Hi I was on Reglan for over six years for IBS and nausea. My GI never mentioned any side effects from use of the medicine.I have a c-spine injury that has caused some neuropathy. I never thought that symptoms that I have like extreme restlessness, shaking of my hands, feet and toes, sucking my tongue,my mouth puckers,my lips shake,my jaws tighten up,I now have a facial tic.I never even considered that taking the Reglan for so long could have caused these side effects until I was recently taken off of the medicine by my GI.He said that long term use could cause undesirable side effects like a facial tic.(Now he mentions side effects after over six years!) I then came home and looked it up on my computer and found all of these sights! I really need to get to a Neurologist one that specializes in movement disorders. If I had known of all of the side effects before taking the Reglan I could have prevented my Tardive Dyskinesia today!! My advice is always check the side effects of any medication before taking it.If only I would have I could have prevented so much long term damage! Pharmacy Companies should have better guidelines for testing their drugs before being allowed to have the drug on the market. We must send a clear message that as the public we demand better practices from our FDA.

Have taken Reglan just for just one and a half weeks to help with my diabetes related gastroparesis. Since taking it I have been unable to read, play computer games or even concentrate on TV. I chucked it yesterday morning and already feeling a bit better. I am gonna try again maybe in a few days just to confirm that this drug is the cause, but it looks awfully coincidental. That's why I'm looking up side effects on the web today, gave them no thought until yesterday.

MY MOTHER IN LAW BEGAN HAVING UNCONTROLLABLE TONGUE AND FACIAL MOVEMENT, KNOWN AS TARDIVE DYSKINESIA. THIS IS QUITE OFTEN PERMANANT. I AM ANGRY THAT HER DOCTOR NEVER ADVISED HER OF THIS SIDE EFFECT.

My mother was prescribed Reglan following surgery for colon cancer. She had delayed gastric emptying and also had pre-existing hiatal hernia and GERD. She was kept on the Reglan for 3 years, now has Tardive Dyskinesia. It is pitiful to observe. She has constant involuntary head jerking (side to side) and involuntary mouth movements that look as if she is chewing. We only found out recently that the problem is Tardive Dyskinesia, when she was referred to a neurologist with suspected Parkinson's Disease because of "stiffening" of the extremities and tremors. Parkinson's was ruled out, instead we were told the muscular stiffness, along with the involuntary movement disorder, is due to the side effects of Reglan. It is a dangerous drug.

My little boy who is now 4 has been off the Reglan for two years. I really thought my husband and I were doing the right thing by putting him on the Reglan at 8 months because he was vomitting blood. The gastric doctor said he had to be on it plus prevacid .Well I WISH WE HAD KNOWN THE SIDE EFFECTS. Now my son is in the process of going to a Neurologist next week because they think he might have Tardive Dyskinesia . He has the symptoms of it on and off for a year now and the doctors have said it is from stress not possible because all of the stress therapist we have taken him to say he is not stressed. I would like to say one thing do not put your child on this drug because it could be the biggest mistake of your life . This is a disease that can not be curred.
