Sulfamethoxazole and kidney infection

Thank goodness for this website! I thought "Just my luck, sick on top of a uti/kidney infection" I just got back from the Dr and he told me I only have a cold and if it bothers me that much to just stop taking the antibiotics {I mentioned reading this and he said that flu like symptoms WEREN'T side effects}

I'm so glad i found this site. I started this medication 2 days ago because of a kidney infection. But today i started to feel weird. I have absolutely no appetite, i feel anxious, my mouth and throat feel very dry, I'm even afraid to swallow. I also feel very tired and my face and ears feel very hot and my kids say my face is red. This is a scary feeling. I called my doctor, haven't heard from her yet but I hope she changes my med.

I was prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 TABS for a kidney infection, on wednesday, i took it approximately 8 pm that same night, next day about 9 am i was breaking up i had a rash all over the inner part of my arms, on my thigh down to my feet. next thing i know i am itching all over. went to bed that night i had chills all night long. I had never had an allergic reaction to any medication until now.

Taking Sulfameth for a kidney infection/UTI. Hives, sweating/feverish, my entire left side of my neck and face hurts and I feel like I have an ear infection or something. The hives seem mostly on my left as well. I have had vivid dreams and nightmares all week that I am attributing to this as well. I am taking no other medication. This has happened to me before with Sulfa drugs.

I've been taking Sulfameth/Trimeth DS 800/160 for about 9 days for a kidney infection. For the past 3 days my throat has been bothering me. It feels like I have tonsilitis (which I get a lot), but I don't see how I could since this is an anti-biotic. My throat is burning it feels swollen, dry, scratchy and my voice has been going out. My jaws are getting sore too, like I've been clenching them or something.

i have just been perscried sulameth 800/160 two pills a day. for a kidney infection. i was on another med that this is a lesser dose of called laqu something and on that i took only one pill and i was very dizzy couldnt stand or drive and as i tried to sleep my bed was spinning.so i coldnt close my eyes. everything i ate or drank came back up. so the dr gave me this and i know read about this and i hope i dont get the side effects. why would they have this med on the market if it does this to people? should we do something about it we do have enouph proff of it being a bad drug. think of all the people in the world who we could stop from feeling like u guys. i just took my 1st one then came to look 4 sides and relly hope that i dont get it. i am a relly small person as is i only weigh 95 heathy pounds i am short as well though

HI I HAVE BEEN ON THIS MEDICATION SULFAMETH/TRIMETHOPRIM FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS BEFOR TAKING THE MEDICATION I HAD A SERVERE PAIN IN MY RIGHT LOWER BACK I WENT TO THE ER AND THEY DIAGNOSED ME WITH A SERVERE KIDNEY INFECTION AND PERCRIBED ME TO THE 800MG OF SULFAMETH/TRIMETHOPRIM I STAYED AT THE HOSPITAL FOR ABOUT THREE HOURS SO I COULD GET AN IV AND THEN I WENT HOME AND TOOK MY FIRST PILL I WOKE UP AT 3:30 IN THE MORNING AND PUKED I WENT BACK TO BED WITH CHILLS AND A HEADACH I WOKE UP ABOUT 3HRS LATER AND PUKED ABOUT 15 TO 20 TIMES IN A 2HR PERIOD I WENT TO SLEEP AFTER TAKING ANOTHER PILL I WOKE UP WITH A TEMPATURE OF 102.6 SO I WENT BACK TO THE DOCTOR AND THEYSAYED THIS IS SOMETIMES NORMAL WITH PEOPLE MY SIZE (4'9" 104LB)SO I LET IT GO I AM ON MY 3RD DAY I FINALLY GOT TO EAT SOMETHING LAST NIGHT TOOK MY PILL WATCHED A MOVIE AND WENT TO BED WOKE UP THIS MORNING FEELING WEAK WITH JOINT PAINS MOSTLY IN MY LEGS BUT I THINK THATS BECAUSE I WAS IN A BED FOR THE PAST 2 DAYS I HAVENT PUKED TODAY KNOCK ON WOOD! I AM NOW AT MY BOYFRIENDS GRANDMAS FEELING A LITTLE BETTER I JUST HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF ABDOMINAL PAINS BUT THAT COULD BE BECAUSE I WAS PUKEING AND COUGHING I HAVE A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT FOR MONDAY AND HE WILL TELL ME WETHER I NEED TO GET OFF THE MEDICATION OR NOT IM ONLY 15.
