I have tried every anti-depressant on the market.None has worked for me. I know it sounds strange but it's true. I always have to get back on Prozac. Every medication I'm on causes side effects so I wouldn't know which 1 was causing symptoms of side effects.

I have been on Prozac 20 mg for 2 full months now. During the first few weeks I had a loss of appetite and some mild nausea. Having a few crackers would nip that in the bud. It wasn't a big deal at all. Both symptoms have ceased now. I feel happy and energetic. I think it's a great medication.. I was prescribed this med due to depression caused by my method of birth control. It's been very successful for me...

My husband took prozac for about 1 1/2 yrs. He yelled & complained constantly, never wanted to do anything...Prozac made him a monster!!!
He never believed in a man hurting a woman, he was raised to treat women with respect." MEN DON''T HIT WOMEN...COWARDS DO!" And he truley does believe it! One night while I was making dinner, he was yelling like usual and I said "I don't need this, I'm going to Meloni's for awhile". The next thing I new he had me by the throat and was choking the life out of me...I couldn't get away!!! Then all of a sudden he let me go!
DO NOT LET ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT TAKE THIS MEDICATION! IT CAN DESTROY THEM AND YOU. THEY BECOME UNPREDICTABLE AND VIOLENT!!!
STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like some of you I did experience extream irritability and very hateful thoughts. This happened within a week of starting prozac. It was not until later that I found out that people with Bipolar disorder should never be put on prozac it can make them very volitile and often often results in them thinking about and taking action on violent behavior. If you have this side effect weather you are diagnosed Bipolar or not stop the medication at once and contact your physician. I have always found that using a psychiatrist who specializes in medication to balance out the chemicals in the brain to be more succesful.

I have found that Prozac is an amazing medication with the one exception of very verbal, loud tics. I make an uncontrollable noise and my body jerks. It is strange but I have become accustomed to them actually. Now they only appear in times of sever stress. Other than that Prozac certainly helped me treat and defeat my depression. I was on it for a little under two years whilst undergoing psychotherapy.
