Spironolactone and acne

As best I can tell, after being on the drug for a couple years, raising the dose to 50mg has started having cumulative effects the last 5 months: weight gain, exhaustion, low bp, fatigue, excessive water retention, hair loss and slowing of growth. Not sure if 5 months of insomnia is related but no doctor can come up with any other reason why I'm having these problems with sudden onset - all my tests are normal and healthy! (except low iron., but I've had that for 4 years and the numbers have not changed during this time). It did wonders for clearing up and keeping away hormonal induced acne but I don't like the rest of the effects on my body. I'm asking my dermatologist to find another solution, preferably topical
