that is not right. I didn't take my pill Feb. 4th and haven't since then, I threw it out and let me tell you, I have bled Feb. 5, 6, 7, 8, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, and today 2/28, so far. Hair is still falling out. Breasts still hurt. Still bloated. Haven't lost a pound. Nothing's really changed other than I'm not putting that stupid pill in my mouth every day. So, since it will be 1 month OFF the Ovcon on Friday 3/3, the doctor now wants to do estrogen, progesterone, prolactin, parathyroid, pituitary, iron, and cbc tests to see what is going on. This pill messed me up so bad. I've never had female problems, EVER. If you are on this pill and are experiencing any negative side effects, GO OFF OF IT IMMEDIATELY. There's something w/this pill that is not right and I have no idea why the doctors are pushing it. There are SO MANY women out there that are reporting all these negative side effects, you would think they would pull it from the market! If you want to email me, feel free...

Thanks for listening!

Erica

I always thought that side effects never happen to me but boy was I wrong with this pill! For the first 3 months that I started to take them I didn't think I gained any weight and I was fine. But recently (5 months later) I have gained weight dramatically!!!!!!! (easy 15 pounds) and I have always been in great shape, never gained more than 3 pounds. I have always been extremely tired everyday, and lately every weekend I feel so sick, I kept thinking I was coming down with the flu - I would sleep all day and still not feel any better. I know I'm not pregnant - I am so glad I finally decided to do my research on this pill - Stop taking it ladies, it's not worth it!!!!

I had been taking OVCON35 for 6 months now. As with most horomonal birth control, I experiencED very bothersome side effects. I tried to continue taking them to give my body time to adjust, but.... I've called it quits because 6 months/ 6 packs of pills is ample time. I'd have intense migraines accompanied by nausea & dizziness. Had I visited this site earlier, I woulda have been given up on this product. It's not good that 9 out of 10 responses are negative. Pass the news along- I definitely will.
