Topamax and stomach cramps

I have only been on Topamax for a couple of weeks now and it seems I've had every side effect known to man. It is not a boring drug. I've had all the ones you hear about--the fuzzy tingling/numbness in my feet and fingers, stomach cramps/nausea/disinterest in food that comes and goes, and sleeplessness. Sometimes I get this bizarre, creeping sensation that a hair is on this one part of my nose and I can't get it off, a bad weighted, heavy, weak feeling that comes over me about an hour or two after I take the pill, some dizzy moments and even some balance issues. I've had insane cotton mouth since taking the pill and just the last several days my eyes have been so dry it feels like tiny shop vacs are attached to my eye balls. I'm relieved this is maybe a common symptom because I had not read that one and I'm overly paranoid about my eyes because my doctor scared me to death talking about all of the potential rare side effects, such as glaucoma. I have no idea how to know whether what I am feeling is an early symptom of glaucoma versus dry eyes but I believe it is simply dry eyes. It seems logical is you have cotton mouth you'd have dry eyes. Does anyone know how common this is and does anyone have a great drop?

Started on Topamax about 3 months ago. Taking for visual seizures from scar tissue due to gamma knife on an AVM that bled.I was seeing all kinds of things like people, dogs, cars, you name it. Doctor first put me on Dilantin (pretty strong dose). It did nothing, and it did not even show up in my blood on a blood test. That was a nuerosurgeon. He sent me to a nuerologist. He put me on lamictal. I took it for one week, and wanted to drive my car over a cliff!!! I was so depressed and I felt horrible. I just stopped taking it. Then he put me on Topamax. I take 100mg. Soda is bad. I do miss my diet pepsi. I lost 30 pounds ( this is a benefit). My brain is fuzzy at times, and I can go to introduce a family member, and not even remember their name for a minute. I have trouble with urination, actually starting it. Sometimes I lose my balance, and bang into things. I get stomach cramps once in a while.However, all the people, dogs, cars, and "unwanted" visions are gone. So, I guess it is worth it. I wonder if I will ever like Diet Pepsi again. Also, now eggs and chicken are really starting to gross me out.

I'm only on 25mg of Topamax per day right now. Over an 8 week period I will gradually go to 200mg per day. Anyway, since about the 3rd day on 25mg's, I've had diarrhea & bad stomach cramps everytime I eat. I can't keep anything in my stomach other than liquids. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how long did it last? Should I expect it to get worse with increased doses?

it has been quit a ride with this drug, the mood swings are qite a trip for my kids but they are adjusting and always willing to help no matter what. The stomach cramps are a bit much at times feel like i may have an accident out side, like i can't hold it. The confusion and not able to get my words out right is also fustrating at times. I hve lots of energy, like i am on some kind of uppers almost feel like i jhve to let my doctor write a letter to my job explain my new found energy level. My tingling also began the very same day it freaked me out, but i am dealing with it my migranes are now two in about three weeks as opposed to four to five in one week, for me that is great!

I have been taking 25mg of topamax since Feburary 2005, it has been great for me. However, the side effect has been confusion, slight memory loss, stomach cramps, diarreah, crankiness, tingling in my habds and feet began the same day I started taking topamax, and blurred vision. This is of concern to me because of my profession as a preschool teacher. However, I am grateful because of the drecrease in the amount of migranes that I now suffer. This is an very interesting drug, I hope doctors know what they are doing.
