Sudafed 12 hr. , took the generic brand of it. Was taking it around the clock, following the advice of allergy dr. Extreme irritability including road rage was the result.
Then, realizing I couldn't take it around the clock, decided to only take it on days when I had sinus congestion etc. Last night, after taking one of the 12 hr generic pseudephedrine tabs, I noticed I was talking my husband's ear off. Like, non-stop talking, wouldn't let him get a word in edgewise. I was not taking any other meds and could only be due to the pseudephedrine.
As a decongestant, it is great, and the price of generic is cheap. I just can't handle the side effects. will probably switch to OTC loratadine (Claritin)

I have blood in my ejaculations (diagnosed as hemospermia) so much that I have begun to use a condom to prevent the mess... I have some blood in the urine but not visible to the eye. I have take 12 hour sudafed for about 2 years to keep me from stopping up at night. Is it possible that this could be caused from the pseudoephedrine hydrochloride?
Thank you.

After 3 days of taking sudafed cold formula, my 84 y/o mother-in-law began to experience hallucinations. The recommended dose was 2 tabs every 6-8 hrs and not to exceed 8 tabs a day. She was taking no more than 6 tabs a day. She does not have any comorbidities. Has this ever been reported? and how could she be treated?

I first took Pseudoephedrine HCl over 30 years ago while in the USAF, under the brand name Actifed, which at the time was prescription only. Within a day or so, I began to notice a blood-red rash starting to appear on areas of my body not exposed to light. Perhaps the areas were also the warmest areas. I returned to the doctor and was advised to stop taking the drug. Many years later, Sudafed was released as an OTC medication and when I tried it, the rash returned. It took a bit to determine the culprit was the Pseudoephedrine, but since then, I have avoided any medications with it as the active ingredient. The worst part is that the medication is otherwise extemely effective.

Well, I know that there are different effects for different people. But I was taking "non-drowsy" nasal decongesting Sudafed and man, this makes me feel good. It's not like it's addicting, because I only take it when I need to but this makes me feel like I'm floating. Also, its makes me yawn a lot. Here's a tip- NEVER, and I mean never, mix Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride with Ibuprofen.

I took 3 Sudafed in a 24 hour period (no other medications) and the following day was unable to urinate. Later minimally, then returned to normal. A week later I took 3 doses of cough medicine CF with pseudoehpedrine and had the same side effect. I couldn't urinate any faster than a leaky faucet. I can find no other occurances of this or similar side effects.

Was taking Sudafed for about 5 days for a nasel infection, along with Nasonex, and Calrenex. Though in retrospect, this was probably too much medication. But the day after I started taking this, I immedietly began to get feelings of anxiety, worry, fear, nausea, headache and dizziness. After 5 days of this hell, I stopped taking all medications, and probably never take Sudafed again. It has been about 2 days since I stopped taking the meds. and I am still recovering from their harmful effects. I dont know which is worse, having the nasel infection or dealing with the side effects of the drugs. I still have nausea, and slight head pressure.

I was taking 1-2 tablets of a generic brand of Sudafed for the past year to control sinus headaches. It seemed to be the only product that worked! My outcome was a severe lack of libido. Zilch..nil. I didn't even want to be hugged or touched. At 45 yrs old, my husband thought our marriage was over and began surfing the internet until he found what he wanted. I have not taken even 1 tablet since Oct. and all the libido issues are gone. I just control the headaches now with ibuprofen and rest. The marriage is in repairs now that he knows it wasn't him!
