I take singulair each morning. In addition to the singulair, I also must take Advair 250/50. Since starting these medications (at the same time), I have been having lower back pains (lower back joint pains?). Recently, I also have had JOINT pains in my hips and knees. I feel tired and worn out even if I have had plenty of sleep. I also find myself gaining weight as a result of eating much more. I don't know which one of the drugs is causing these symptoms, but I am worried. My asthma has been pretty bad since October, and I am worried I might not do well without the meds. I still need to use my albuterol inhaler occasionally, too. Is joint pain associated with either the Advair or Singulair? Also, when I take ibuprofen to alleviate the pain, it either is not working or the pain is so severe it seems to not be working.

I posted last october and said i would keep everyone posted. at that time we were in and out of the ER and always on antibiotics and steroids etc...my 7 year old daughter had the exact same results as the earlier post here. she was on all meds. singulair, nasonex, advair 250, zyrtec, orapred when needed (frequently needed), nasal drip which caused coughing and airway restriction etc. all the behavioral symptoms. she was diagnosed as clinically depressed and severely adhd. (gee, can't imagine why on all those meds!) we went the natural approach. i finally told the docs i want to know WHY she keeps getting sick. we did the normal allergy tests and they were not helpful. i went to a chiropractor who ordered the 90 food blood antigen test. this tests for food intolerances. she was intolerant to 30 of the 90 foods!!! the biggests culprits were dairy, wheat (gluten!), nuts, soy. we removed the foods and she has not needed any medication since january!!!! nothing! we had one slip up where someone gave her some cake at at party and she backslid, but that was it. it really works. the docs didn't believe it. like the other mother said, it is really important to do your own homework. i argued with several specialists until i took it in my own hands and took charge of her diet. she is stronger and happier than ever! good luck everyone!

i posted last oct/nov of 2005 and have quite a progression with my 7 year old daughter. in october we decided to take her off of singular due to anger, hyperactivity, chronic illness. she was on at the time singulair 5mg, zyrtec, nasonex, advair 250/500, constant antibiotics and orapred.... and still not well. she was tested for chrones disease due to chronic stomach upset, several ct scans due to recurring sinus infections. we removed her adenoids in december....still sick. i finally took her off all her medication except nasonex, and advair 100 1x a day and had a blood test done called elisa. docs thought i was crazy and said it was worthless. turns out she is allergic to several foods. wierd ones like garlic, onion, melon, bananas, beans etc.....anyway, she is no longer on any of these foods and no longer needs ANY medication....it has been 2 months...we'll see, but there really seems to be something to it. ****** feel free to email me to discuss. we have been through it all!!! hope it helps someone a little. apparently, all those years on antibiotics only made things worse and weakened her immune system which created this horrible cycle.

My daughter is 8 1/2 yrs old. She has been on Singulair, Advair 250, Zyrtec and Zantac for 1 1/2 years. While her asthma is very controlled, she is having side effects. She was a wonderful student and so happy. Within the last month she began having anxiety attacks. Small things that normally were no issue now make her cry. Within the last week, she cries anytime her mind is not occupied by tv, etc. Tonight she began shallow breathing while saying she was scared of monsters. I now must sleep & stay with her at all times. She cannot even go to school. This is a very smart , well adjusted child and I am certain 1 or a combination of the above medications have brought this on. Her other side effects were constipation, weight gain, stomache pain, blurry vision.
