Sulfamethoxazole and yeast infection

I was put on this medicine for a bladder infection ,(*whicn by the way was really a yeast infection I learned later ) after 3 days of taking it , the whole side of each cheek and roof of my mouth ,plus just behind the tongue ,and on the tongue sides , broke out in the worst blisters I have ever experienced in my whole 80 yrs , also the vagina area was blistered too, I stopped the meds 3 days of taking it and called my doctor she put me on a yeast infection med that cleared up the bladder infection right away ..the mouth completely peeled off every blister but remains very sore and hard for me to eat ..this sulfameth drug needs to be removed from the market or stronger side effects need to be listed aslo as a more of a warning in big letters ...!!!!

Oh my gosh, thank goodness I just took the my last pill after 10 days/twice a day after being prescribed for a UTI. Haven't been able to sleep with restless legs, itching ALL over (thought about a yeast infection, too) - even my ear lobes! My eyes ache.. have waves of nausea.. and have felt tired (especially frustrating when you can't sleep). I hate this stuff.. will never take it again!

Oh my God! The itching is horrible! I woke up and my eyes crossed from the severity. I could not even go to work. After taking Sufameth/trimethoprim for 2 days (2 pills/da) for a UTI, my scalp started to itch. I scratched all day with a pencil...to no avail. Later that day, the vaginal and rectal itch was unmerciful. Vagisil maximum COULD NOT TOUCH it. I scheduled a gyne appointment because I thought, maybe I was developing something else...yeast infection. But there were no other signs. My husband suggested it could be an allergic reaction to the medicine. My nurse suggested I take an antihistimine like Benadryl. That provided some relief. Now I see similar postings on the web about severe itching. Thank goodness I only have one more pill of this 3 day treatment.

I was prescribed Sulfameth/trimethoprim for a UTI and Nystin powder for yeast infection. I am on my 6th day and to day I woke up with blood on the bed from my catherter. I am also on coumadin. These two meds do not work well together. My doctor said not to go to PT today, cut out the next three days of coumadin, and finish the anitbiotics. I also had severe nausea when Ifirst started on antibiotics. I was told to take them on a full stomach. This has worked for me.

I went to the doctor complaining of a mild headache and being nauseous. After 5 days of taking this medicine (Sulfameth Trimethoprim) I am feeling 100% WORSE! This medicine has caused me to feel nauseous, moody, have severe headaches, loss of appetite, and my food all tastes like it has traces of lead in it. I was also prescribed Pseudovent along with a medicine to treat any yeast infection that might come as a side effect from the Sulfameth Trimethoprim. I am going to stop taking these medicines because I feel really bad. I wouldn't advise anyone to take these w/out seriously questioning your doctor about their side effects and any other options. I'll stick with Mucinex for any congestion and Tylenol Cold and Flu for those symptons.

I was taking sulfameth/trimethoprim for a UTI and it gave me a bad yeast infection 2 days later. I have to take it for 7 days 2X a day. I have mild itching and dryness. Can't wait to get of sulfameth/trimethoprim. I have 4 more pills left.

I'm taking it for a yeast infection in my sinuses (gross, i know). So far I've had a backache, slight abdominal cramps and nausea. I've also been tired more than usual. Shaky too.

my 2 and half was put on this medcine for infection and know its caused a yeast infection. what do i do

A few minutes after ingesting - intense inner vaginal burning and itching. 100x worse than any yeast infection you could ever get.

Am being treated for a fungus/bacteria(?) I may have picked up in the Caribbean. Been on it for 3 days. I was told to take acidopholus with it to avoid a yeast infection. So far I've just noticed a slight dull headach and minor nausea comes and goes.

I just started today, about an hour after takiing my first pill I got a shooting pain inside my head, severe pounding chest and shaking all over, it felt like a panic attack. I took 2 advil and "walked it off". I'm very shaky, achy, groggy, and have slight headache, also itchy vagina but I've been taking Veetids before this so that may have caused the yeast infection. Noticable lack of appetite as well.

severe abdominal pain, headache for almost 24hrs. nasuea, extremely tired. i was prescribed this med. for a yeast infection. the side effects are hell but worth the outcome. i am also on phenazopyridine.

Severe abdominal pain, headache for almost 24 hrs now, hot flashes, extremely drowsy. I was prescibed this med. for a yeast infection along with phenazopyridine. it is slowly helping. the side effects are hell but the outcome is good.

I have had no side effect from this med. I'm sure I'll get a yeast infection.. but then again almost all antibiotics do that to woman. So I'm not worried. I think it works great. Sorry everyone else but one has had a problem with it.

Red rash on arms, legs, stomach, and back that is so itchy that I can not sleep, stomach pain. I here that this pill can cause yeast infections so ask for diflucan when you start taking sulfameth to avoid getting a yeast infection.
