after 9 weeks of being off of pred., I no longer have the stomach problems that haunted me for 4 years. The stomach problems actually stopped about a week of coming off of the pred. At least I can go somewhere in the mornings now without being so sick and afraid to make plans. I was told I would never come off of pred. Miracles do happen!
Just an update. Sadness is getting better. Not as dark and morbid as I was. As they say "time heals all" Don't give up. I'm living proof that time will take care of it. I honestly thought I would never feel better. Got a ways to go. I'll hang in there. : )

How about we all get back to what's important? Hello jules! Hello, Matt! I'm now 9 weeks off of pred. The sadness is still there but I'm checking into some info. I was given by jules. Of course the insomnia is still there, I'll wait it out. Saw my kidney doctor (kidney transplant four yrs. ago) All my lab work was perfect! I was worried about being off of pred. could affect my kidney count. It was .8 which is fantastic. It's better than my nurse's. I'm very thankful. Don't ever give up on knowing the side effects will go away. Each person is different and it will depent on the dosage and the length of time someone is on pred. At first, four yrs. ago, when I was started on pred. my hair was falling out like crazy. I even checked into a wig or clip in real hair. A lady at a salon told me about "power plus" It's shampoo, conditioner and a tonic. After I started that, my hair grew back and haven't had a problem since. In the last four yrs. I bought the product about three times. Now I don't bother with it. It's costs around $40 and is worth every penny. God Bless Everyone Trailblazen awayyyyyyyyyyy............

I really appreciate the info. Jules777 I hope u got my apology from the other posts. The sadness has been the worst part after coming off of pred. The weight is coming off really well. What about insomnia? I'm really suffering with the insomnia. I will look into the B Vitamins. Very interesting on what the adrenal gland does. I wonder why they put me on pred. after a kidney transplant? Thanks again for the info. I will take it to heart.

When is this going to stop!? You don't have to keep it going guest 12569 and neither do I. Anyway, does anyone out there have any side effects to discuss? Can anyone tell me when the sadness goes away after coming off of prednisone?
Thanks................

My brother has a nerve disease that affects his legs and feet.
-- By trailblazen | Reply | Private Message meNumbness and severe pain. He has alot of good days though.
As far as the withdrawl symptoms I've experienced are: insomnia, sadness (real bad), tempermental, hands swelling, sweating ( could not tolerate heat or humidity), blurry vision, extreme lack of self-esteem. My hands do not swell anymore, moodiness is better, still have insomnia, weight is coming off slowly and as I talked about before, my stomach problems have finally stopped. I was on pred. 4 yrs. So I feel like I'm doing alot better and so will your son. After reading all the posts when I first found this site, I didn't feel so strange and alone. Of course, everyone is different. Just know he will get rid of the withdrawl. My doctor had me quit cold turkey and that's why I feel I have had such a hard time. Weaning off of it is the right thing to do. I also had horrible headaches which have stopped. Take care.....Keep us posted on your son...........: )
