I was on ortho-tricyclene lo for years and had no problems. I had a baby a year ago and was on a progesterone only pill due to breast feeding. I recently weaned him, and wanted to go back to the ortho. My doctor prescribed me the Ortho, and when I picked it up at the pharmacy it was the tri-sprintec. I gained weight with in the first week of taking this medication. I weighed less when my breasts where engorged with BFing!! Now my breasts are not full and I eat less and work out more and still gained weight!!! This is really discouraging because I work really hard to stay in shape and I am a petite girl, so a few pounds goes a long way on my frame. Anyway, because this is the brand name and not the generic that I want, it is a pain to request the brand name now to get it covered by insurance. I am hoping to go back to the ortho and get rid of this excess weight!!!

I used Tri-Sprintec for three years for my skin. In those three years I didn't *notice* a change in my body or personality other than the fact that my boobs went up 2 sizes and I gained some weight. However, after I QUIT using this medication, I realized that my mind had not been my own for the three years I took it.

I quit in November 2008, and instantly lost 15 pounds and 2 boob sizes. I also came to the realization that in the three years I was on this medication, I was an emotional wall with no ambition and no sex drive (which sucks when you are (19-21 years old).

Now that I have been off it for almost 6 months, I haven't had a period in nearly 4 (going to the doctor next week) and I cannot focus at all. I literally cannot sit down and focus on a school assignment.

I used to write every day before I started Tri-Sprintec, and while I was on it I sort of lost that ability to express anything through words, so I started doing film in school to show what I couldn't tell. Now that I am no longer on the medicine I realize that it is the medicine that made me unable to write. It really screwed with my mind. I can write again! But I am so upset that I missed out on three years of it, because those were very crucial years.

I feel like I was on pause for three years. Does that make sense? Anyone have anything similar?

I was reading the comments on Tri-Sprintec. I have been on Tri-Sprintec for almost 3 years now and I do not have any of the symptoms that other people have experienced. I was told by my doctor that different birth control medications will affect you differently. He originally put me on birth control to clear up my acne. Tri-sprintec worked for me. I was a virgin when I got married at 25 years of age and I was still on tri-sprintec. I have not gotten pregnant on the medication and I have not had any bad symptoms. For those of you who have had bad reactions... I would take my doctor's advice and find another birth control that works for your body.

I posted a question to anyone who used Tri-Sprintec before, but now it's been several months & I'd like to let everyone else know how it's worked for me! Tri-Sprintec has been the best birth control I've ever taken. I have been on other birth controls over the years, and up to this point Yasmin was good but I still had some side effects. I've just started my fourth month on Tri-Sprintec, and I feel more like myself again. I don't have any crazy mood swings, my skin has cleared up, my periods are regular again & my appetite has gone back to normal. I recommend Tri-Sprintec to anyone who is looking for an affordable & reliable birth control (it's offered at the Wal-Mart pharmacy for $9 a month if you don't have insurance.)
