I've gained about 10 lbs gradually since January despite the fact that I started training for a marathon running up to 20 miles per week. I eat fairly decent and while I believe some of the weight is muscle, I can't explain the sudden pooch (not pregnant) and love handles I've grown. I always feel bloated and very anxious. I hate this pill.

I am really sorry for everyone out there that had bad experiences with Quasense. I had been taking this pill for 9 months and I loved it. It had cleared up my acne and I had absolutely no spotting, my periods were lighter and they would usually last for about 2-3 days. The only side effect I had were daily headaches. I do suffer from migraines every once in a while so these headaches were nothing compared to migraines, but they started coming everyday. I talked with my mom about it and she said it could be from the pills. So I stopped taking them. The headaches went away, but other things came back. I started getting acne again, my cramping got worse. I went back to my doctor and I was prescribed an antibiotic for my acne, and a regular birth control that I can take for 3 weeks and I just skip the dummy pills and start a new pack like the Quasense. Still to this day I haven’t gotten rid of my acne and that was my only reason for going on the pill. I want to get back on Quasense because I think the headaches are worth a pretty face. And from reading all the posts I think I got off lucky with just the headaches. Or I might even consider Seasonale if everyone says its so great.

Wow! I thought something was wrong with me but seems like its this wonderful pill instead. I've been spotting for the whole entire time I've been on this pill. I thought my body was just adjusting since I haven't taken the pill for a couple of years. Its very annoying bleeding when you're not supposed to be. I've also gained weight, too after being the same size for many years and I barely eat. Guess it's time to go back to my doctor

It takes about two of the three-month cycles to stop the breakthrough bleeding. After that it is super nice not to have your period for three months. It will get better, your body is just used to regulating more. Keep at it!

I was on Jolessa too, but got switched to Quasense. I have gained thirteen pounds in the five weeks I have been on it, and for the last two weeks, I have really made sure I was eating right (nutritionist) and I work out five days per week and yet the scale keeps going up. ???????????? I feel like a cow. This pill has to go. Like someone else said, I would rather be thin and happy. I also get weird brownish discharge, and am moody. I also recently had a zit and I am way too old for that to start: I am headed for my 30s and have never had acne. I feel bloated so I just ditched most carbs and am eating according to South Beach. I am desperate to get back into my skinny pants. I was a size 4 or 6 before I gained weight on this pill. Now I had to buy some bigger stuff and I am unhappy with my appearance. I think I am going to switch to an IUD.

Has anyone been on Quasense for awhile and the breakthrough bleeding has stopped. I have been on this product for 2 months now and in the past two weeks have experienced bleeding. the last week it has gotten heavier. I don't want to give up on this product so I need to know if anyone out there has been on this birth control and over time the side effects have stopped.

I'm reading through all these complaints and now I realize that it wasn't just me. I'm on my second pack of Quasense and all of a sudden I'm breaking out everywhere, I've started spotting which I never use to and I get nauseated every so often making me question if these pills are working correctly. The first three months I was on Quasense I had no problems but now that I'm in the middle of the second pack all of these symptoms started to appear. I even made an OBGYN visit just to see if something was seriously wrong with me. I'm so getting off these pills as soon as I can. I wish my insurance would cover Seasonal.

I glanced through all of the comments below on Quasense and all of them indicated concerns about breakthrough bleeding. I thought I'd post a comment because I've been taking it for quite awhile now, after having been on Seasonale before this, and I haven't had a problem with Quasense at all. I was fine on Seasonale too but switched to Quasense when it came out because it's less expensive. I haven't had any breakthrough bleeding in quite a long time. If I had any, it was when I was on Seasonale and even then it wasn't much. I wonder why so many of you are experiencing so much bleeding in between. The only thing I do experience every month is mild cramping and it usually occurs around the time I would normally get my period if I had it every month. Other than that, I can't complain. When I'm off of it that 1 week every 3 months, I'm usually on my period for about 3 days and that's it. So for me personally, Quasense works fine. But everyone's body responds differently to medications. I'm sorry to hear that you are all going through this and I hope you find something that works better.

I have been taking Quasense for almost 8 weeks now and have probably been bleeding for about 4 of those weeks. This is the first bc I've ever taken, so I imagine some of it could be due to my body adjusting, but with so many women saying that they did not have problems with Seasonale, I'm beginning to have second thoughts. I had no problem the first 2 weeks, and when I began light bleeding on the 3rd week, I didn't think it was a big deal especially with it being fairly light compared to my usual cycle. It lasted for a week and 1/2, but I never had to wear anything more than a panty liner. My cycle was also typically closer to every 3 1/2 weeks rather than 4 without a pill, so I figured my body was probably just getting used to things. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I started bleeding again. It has still been lighter than my normal cycle, but much more than I would consider spotting. My wedding is in a little over a month and I'm not sure what to do. Switching to a new pill could cause problems too, but I don't want to be bleeding through my entire honeymoon in Mexico. I have not had any other negative symptoms though. No weight gain, no acne, no moodswings.

I was prescribed Seasonale for Endometriosis. My physician told me i didn't have to take the week of placebo pills and i could hold off my period indefinitely if i wanted to. This was over 4 years ago. I went nearly 4 years without a period, that is until Quasense came out and it was like Quasense was a placebo. Several weeks into it i started spotting. I switched back to Seasonale with no break through bleeding for another couple of years when i was given Quasense again through the pharmacy as a substitute. Here i am 5 weeks into this pill and bleeding once again. Seasonale held off my periods even on the placebo week. I think my body thinks im not on the pill at all with Quasense and it takes more than a few weeks on it to start the bleeding process since a week off of Seasonale didn't even start a period for me.
I called my pharmacy and told them about it and they said my insurance wouldnt pay for a new pack until it was time to refill it but they would call to see if they would override that and allow me to get Seasonale. Turns out the insurance company had no problems allowing me to get the name brand pill given the problems i am having on Quasense.
I am pleased to know that im not the only one to have this awfully heavy break through bleeding. I'd say in over 4 years of no periods on Seasonale that Quasense definitely has something different going on pharmaceutically- i dont care what they say about the active ingredients having to be the same to be equivalent!

I chose this type of b/c pill to decrease number of periods after having my second child. I started out w/ packs of Seasonique my OB gave me and have just recently started taking the Quasense. What an ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY! I have been on it for 8 weeks, have gained 10 pounds, and have suffered from headaches. I am so pissed b/c I, like some other women, listened to the pharmacist who assured me this pill was just as good as Seasonale. I had a period, a heavy, heavy period, for 3 weeks. Are these companies ever going to be held responsible for putting ineffective drugs on the market or are the idiots people vote into office going to continue protecting them? Does anyone know if it is possible to take unused packets back for a refund? I live outside of the U.S. so I had to fill my entire prescription at one time, which means I have 3 unused packs that I really do not want to take!!

I have been on Quasense for 3 months and 1 week. Since I started Quasense I have had break through bleeding for the entire time. I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen for 12 years so I figured my body would need time to adjust to the new pills. But after all this time my body should be adjusted and should stop bleeding!!!! I hate wearing a pad every day and I refuse to do it for the rest of my life. I wanted a pill that would stop my period but this is definitely not the one. I would rather bleed for 4 days then not bleed again for 3 weeks. Quasense sucks!!!!

Wow! Very interesting! I was thinking the same thing about this stupid pill! My first 3 months were very spotty, my second pack was better, but then I decided to skip the non hormonal pills and start the third pack right away. I've basically been on the rag since 12/12/07! This is 02/07/08, and I have had this brownish discharge for about 3 weeks! What the hell! I'm pissed because I'm 36 and I'm taking it to normalize my hormones, which have been messing me up the older I get!

I have been taking Quasense for 3 months now and i have been on my period for almost 3 weeks now. It started as a normal period but i am now bleeding so badly that i can't make it through a class without bleeding through. Also, there is a flesh like discharge in my period too, it looks very unhealthy. I feel like this birth control is screwing up my body and I would recommend anyone who is taking it to stop. I feel very sick and am light headed all the time. I stopped taking the medication and the period continues and worsens.

I've been on Quasense for 6 months now. The first pack of pills (3 months) were fine but now I am on my second pack and I started heavily bleeding about a month before my placebos were supposed to start. This has gone on for 2 weeks straight now! This isn't spotting. This is really heavy bleeding-way more than even a normal period, and I have been getting fibrous tissue-y clots in the blood too. It's freaking me out beyond belief, and pissing me off to not be able to have sex this long. For a pill that's supposed to make your periods more conveniently absent, this one is doing a horrible job. I would rather go back to having a monthly period with a normal 28 day pill cycle than this. Apparently I am not the only one having this issue, which makes me feel more "normal" with the side effects I am experiencing-but it sucks nonetheless. I have a new unused pack I bought before this crap started happening. Anyone wanna buy it? I'll sell it to you real cheap.

I've been on Quasense for about 5months now. It's my first birth control, and I was happy with it until I was spotting a week before my wedding! After freaking out, it amazingly (miraculously) stopped a day before the wedding. So I decided to continue with it. It's been great until about 3 weeks ago. I have been spotting (sometimes more than just "spotting") for more than 2 weeks now! In addition to that, I'm convinced that Quasense has significantly contributed towards an increase in frequency and severity of my migraines!
Between the spotting and migraines... I had my doctor call in a prescription for Yaz TODAY.
Not surprisingly... the hubby isn't too thrilled with Quasense either!

I've been using Quasense for over a year without any problems...until now. Usually, my periods are 2-3 days. Yes, I'm very lucky. But for the last 2 weeks, I've been bleeding. Not spotting. F-ing bleeding. Every f-ing day. Why a drug that claims to lessen the amount of periods a year concluded to have this god-awful side effect is beyond me. Quasense needs to be taken out of the market - immediately. This is a worthless birth control pill. I've been on 3 other kinds before (Ortho-Tri, Seasonale, and Jolessa) and I've never had a problem. And I've used Quasense for over a year! You would think my body would acclimate to the drug already. This is complete BS. I'm a healthy woman and I KNOW it's not me. I fully blame Quasense, the incompetent idiots who synthesized this useless drug, and the diabolical pharmaceutical salespeople who pushed for a drug that should not have ever been released to the public. Speak up, brave women! The drug companies won't do it for you!

Well I have been on this pill going 9 weeks now and have been bleeding lightly for about four. I don't get it what is the point in taking a pill to help you not have bleeding when the pill makes you bleed most of the month...it really sucks. Before I started bleeding I use to have really bad headaches every day. I don't know if I should stop taking it or wait to see if the bleeding will stop.

Do NOT take Quasense. I was on Seasonale for a full cycle (3 months) and had no side effects. Then Quasense came out and my insurance refused to cover Seasonale. Now I have had terrible spotting (not even spotting, it is a period without the cramps). I had bleeding for 3 weeks straight, it stopped for a week, and now it's been going again for another 3 weeks. The entire pill pack is a waste because even when I get to the end of the pack all I have is yet ANOTHER period. Quasense also caused stomach irritation and made me sick after eating anything dairy- and I have never been lactose intolerant. I am getting off of this pill ASAP.

I was on Quasense for about 5 weeks when the bleeding started. I would go through the whole day without any bleeding and then right after I showered at night I would have spotting, it was almost so little that it was annoying because I couldn't just ignore it. This happened for 4 weeks straight!! It was about the same amount every day, but did not stop until I stopped taking the pill all together. After I missed 2 pills I got my normal period, and now I will be switching to another pill, do not take Quasense unless you want to be inconvenienced!!!

I've taken about 5 different birth controls in my life and have NEVER had any side effects... until now. Quasense has made me so unbelievably grumpy, tired, and hungry... and I'm losing my sex drive without reason. I almost lost my job the other day simply because I was cranky beyond belief. I'm breaking out like I'm 14 again. I'm gaining weight that took me SO long to lose in the first place. And I feel like I'm going through menopause; HOT, cold, HOT, cold. YUCK!!! I'd have to say that Yaz (name brand) and Alesse(sp?)- a generic brand (not a generic of Yaz!)- have been the best ones I've tried, so I'm switching back to Alesse. I'd rather have a period once a month than have all this negative crap with "less" periods a year. It's not worth it. Seriously. I suggest you ALL try something else. Yaz is name-brand AND cheaper than Quasense AND Seasonal! Good luck to all of you- I'm switching back today!

I'm in the same boat with quite a few: Uncontrollable mood swings and increased irritability, depression and anger. I don't sleep very well and am exhausted after a few hours of being up. I haven't had any acne problems, but I don't like the surprise periods I've gotten. They said they're not supposed to happen (for sure after the first two or three months) and I've been on it for almost six months and I get random periods that last for two weeks. I've gained almost 20 pounds too. This is the first birth control I've been on, and I'll tell ya, it's not fun!

I've been taking generics of seasonale since last november. Up until a month ago, I had taken Jolessa the whole time, but my insurance refused to cover it anymore and now I have to take Quasense. My mood swings and weight gain didn't bother me as much before, but for the past 4 weeks I've been crying over EVERYTHING. I'm so emotional and start fights and get upset over the smallest things. I'm always so tired and I wake up with horrible headaches that feel like someone's standing on my head. I find myself having cramps that I shouldn't be having, and having bowel movements after everything I eat. The whole time I was on Jolessa, I never used to spot between periods, and (thank god) haven't found that happening yet with Quasense. Should I call my doctor and try a new contraceptive method all together?

I started taking Quasense in September. I was fine for the first 2 weeks, and then suddenly started having period like symptoms; cramping, mood swings, tiredness. Then came the bleeding. It is now mid October, and for the last month I have had a off and on heavy clotting, cramps, diarehea. Also, I was never one to get pimples, and have been battling acne now. I have also had a major decrease in my sex drive. The only positive (which really makes no difference when I look at the negatives) is that I have lost a few pounds while on this pill. My prescription was for the brand name seasonale, however I took quasense because I was assured by my pharmacist that it was the same all except for price.
Let me assure you.... Quasense is definetly not worth ANY co-pay, no matter how cheap or expensive it is, this has definetly been worse then getting a period once a month, considering you have a period almost the entire pack. UGH.

I too have experienced what you have- weight gain, severe mood swings, breakouts on my face, decreased sex-drive, and my armpits are sweating something fierce- I mean like never before. I can't sleep at all, and am exhausted two hours after I'm up. Only I'm not going to switch to another pill. I've had it. I'm going to invest in a large box of condoms- one for every room in the house. I'd rather be thin and annoyed that I have to grab a condom than be fat and sweaty and not even want sex anyway.

I gained almost 20 pounds that I can't take off (usually i lose weight with just diet, and now I can't with both diet and exercise). Basically I have a period and cramps all the time, which leads to me needing about 14 hours of sleep a night. Caffeine no longer works for me in the morning to wake up. Sometimes I have headaches which last for two days. So basically I'm paying 120 every month so I can be fat, tired, and bleeding- indeed a fabulous birth control, since I feel very unattractive!

Since the end of June I have been on my period , it stoped for about an week and came right back. I called an clinician and they said for the first three months of the pill your body is getting use to the hormones so I want to know will it eventuall stop soon, or what is going on with my body ,and also is this normal?
