PredniSONE and anxiety and depression

Hello, I was put on Prednisone for 12 days and made it through 11. It's been about 11 days since I've taken it and I'm still having symptoms. I have such bad anxiety and depression, mostly after dinner. My heart rate and blood pressure shoot up, and I have to pee every 15 mins. I had gone to the ER on the last day I was on it because I was having evil thoughts and crying uncontrollably. They told me it was probably steroidal psychosis and sent me to a shrink who now has me on Ativan until the Paxil she also prescribed me kicks in. Does ANYONE know how long this drug will be in my system? I took a tappered 12-day dose starting at 60mg. This drug may save lives, but it's really put hard times in mine. Any response is*****

After the second day of taking Prednisone I noticed a dramatic difference. I was not in pain anymore from the inflammation. I thought it was a miracle drug, but with-in a week I started to gain weight, even though I eat a very healthy diet. I have been on Prednisone for almost 5 months and I cannot believe the amount of weight I have gained. I am now weaning myself off of it due to Doctor's instructions, and am experiencing anxiety and depression and the pain is coming back, almost immediately. Although it helped me tremendously in the beginning, I would definitely try another remedy before I ever take Prednisone again. They call it the "nasty drug" for a reason.

After I began taking the 12 day regimine for stubborn tendonitis, I noticed emotional side effects such as generalized anxiety and depression=like symptoms. I took the last dose a week ago, however, now I am experiencing numbness on the right side of my face. My tendonitis is still there and now I'm a basket case. I have an appointment w/my dr. this afternoon..When should I see some relief from all this goofiness? Soon, I hope. Thanks, CA

Having my first flare-up in nine years of ulcerative colitis. Other meds aren't working and just started today with 40mg prednisone. I am also suffering from anxiety and depression. Very afraid of how this drup is going to make me feel. Even though I was on it before and had bearable side effects such as not sleeping, energized, and weight gain - I am now 11 years older and afraid of how I will react. I must say that because of this drug - I did not have to have surgery and still have my colon. Hope it works just as good this time.
