Holy crap this website is depressing! Paxil is not all bad people! I've been on it for 1.5 years. I'm a 24 yr old female. I take it for social anxiety and panic attacks. It takes about 3-4 months for your body to adjust to taking it. You are likely to experience MINOR side effects. I had a lot of sweating, tiredness and HAPPINESS. Yes, I was really happy...its an anti-depressant after all. After that you might be a little more tired than you use to, but other than that it is fine. You can't quit cold turkey, you have to be weaned off of it...just like you will be gradually put on it. I take 30 mg a day, but started at 10 the first couple weeks. Don't get freaked out because of all the bad reviews on here. Everyone just wants a place to whine about their bad experiences and how horrible their life is. Paxil cured my panic attacks and my anxiety. I feel so much better. I think so much more clearly and I don't constantly worry about what everyone thinks of me. Would recommend paxil to a friend.

I was on Paxil for 12 years.
The early years I struggled to stay awake then gradually over 4 ti 5yrs I developed a boundless energy, with a constant elated and irritable mood, my thoughts and behaviors leaned towards the aggressive while highly confident. Never used a winter coat with temps well below freezing, I was always warm. Never needed more than 2hrs sleep each night.
Developed muscle aches, rash on both cheeks and along bridge of nose.
I read up on Paxil and discovered that these symptoms were Paxil related. I took myself off of it. I was on 20mgs then one month of 10mgs after that I quit cold turkey. While withdrawing I felt like my head was in a wind tunnel, a constant whooshing sound going round with dizziness, brain jolts, agitation, anger and crying, After 1 month of being off I began to feel better. If you want to quit you just have to tough it out. Once you get passed the withdrawals it is well worth it. I understand the link between school shootings, criminal behavior and serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is wonderful after quitting to be in control of your thoughts and actions once again. I suggest you never start taking this medicine as it will be a nightmare withdrawing from not to mention the psychotic behavior it is known to cause in some cases.

I started taking Paxil 20mg a couple months ago and at first it made me feel disoriented i didn't want to go anywhere and felt really lost, after a while it started to kick in and i slowly started to feel better, then i noticed for almost two weeks it was hard for me to get out of bed. I would sleep for on average 18 hrs. and the only reason I would get up was the fact that I could still stay sleeping for 24 hrs. and that scared me. I then abruptly stopped taking it because I was sleeping so long and I seemed to be OK. After a little while i noticed my anxiety was really high again so i started taking my paxil again thinking it would help. I started having panic attacks while on it and they were very intense and had high suicidal tendencies and negative thoughts. A complete nightmare and depressing time I'm going to my doctor to see what I should do from here

I was put on Paxil after a recent miscarriage. I had an emotional breakdown several days after the D & C. Instead of thinking it was just hormones, the Dr;s thought I was having panic attacks, which I have never had before. They put me on Paxil CR &Xanax. I did not take the Xanax after the first does because I hated the way I felt. Almost as soon as I took the Paxil I became sick. Nausea, vomiting, total loss of appitite, insomnia, headaches, dizzy, cramping in my legs, and finally heart palpitations. After only 4 days of this drug, and being told I had a "bug" I went to the ER. They were baffeled by my heart problem, because after many tests my heart appeared to be fine. After the ER Dr made many phone calls she discovered that heart complications is a RARE side effect to Paxil. This was NOT listed on the papers the RX gave me, nor is it on the website for the drug. I was immediately taken off of it. Emotionaly I am fine. Physically I have been having all of the same symptoms, however they are decreasing. I will never take a drug again without doing my homework. This hate been a nightmare, and I have lost nearly 3 weeks of my life.

I have imput several posting on this site about how great Paxil CR has been for me. However when I went for my last refill I was told that Paxil CR was taken off the shelves because of problems concering the "Control Release", so i was give Paxil 20mg, which is a lower dose that what i was use to. Now i have been having very bad migraines that last 2-3 days. I get very tired early in the day and feel just wore out to the point I cant get out of the bed as early as 7pm. I have no energy and feel real bad in general. Has this happened to anyone else? I went from calling Paxil CR my life saving drug to regular paxil a nightmare drug.

hi im from mexico but i went to see the a doctor in san diego, three years ago i was diagnosed with anxiety panic attacks etc.. my life was horrible i would never leave my house i was scared of everything even to eat, to be at the movies, TO DRIVE, it was a nightmare. So I took paxil for three whole years and my life was back, i was happy, nothing appeared to affect me i was strong, then i started to notice that my sex drive was non existent. i would never want to have sex, or have an orgasm, i felt very sleepy, so i decided to get off paxil, and for eight months everything was great i had the best orgasms ever it was me again, i was ver happy, until a couple of days m anxiety came back with the panic attacks, right now i would not leave my house, im terrified i dont want to drive anymore, so i guess i have to start taking it again as Sad as it is, the quality of life without paxil is worse than anything even an orgasm, it is just sad to not have it all. Anyone knows how to have a good sexual life taking paxil?
