Sulfamethoxazole and migraines

HORRIBLE MIGRAINES!!!!

I started taking SULFAMETH / TRIMETHOPRIM 800/160 for my UTI. While being on it for only 2 days I started to get cold chills, severe head aches (sort of like migraines), fatigue and itching all over my body. I can't believe that this is the side effects to something that supposed to cure you!

warning DONT TAKE THIS DRUG i took it for three days and i am now suffering from migraines for 5 weeks now ... im serious this drug is destroying me ..i have never had a migraine in my life ,,, maybe a headache but never a migraine that feels like a knife is piercing ur head . i have gone to a neorologist and have had an mri ... a mra all negative and currently on topamax and going for p t all bec of sulfameth .... take that stuff off the market

I started taking sulfameth to treat a staph infection. Symptoms began after the second day of taking the medication. At first, I experienced nausea, migraines and dizziness. The next morning my eyes were sore and were a bit red. I felt drained throughout the entire day. I stopped taking the medication and cleaned the area thoroughly and daily, and it soon disappeared.

After taking 2 pills for 2 weeks for a sinus infection I became very ill. I had migraines, severe nauseousness, became completely jaundiced, had night sweats and vertigo. The drs. could not determine what was wrong w/ me b/c I was no longer on the medication. It had built up in my system and damaged my liver. My liver enzymes are highly elevated from this dangerous drug.

I am now taking sulfameth for a UTI, and this is my second day of taking it. So far, I haven't had any horrible reactions. I did get a very bad stinging type of headache lastnight after the second pill, but since I get migraines often, I didn't blame the medication for it. I am very tired and fatigued, and have no appetite whatsoever, so this might be due to the med, but I have problems with my stomach, so again, I don't want to fully blame the medication for this. As long as it takes care of the UTI, I can deal with the tiredness and no appetite till I'm done taking all of it. I have no reason to go off of it so far.
