Topamax and left eye

Ive been on Topamax for almost 3 years. Was on 100 mg/day for 1 1/2 yrs. Couldn't take the spaciness so I went off of it. A new Dr. put me back on 50mg/day 6 months later because my headaches were so bad. I'm doing great. Headaches are less frequent. Maybe 2-3 per month but not so violent. But lately I've developed this twitching under my left eye. It's constant. Could it be the Topamax???

I was just at the Optomalogist's office 6/19/07 for seven hours and ER for five hours. I was being treated for Acute Angle Closure Glaucoma.
Started with a sneeze on 6/19 a.m. that brought on blurry vision in right eye. As the day progressed both eyes became affected. Pressure in right eye was 51 and pressure in left eye was 50. (pressure should be between 12-15) Eye Doctor tried to bring down eye pressure by giving me Diamox 250 mg and drops of Istalol and Alphagan (ended up getting a full 1000 mg of Diamox) before they set me to the ER for an I.V. of Mannitol to deliver medicine faster, which brought down my pressure to right 32 and left 28. Back at Eye Dr's 6/20 pressure is down to right 20 and left 22.
Will follow up again with them on Friday. This is all due to me taking 25 mg. of Topamax for the last three weeks for Migraines. Surgery would of been my next option if the I.V. did not work. They were talking about using a laser to cut a hole in my eye to relieve the pressure. Still have blurry vision today but it is slowly coming back. I wanted to find out about other people with the same type of problem as me.

well, after reading all of these posts,
i have hit a harsh reality. my husband has been right this whole time. My sex drive has hit ROCK BOTTOM....my fuse is so short i snap at him at absolutely NOTHING....our marriage is SUFFERING...and coincidentally...it all started right after i started taking topamax...i am only taking 75mg a day...2 in the morning, and 1 at night...
i was so excited because my migraines, that i was getting every single day, were FINALLY gone....and i lost 10 pounds...and i only had to suffer the change in taste in my sodas, the slightly irritating eye twitch in my left eye, and the tingling in my feet. i just thought the sex drive and mood swings were purely coincidental. now that i have read every single post from you guys, i am now forced to go to my husband with my tail between my legs and tell him i'm so sorry for blowing up on him every time he begged me to get off the topamax and i absolutely refused because i refused to go back to the pain of my daily migraines...
as far as the hair loss, i have thick curly hair and i already shed like a shaggy dog so i dont know if mine has really increased or not due to taking the medicine. looking at it now, i can probably say it has, a little, but not much.
i have always shed like crazy..lol
but mainly, my side effects were the change in taste with sodas and beer (beer aquired a "sweet" taste, sodas lost it's "fizz" on the front of my tongue if that makes any sense), my left eye had a constant twitch until i upped my dosage to 3 a day instead of 2, i get the tingling in my feet only, none in my hands or face like i've read, i started getting slight nausea when i added my birth control patch back into the mix with the topamax but that subsided once my body got used to everything.
Sitting here reading this has made me realize a lot about this medicine.

I have been on topamax foe about a year now for severe headaches, it works wonders. But i do have some severe side effectes too. I have a lot of sleepiness, a spasm around my left eye, and the worst of all my hair is falling out. If anyone has any ideas please let me know i don't want to go off of topamax, this is the first time I have been headache free in my life.

i am only on 25mg of topamax which i take before going 2 bed but ive noticed that about 30 mins after taking it i pass out.....i am extremely tired during the day like im in a fog.....no one in my family wears glasses yet i had 2 get glasses cauz i was seeing blurry out of my left eye my right eye still has perfect vision...im never ever hungry ..............and for some weird reason i am always itchy itchy alllllllll over my body. i have extremly strange dreams that is when i get sleep cauz i only get about 4 hours a nite i cant manage to sleep thru the nite also ive notice alot of tachycardia......like my hearts about 2 jump out......ahhhhhh...but on the good note i no longer have migraines :)
