I have been on Quasense for 9 months now. I have had 3 weeks of bleeding during the second month every 3-month pack/cycle. I am getting extremely tired from bleeding so much non-stop. During the last cycle and this one, I have been suffering from yeast infections. I have had one for 3 weeks straight now, and the gyno has given me prescriptions along with using monistat, and it has not gone away yet! I've been married a little over a month, and intercourse just makes me burn badly! I had irregular periods before, but this makes everything in my body irregular. I plan to switch pills ASAP.

I have been taking Quasense for 2 months now, and i feel horrible! I was on reclipsen before for extremely long and heavy periods, and it worked great, but then i switched to quasense and I have gained 8 pounds (doesn't sound like much? I'm four foot eleven!!) I have horrible mood swings and frequent headaches. I am having many digestive issues too, lately every time I eat I've been getting absolutely terrifying stomach cramps, and also just one bite of something fills me up completely! I've also been kind of gassy.... eek! No spotting, which is nice, BUT NOT WORTH IT! also, i have been super sensitive to smells, random things make me gag and i have to run out of the room. THIS PILL IS HORRIBLE!!!!

I'm so relieved I found this site! I've been on Quasense for TWELVE DAYS and I am in a living hell, I feel like a prisoner in my own mind. Ever since I started taking these pills my mood has plummeted. So severely I had to see a psychiatrist! I am not generally a sad person, so when I realized I was constantly depressed for a week straight, I thought of what had changed just recently, and what do you know? This is the pill from hell. Today is the day I decided to just stop taking them all together.

QUASENSE makes NO SENSE!!
I have been on Quasense now for almost a full 3 months. I have just decided to stop taking it. I originally thought it would be great to not have a period for three months at a time, and not worry about becoming pregnant- I already have a baby. Usually when I have my period, it is always heavy and I get very bad cramps. So just having a period every three months sounded great.
It hasn't been great. I get nausea often. Bad headaches. No sexual desire whatsoever. By boyfriend can really notice and is upset about it. Also, I am very crabby. But the worst of it all, I have been bleeding for the last 4 to 5 weeks straight! It's terrible! AND CRAMPING! I thought this medication would make my life better. It's not. It's not fun to do the pad/tampon thing everyday for 4 weeks +!! All while taking care of a baby and working a full-time job.
QUASENSE makes NO SENSE!

I was prescribed Quasense for 7 months ago because I had an irregular period. Some months I would be late and other months it wouldn't come at all. You can imagine the fear I had with that. I think I singlehandedly kept the pregnancy test industry in business. So my doctor prescribed this for me. I never experienced any spotting at all however on the first pack I had extreme breast tenderness. While this wasn't unusual on my other BC pills it was unusual that it lasted an entire month. During the second pack when when I noticed I was no longer interested in sex. This was VERY strange as I normally have a very high libido. Even when I try I just can't get into it. Areas that are normally sensitive to touch aren't. I'm now on my third pack and over the past two weeks I have woke to pounding headaches. It's very frustrating so I have asked my doctor to take me off . I will go back to bleeding once a month for a day and a half (maybe even every other month) if I can have my sex life back without any headaches.

I have to say first of al, Quasense is the generic for seasonal, not seasonique, the are different. Seasonique is over $250 where seasonale is only around $160. They generic Quasense is around $115. How people figure that is any more expensive than your old pills is beyond me. haven't they always cost around $30-$40 a month?? Yes, as someone on the pill for 10 years, they have always cost that much and unless you're used to getting them for free from a clinic you shouldn't be surprised.
That being said, I started with seasonale then they actually switched it to quasense on me and I didn't even know i was getting a different prescription. I'm sure it's because it just came out, I started this in 2005. I am in absolute heaven. In the beginning I had some spotting and It'll happen every now and then, but it doesn't affect anything for me, it is very slight. When I do have my period i seriously go through about 6 tampons for the whole period. I don't wear one at night because it would always be dry in the morning, and I don't have to put one in until after I get around to showering. It lasts about 2.5 days. This pill is a life saver for me. My fiance says he would be happy to get a vasectomy, but then I would have to start having periods every month again if i went off the pill. NO THANKS!
I cant believe I used to live my life having 3 months of bleeding every year! Now I bleed for maybe 12 days a year. I have had absolutely no weight gain, no mood swings, no discomfort during my period other than a slight cramps. Everybody is going to react differently to the pill, that is why there are so many of them of them to choose from. I say at least try this pill. Talk about liberation!!!!!

Oh! Thank God I'm not the only one dealing with this. I have pretty much the same side effects as everyone who has posted. I was on Seasonique for one cycle (which was fine, some light spotting) then the Pharm gave me Quasense. I'm about four weeks into the pack and I've noticed my clothes are fitting tighter and just thought it was holiday weight, but now I'm thinking its probably the pills! For the last week I've also had spotting and bleeding so much so that I can't have sex with my b/f either. Which is the reason I went on the pills in the first place -- more time for sex! I've had migraines in the past, but since going on Quasense I've had two in the past four weeks! I was worried I'm going to have a stroke or something! I called my doctor immediately after reading all the similar posts and had them call in a refill "brand necessary" for Seasonique. The nurse said that the bleeding and side effects were probably due to the Quasense, because even though Pharms prescribe the generic in place of the brand name, they are not exactly the same pharmacologically! If you are having problems with this pill, call your doctor and switch! No need to suffer or "stick it out" since everyone's body reacts differently to the pills. These are expensive and they should work like they are supposed to!

Ive been taking this for almost 3 months im about to take my first placebo pills in 4 days. the first month was amazing, i had no problems and my boobs even got a little bigger which made me happy. Around the 2nd half of the 2nd month i started getting the brownish discharge and i have it every day...i don't have any problems with sex drive..and the discharge doesn't bother my husband because it seems to go away until a few hours after we have sex and it never seems to get heavier. Ive always been a little underweight no matter how much i scarfed down everyday.. and i gained a few pounds so i look much healthier. I used to take ortho-tricyclen lo and i had pretty bad mood swings and they seem to be about the same now..so maybe im just naturally a moody bitch sometimes. Im going to keep taking this for at least the rest of the year until i either balance out and get better or something gets worse and i cant take it anymore.

I will never take this pill ever again. I have been on birth control for over 10 years and I have never experienced anything like this. I have been on at least 6 different types and this crap is insane. I have been on it for almost 3 months and have gained almost 10 pounds in my stomach and waistline, I have constant cramping in my stomach for the last month, I will not stop bleeding for the last month although my period is not due for another 2 weeks, i lost my sex drive completely, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, dizzy spells. all of the above basically. I started taking it because I skipped my period using my regular birth control. by not taking the placebo pills and starting a new pack. I've been doing that for over 4 years and I have never had this kind of reaction to anything. No one should take this pill. RUN FROM IT! if your doctor writes it down... say no... and ask for something else. Because it should be banned. I don't think they tested this one enough. The FDA needs to look again at this pill.

I have been taking Quasense for 10 weeks and I have been bleeding for 2 months. Not period but the brown blood. I've also gained a lot of weight to the point it's noticeable by everyone. My appetite has also increased. Other than the bleeding the pills are fine.

I've been taking Quasense for only about 2 weeks, but so far it hasn't been good. I was sick to my stomach the whole first week and had no appetite. Also, when my normal period ended when I began taking the pill, it was like the last day of my period every day since then. I've got brown spotting every single day. I took this pill so I could feel comfortable having sex, but that side effect makes me feel more uncomfortable than ever! Are there other pills which work better than this? I specifically asked my doctor for Seasonale, and didn't notice until I got home that it wasn't what she prescribed for me.

I am really sorry for everyone out there that had bad experiences with Quasense. I had been taking this pill for 9 months and I loved it. It had cleared up my acne and I had absolutely no spotting, my periods were lighter and they would usually last for about 2-3 days. The only side effect I had were daily headaches. I do suffer from migraines every once in a while so these headaches were nothing compared to migraines, but they started coming everyday. I talked with my mom about it and she said it could be from the pills. So I stopped taking them. The headaches went away, but other things came back. I started getting acne again, my cramping got worse. I went back to my doctor and I was prescribed an antibiotic for my acne, and a regular birth control that I can take for 3 weeks and I just skip the dummy pills and start a new pack like the Quasense. Still to this day I haven’t gotten rid of my acne and that was my only reason for going on the pill. I want to get back on Quasense because I think the headaches are worth a pretty face. And from reading all the posts I think I got off lucky with just the headaches. Or I might even consider Seasonale if everyone says its so great.

Has anyone been on Quasense for awhile and the breakthrough bleeding has stopped. I have been on this product for 2 months now and in the past two weeks have experienced bleeding. the last week it has gotten heavier. I don't want to give up on this product so I need to know if anyone out there has been on this birth control and over time the side effects have stopped.

I'm reading through all these complaints and now I realize that it wasn't just me. I'm on my second pack of Quasense and all of a sudden I'm breaking out everywhere, I've started spotting which I never use to and I get nauseated every so often making me question if these pills are working correctly. The first three months I was on Quasense I had no problems but now that I'm in the middle of the second pack all of these symptoms started to appear. I even made an OBGYN visit just to see if something was seriously wrong with me. I'm so getting off these pills as soon as I can. I wish my insurance would cover Seasonal.

I was prescribed Seasonale for Endometriosis. My physician told me i didn't have to take the week of placebo pills and i could hold off my period indefinitely if i wanted to. This was over 4 years ago. I went nearly 4 years without a period, that is until Quasense came out and it was like Quasense was a placebo. Several weeks into it i started spotting. I switched back to Seasonale with no break through bleeding for another couple of years when i was given Quasense again through the pharmacy as a substitute. Here i am 5 weeks into this pill and bleeding once again. Seasonale held off my periods even on the placebo week. I think my body thinks im not on the pill at all with Quasense and it takes more than a few weeks on it to start the bleeding process since a week off of Seasonale didn't even start a period for me.
I called my pharmacy and told them about it and they said my insurance wouldnt pay for a new pack until it was time to refill it but they would call to see if they would override that and allow me to get Seasonale. Turns out the insurance company had no problems allowing me to get the name brand pill given the problems i am having on Quasense.
I am pleased to know that im not the only one to have this awfully heavy break through bleeding. I'd say in over 4 years of no periods on Seasonale that Quasense definitely has something different going on pharmaceutically- i dont care what they say about the active ingredients having to be the same to be equivalent!

I have been on Quasense since September. I have noticed vigyna discomfort itching and have check twice with the doctor to see if it's a yeast infection but it turns out to be nothing. I have just figured out it's from the pills. It's very uncomfortable I will be changing to something else. The only thing positive about this pill is my breast have enlarged:)

I have been on Quasense for 3 months and 1 week. Since I started Quasense I have had break through bleeding for the entire time. I was on Ortho Tri-cyclen for 12 years so I figured my body would need time to adjust to the new pills. But after all this time my body should be adjusted and should stop bleeding!!!! I hate wearing a pad every day and I refuse to do it for the rest of my life. I wanted a pill that would stop my period but this is definitely not the one. I would rather bleed for 4 days then not bleed again for 3 weeks. Quasense sucks!!!!

I've been on Quasense for 6 months now. The first pack of pills (3 months) were fine but now I am on my second pack and I started heavily bleeding about a month before my placebos were supposed to start. This has gone on for 2 weeks straight now! This isn't spotting. This is really heavy bleeding-way more than even a normal period, and I have been getting fibrous tissue-y clots in the blood too. It's freaking me out beyond belief, and pissing me off to not be able to have sex this long. For a pill that's supposed to make your periods more conveniently absent, this one is doing a horrible job. I would rather go back to having a monthly period with a normal 28 day pill cycle than this. Apparently I am not the only one having this issue, which makes me feel more "normal" with the side effects I am experiencing-but it sucks nonetheless. I have a new unused pack I bought before this crap started happening. Anyone wanna buy it? I'll sell it to you real cheap.

I was on Quasense for about 5 weeks when the bleeding started. I would go through the whole day without any bleeding and then right after I showered at night I would have spotting, it was almost so little that it was annoying because I couldn't just ignore it. This happened for 4 weeks straight!! It was about the same amount every day, but did not stop until I stopped taking the pill all together. After I missed 2 pills I got my normal period, and now I will be switching to another pill, do not take Quasense unless you want to be inconvenienced!!!

I have only taken the generic, but just realized that I have not been able to loose weight after having my baby. I also have had headaches and diarreha. I have had anxiety and depression. I have been to the dr. many times trying to figure out what is wrong with me. I have had chronic fatigue as well. I think this pill may be the reason i feel so bad. Has anyone else had these side effects?

I have been on quasense for 2 months, starting my 3rd month when I started to talk to my aunt about different birth controls. She told me her aunt was on Seasonale and my aunt was taking Seasonale (sp?) and they both hated it! My aunt started to tell me about the horrible 3 week periods and my sister has had the 3 week period of weird dark brown not blood but more of a solid clump? I haven't started to take the pills to help me with my period but after reading all of these comments I'm getting nervous to start taking them! I have noticed about a 5-7 pound weight gain (went to the doctors because of a yeast infection, which I have never had before), I get migraines about 7-8 times a year for about a week at a time, but after starting this new birth-control, I cannot get rid of my migraines no matter how much medication I take for it (and that medication makes the birth-control effectiveness go down :(...) and I have become quite irritable/bitchy with my boyfriend lately. I thought this was due to me starting college a couple weeks ago (the freshman 15, being stressed etc...) but now I'm not too sure. If anyone could PLEASE give me some idea as to what they think I should do as in keep taking quasense or switch to a new birth-control.
