I was put on this medicine for a bladder infection ,(*whicn by the way was really a yeast infection I learned later ) after 3 days of taking it , the whole side of each cheek and roof of my mouth ,plus just behind the tongue ,and on the tongue sides , broke out in the worst blisters I have ever experienced in my whole 80 yrs , also the vagina area was blistered too, I stopped the meds 3 days of taking it and called my doctor she put me on a yeast infection med that cleared up the bladder infection right away ..the mouth completely peeled off every blister but remains very sore and hard for me to eat ..this sulfameth drug needs to be removed from the market or stronger side effects need to be listed aslo as a more of a warning in big letters ...!!!!

I have been taking this medicine for a UTI for a few days and today all of the sudden I had an uncontrollable need to pee every few minutes. When I did there was a burning sensation and the immediate need to pee again. So I looked up the medication and saw online that you are supposed to drink a whole glass of water with each pill. I started chugging water and the burning and need to pee went away after and hour or so. Very strange, but maybe it will help someone else.

I started taking sulfameth on Monday (so 4 days ago). I noticed right after I started taking it that the nausea I felt from the UTI was not going away, my mouth started to get dry, I've had a minor headache constantly since starting it and when I got up in the morning (a couple of hours after taking the pill) I was very shaky and it wouldn't stop until I had eaten something. Then, last night, my blood sugar dropped. I got incredibly nauseated, dizzy, I felt like I was going to faint, I started shaking, I felt panicked and it did not subside until a candy was shoved into my mouth. It also felt like my tongue was a little swollen. Based on what I've seen, this med should be recalled.

I have taken short courses of trimethoprim in the past with no obvious problems but this time was prescribed a longer course of tablets. In my case it was the effects on mood which were most scary, although after five days (-having just discovered this site and decided to stop taking the drug early) I have a very sensitive mouth and tongue- and have also experienced a feeling of fullness and congestion in my sinuses and throat similar to that described by others. The effects on mood were unpredictable but occurred about an hour after taking the morning does and seemed to then wane by the late afternoon. I had feelings of aggression (road rage) anxiety and paranoia. I developed the shakes and cried. I also felt generally depressed for the first time in my life and as though I could not be bothered to do anything. I didnt mention this to my GP when I went for a check up as I thought it sounded ridiculous but will call him asap to report what I experienced and also what I have read on this site.

I thought I was experiencing odd side effects, but after finding this site I realize I'm not the only one. Food didn't taste like it should, tongue very sensitive, can't even gargle. Nausea and fatigue. Does this med even work?

I took just one pill night before last, got up yesterday with swelling in my lips, face and neck. I had hard time brething, eating, drinking, with some sort of bumps on my tongue. I got up this morning with half my tongue bright red and the other a weird white. stripped right down the middle, no thanks, I will keep my fever and my sinus infection.

I just took this med along with minocycline to treat a staff infection...after about 7 days I started noticing my tongue was very sensitive...like I ate too much hot spicy stuff and my taste buds were sticking up. Also got really itchy skin and not sure if this was because of this but my appetite changed dramatically...I was ravenously hungry every few hours...would actually wake up in the middle of the night and eat whole meals and then got horrible sleep to boot! I have been off of the meds for a day and a half and am starting to see my symptoms subside, but not completely. Was very irritable, tired, hungry and got very bad sleep while taking this. Not excited about ever taking it again, as I think it really messed me up!

I have something wrong with my tongue after taking this for a UTI, it might be dry mouth I dont know, but first my tongue seemed to have blisters where the pill touched my mouth, and now my whole tongue is raw, and it hurts to talk, eat, and drink. Does anyone know what this is?

I've been taking sulfameth for a week now for a sinus infection. I haven'nt gotten any better, in fact it occured to me today that the meds are making me more sick. I'm very nauseous, dizzy, and have a sore on my tongue. I'll never take this medication again.
