Sulfamethoxazole and lips

I was prescribed sulfameth for an infection from a possible bug bite. After three days of taking this drug, I've had a severe headache, nausea, diarrhea, chills, fever, excessive perspiration, tightness and pain in my chest, dizziness, tingling around my lips, low back pain, weird nightmares and fitful sleep. Also, my blood sugar level is significantly elevated and I have constant stiffness and soreness in my neck. I'm just now coming to this website after experiencing these side effects for a total of five of the eight days I've been on the sulfameth.

I was perscribed Sulfameth for my acne, but for weeks I kept getting heartburn and didnt know why. Yesterday, my heartburn got so bad it didnt go away, in fact i am still in a lot of pain and my back hurts terribly. My face is also swollen, as are my lips and my eyes. It honestly has helped my acne, but it is not worth this much pain.

I took just one pill night before last, got up yesterday with swelling in my lips, face and neck. I had hard time brething, eating, drinking, with some sort of bumps on my tongue. I got up this morning with half my tongue bright red and the other a weird white. stripped right down the middle, no thanks, I will keep my fever and my sinus infection.

Doc gave me this drug for a nasty sinus infection. I was supposed to take 2 a day for l4 days. Today is day 7 and I have stopped taking it.

I am battling red, itchy eyes, flaming, itchy areas between my toes and it is starting between my fingers. My lips are numb and I just noticed my baby toes are swollen (go figure).

I've taken an antihistamine and quite frankly, I'm nervous. On top of all that mess, when I woke up with red eyes, I assumed it was pink eye b/c I teach preschool. It was Sat., so the doc called me in antibiotic eye drops, polymixin. The nurse at the BC/BS 24 hour help line said it contains some of the same ingredients as the sulfameth. Never again!

I was using it for acne. I'd been on it about two weeks when I started having sudden high fever and extreme lethary. (Like if I didn't lay down, I'd fall down). I'd hit the bed for several hours, and wake up feeling improved. Then I'd go through the same thing later that night; fever back up and horrific fatigue. I kept thinking I was coming down with something and even remarked that I was glad I was "already on an antibiotic." Then realized my fevers were shortly after my dose. Nurse said "no, that wouldn't do it. I took one more dose to "see" and in addition to the fever going up, that time my lips swelled and itched. Spoke with the Dr. and he said NEVER to use a sulfa med again, as the next reaction could be quite dangerous.

I took this medication and about 20 minutes later i broke out with little red bumps all over me and it itched. My face got numb , my lips were tingling, it was awfulll.. This is the second time this has happeded to me , but the first time I didnt realize it was the medicine.. NOW I KNOW>>

upset stomach, swollen upper lip, very thick feeling tongue, dry mouth, tingly lips, racing heart if I overdo in the slightest
