OxyContin side effects

My husband was on 80mg of Oxycontin 3 times a day and 40 mg twice per sometimes he would take three if the pain was really bad.
He had a hierniated disc and tried every drug under the sun.
He was on these amount for about a year and half and was well a different person, he dropped down to 80mg on his own ...........he had back surgery and after the surgery really wanted to get off them and be off this awful drugs he suffered withdrawl for about a month and could not drop any more on his own it was too much to bear so he did the methadone maintenace program and got off the oxy you stop the oxy the day you start the methadone, the methadone takes away the craving an need for oxy anyhow he did the methadone maintenace for 3 months he came down in large amounts on his own he started at 15mg and came down from there to 10 and then in singles coming off the methadone was also so brutal and he went through hell with it...........he is now pain free and drug free expect for the occasional anti inflamm he is so so grateful to be off the oxy and able to live a normal life he never wants to touch that drug again.
I want all those out there addicted to this drug to know you are not alone and there are groups and doctors that can help you get off this awful drug and live like a human being dependant only on oxygen food and water and not opiates you are sick and need help and my heart goes out to all of you and your families and I hope you can find the strength and courage to do what my husband did.

I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCONTIN FOR 2 YEARS AND I HAVE TAKEN EVERY OTHER PAIN DRUG BEFORE THIS ONE AND NOTHING WORKED LIKE THIS DRUG.BUT I RAN OUT ONE DAY AND WHAT WITHDRAWLS.I WAS SWEATING,CRAMPS IN THE STOMACH,MY LEGS WERE GOING CRAZY,NAUSEA,LOTS OF PAIN AND EVERYTHING BOTHERED ME,EVEN THE SMALL THINGS.I HAVE CAME OFF OF ALOT OF PAIN MEDICATIONS COLD TURKEY AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WHICH INCLUDED DEMEROL,MS CONTIN,PERCOCET AND MANY OTHER MEDICATIONS .THIS IS A GREAT DRUG FOR MY BACK PAIN BUT IT IS THE WORST MEDICATION TO GET OFF OF IT.REGRADS MR.COOK.

I hate, I Hate, I HATE Oxycontin!!!!

Oxicodone is a horrible drug. My husband takes 10 mg twice a day and his mood swings are something else. The smallest thing can set him of. One time he told me he would divorce me because I forgot to buy him his breakfast cereal. I don't know what to do. If I call his physician my husband may find out about it. My husband and I have been married for many years and we were good friends. We have became strangers because of this 'medication'.

oxies are the worst thing in the world take them off the market

Sorry i was just reading alot of the things people have been writting on here and, my concern doesnt have to do with me it's a friend of mine and, i am really worried about her she has come off the Oxycontin 2 times now and she was put in the hospital both times and, now she is tlaking about going back on them because she cant deal with the pain.
Now i have done alot of reading up on this med and there's nothing really goood even said about it; people have died talking it and others have had alot of side affects, like my firend, now she is 26 yrs old and has a boyfriend and a 7 month old son, they have done everything they can for her to try and get away from this drug but it just doesnt seem to be helping i just want to know what i can do to help her. If you have any answers for me please let me know.

i have only been on oxycontin for about3 months, i have noticed that i have been havingincreased headaches, i only take 20 mg twice a day, but am beginning to notice that i am feeling an increase is needing to be done because iam noticing an increase in sweating.

My husband has been taking Oxycontin for about four years after many other meds that didn't take care of the pain. He has had two failed back surgeries and really needs this for the pain. Some times I think that it's a good medication and other times not. The withdrawls are the most awful thing I have ever seen in my life. He can not sleep, he kicks his feet, rolls around on the bed just trying to get away from the feelings. He says it feels like his legs are on fire. It made me cry to see him like that and I hope I never see that again.

I have been taking 30 mg. of oxy., 3X daily for over 2.5 yrs. I hate this stuff but I don't believe I could live through the back pain without it. I have severe constipation problems, weak/tired all the time, and my stomach is a mess. I can't eat anything like I use to, nor does the food taste as good. I would like to get off this stuff but the withdrawals are so bad that I sweet, my nerves are shot, and I really get angry at the slightes things. What can a person do? Your comments are appreciated.

I have been taking Oxycontin for over two years now and I have had these side effects. One, I sweat really bad, even when I do something like washing dishes. Another one is I have been having pain in my stomach to the point I have to take some pills for the pain. I also know that I am losing more of my hair then normal. My mother use to take this medicine and when she quit taking it, she lost all of her hair. I also know that a friend of mine that takes this medicine is losing her hair too and she is still taking it.I have also had constipation.
