I was on Reglan every 4 hours for nausea, GERD, acid reflux,
digestive disorders, now known as Gastroperisis, Gastric emptying syndrome, DRUG INDUCED PARKINSONISM.
I took Reglan for a few years for digestive, stomach problems and nausea.

I had this progressing over several months I couldn't write a check, my daughters had to do it, I couldn't eat food without spilling it, the tremors just advanced so quickly and severely until the neurologist said I didn't have Parkinson's and too get off Reglan. It took a few months but the tremors went away and I got my life back.

But not entirely, I don't know if Reglan caused the Gastroparesis or not. But I was recently diagnosed with that. Still have GERD, and other digestive problem including the recnt dx of Gastroparesis which there is no cure for.

It really is surprising that this drug is used. I had an episode when I was 18. My parents were out of town and I got a really bad migraine. I called them and they told me I should go to the emergency room. I went by myself and I don't remember what they gave me, but it must have been Reglan. With in minutes of the IV I got really nervous and agitated. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I buzzed the nurse button like 3 times and after 10 minutes and no one came I panicked. I pulled the IV out and left the hospital. Crazy I know but I couldn't think clearly. I went home and after a few hours I was okay.

Well this brings me to 9 years later and to my most recent experience. I am pregnant and I got a really nasty migraine. I was puking, couldn't see out of my right eye. Since there wasn't anything I could take I called my OB. He told me I should go to the ER and so I went with my husband. They said they wanted to give me Reglan and Benadryl, since I didn't know that was what they gave my when I was 18 I said okay. With in minutes I was having the same reaction I did 9 years ago. I went nuts. I started freaking out. I told my husband I wanted to leave. I needed the IV out of me. My skin was itchy and burning. I was nervous, shaking, and having a hard time breathing. When I husband got the nurse she was really condescending. She was like, “Do you have a history panic attacks?” I said, "no." Then she got the Dr., who ordered more Benadryl. After about 15 more minutes I calmed down. This was an extremely unpleasant experience; I will never take this medicine again.

DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!!!!!!!! I was given Reglan in IV, my life has never been the same. Anxiety attacks that have not stopped since, and it has been about 4months now. Every time I mention this to a doctor they shoot the issue down. Out side of the gallbladder issue that I went to the ER for I was before in good health, not since Reglan and the almost 2 hours of severe tremors through my whole body, after taking it.

My little boy who is now 4 has been off the Reglan for two years. I really thought my husband and I were doing the right thing by putting him on the Reglan at 8 months because he was vomitting blood. The gastric doctor said he had to be on it plus prevacid .Well I WISH WE HAD KNOWN THE SIDE EFFECTS. Now my son is in the process of going to a Neurologist next week because they think he might have Tardive Dyskinesia . He has the symptoms of it on and off for a year now and the doctors have said it is from stress not possible because all of the stress therapist we have taken him to say he is not stressed. I would like to say one thing do not put your child on this drug because it could be the biggest mistake of your life . This is a disease that can not be curred.

I experienced tremors, especially when I laid down. It seemed my whole body was jerking uncontrollably. I immediately quit taking it.

After my 11 year old son was given Reglan for a stomach virus in the hospital, he became almost like a person with cerebal palsey, his whole body crippled up and his face and mouth and tounge moved uncontrollably like he was having a stroke, it was the most horrific thing I as a parent have ever seen. I was hysterical to say the least. He was given cogentin injections to bring him out of this, but it took several days, and 2 years later he still has tremors, severe depression and a learning disability. He had sever seizures, facial paralysis, tremors, shakes and blurred vision and eye crossing for almost a year. He never returned to the 6th grade that year because of is side effects and how disabling they were. The doctors kept telling me it would go away in time. Well my question is? Why is it ok to them that my 11 year old child feels severly depressed every day for no reason, just because this dam drug told his brain to feel this way. How horrible it must be to feel so bad as a child and not understand why. He has lost a lot of his motor skills and has become very withdrawn, He takes prozac at the age of 11. My heart breaks everyday, and breaks even more when I realize people are still being hurt by the careless misuse of the seriously dangerous drug!

My mother was prescribed Reglan following surgery for colon cancer. She had delayed gastric emptying and also had pre-existing hiatal hernia and GERD. She was kept on the Reglan for 3 years, now has Tardive Dyskinesia. It is pitiful to observe. She has constant involuntary head jerking (side to side) and involuntary mouth movements that look as if she is chewing. We only found out recently that the problem is Tardive Dyskinesia, when she was referred to a neurologist with suspected Parkinson's Disease because of "stiffening" of the extremities and tremors. Parkinson's was ruled out, instead we were told the muscular stiffness, along with the involuntary movement disorder, is due to the side effects of Reglan. It is a dangerous drug.
