I took tetracycline in 1986 and shortly after had a massive brain aneurysm that I believe was triggered by this drug.I advise strongly that this medication and others in the tetracycline family be recalled and taken out of existence.I am very blessed to be alive and the F.D.A. is admittedly not doing it's job.PRAISE GOD this site exists! The poor #%stards, they've got us surrounded!

Tetracycline is directly affected to a condition known as Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension or more commonly known as Pseudotumor Cerebri. It is a very rare neurological condition. It causes Cerebral Spinal Fluid to build up on the brain and therefore causes servere headaches and permanent loss of vision due to pressure built up on the optic nerves. I had taken Tetracycline off and on for many years as a treatment of acne and was always told that the headaches that I had were migraines until I was hosptialized and finally diagnosed correctly by a Neurologist who promptly took me off of the medication. After learning all of this I have done much research and I was already in a high-risk category for this condition and Tetracycline is directly listed on every website as a cause of this condition. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN PRESCRIBED THIS MEDICATION!!! There are no warnings on the medication to indicate that it causes this condition and my healthcare provider was not aware or she never would have prescribed it to me. Now I live with a VP shunt, blood clots in my brain and constant headaches. What a price to pay to get rid of acne!

For anyone sufferring from Halitosis, it might be a result of using this drug. I took it for 3 yrs to combat acne as a teenager. My face is clear, but the debt was not woth it. Stay away from this drug.

As a child I had been given this drug for various illnesses. Now as an adult my dentist tells me and my sister both that since we were given this particular drug as children our teeth are very darkened by it. He said it was a very common side effect. What can we do?

I experienced the worst uncontrollable anxiety I have ever had in my life on a ten-day regime of tetracycline....I thought I was going to die and I was on my knees praying for help from God to extract the evil spirits that possessed my body...this drug is horrific for anyone with sensitity to medication or a history of anxiety...I have some anxiety and depression which is very controllable....Normally I am a stable happy-go-lucky stay-at home Mom in a happy marriage with a wonderful supportive family and inlaws....but this drug put me in a place I never want to go again...HELL on earth!
I cannot begin to list all the sideeffects this drug has given me...I was given a 30 day prescription for a molar extraction...oral surgery, which I ended on day 10 under the advice of my husband which was watching my deteriorating condition....wish I was never prescribed this drug.
I hope this posting helps others and I am glad it exists!!
Still experiencing some mild but tolerable side effects....
Recovering .....need a different anti-biotic
