TOPROL XL 25mg (43yr old white male)
I went to the dentist where they took my blood pressure (180/95). they suggested seeing my medical doctor. my doctor started me on 50mg to get the pressure down. the first three or four days I felt like I had run 1000 miles everyday, I was so fatigued. I called the doctor and told him and asked if I could cut them in half (they have a cut line on them). I have now been taking 25mg for about year maybe a year and half (time flys). I am still fatigued but not as badly, I am over-weight by 30-40lbs and I also smoke. additonally, my knees "ACHE", my calves ache and most recently my right hip and my wrists and forearms are aching (like carple tunnel of something). Finally, my indigestion is back (after starting toprol that kind of subsided for several months). I have just been passing it off as getting older and having to chase two small children around.
after reading some of your posts, I wonder if it's not the toprol causing the fatigue, joint pain and the return of my acid-reflux.
I am sitting here typing and my knees are screaming, right now!
has anyone else experienced all these symptoms?

Achy joint pain increasing the pain in my wrists, hands and feet. Ache in big toe does resemble gout. Cervical neck pain and hip joint pain come and go, but the pain in my wrists, and feet remain constant. Lower back muscle pain and deep muscle pain on my right chest area. Some loss of short term memory and confusion in daily routines that did not exist before. The severe anxiety when missing a dose is very disturbing and that is exactly what happens to me and I don't want to be "addicted" to a drug. My depression (which was under control for thirty years) has now returned. If this is the price I have to pay just to lower my BP for a bit, than NO THANKS. I am on 50 mgs of Toprol and I want my doctor to decrease my dose.

I am 47 years old, and had surgery in February. Blood pressure was elevated during the stay in the hospital, so the Doctor put me on Maxzide 50/75. That was fine until I returned to work and the bathrooms are a 1/4 mile away. Then he put me on 25mg of Toprol. After only taking for one month, my hands swelled up to the size of softballs, and every joint in my body felt as though there were glass shards in them. I stopped taking the Toprol a little over a month ago, and the swelling went down some by using Celebrex (which caused a sulfur allergy), and now I have severe carpal tunnel in both wrists from the extreme swelling, and surgery has been given me as my only option to relieve the pressure. Doesn't this Toprol ever work its way back out of your system?

Iam 38 year old male and have been taking Toprol XL 50mg since Nov. 03. I have had disturbed sleep patterns, vivid dreams ,episodes of dry itchy skin patches, the most bothersome side effect is that my joints ache, knees, wrists finger joints. I also take 30mg of Prevacid daily but I have had these symtoms prior to taking Prevacid. I usually have a bloated feeling in my stomach about an hour after taking my Toprol.Any one have this problem? (Bloating). My bp is fantastic though!!
