Toprol-XL and sleeping through the night

my husband is on Toprol XL. he was started on 100mg and experienced tremors in his arms/hands..weird dreams and sleepless nights and confusion and memory loss..also hard breathing. After some research about this drug, I discovered that for many people there is no side effects, but for those that do have side effects they are very similar. the Toprol was lowered to 50mg and a change was visible within 10 days..he started sleeping through the night. the confusion began to diminish as did the tremors..the doctor then lowered it to 25 mg where it is at the moment and symptoms diminished even more. we will wait for next check up to see if his bp still remains good which it has up to now. and then I am going to request to bring the toprol down to 12 1/2mg if possible..
