I have been on Trileptal for about 2 years now at 750 mg. However, Only recently I began to have a lot of hair loss. In fact, I now have a bald patch at my temple. I am only thirty years old, and otherwise in good health. I'm trying to determine weather or not this drug is responsible for my hair loss. I'm extremely reluctant to go off of it because it is the first medication I've taken (for bipolar 2 & insomnia) that has helped. Does anyone know if it could be related?

I have been on this medication for about 3-4 months now, and I have NEVER passed out or fainted before in my life and I have done it three times already since I've been on this medicine. I have had an increased amount of hair loss . But other than feeling very dizzy, then nauseas, then hot flashes and then passing out.... not too many other side effects. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've been on trileptil for about 2 years now and am up to 600 MG and I'm 20 years old having all these side effects! But yet my mood is better then ever I'm doing great besides my frustrations with the side effects! I just need to weigh the pro and cons of if it's worth taking with all these sevre side effects!

Was taking 300mg BID for seizure disorder (complex-partial with occasional progression to generalized) but had to stop because of severity of side effects: confusion, inability to remember words, depression, inability to concentrate, increased frequency of "aura" sensation/absence seizures, fatigue, frequent migraines, short-term memory loss (seems to have been related to medication rather than seizure disorder), dizziness, flushing, "drunk" feeling, insomnia (not sure if due to drug), loss of libido, occasional suicidal thought, etc. (There are others, but because of memory/concentration problems, can't remember them!)

itchy hands and feet, numbness of lips as well as cheek area
I was prescribed trileptal after having surgery for trigeminal neuralgia. I underwent a microvascular decompression surgery so the side effects are far less than the pain I felt prior to surgery. although if I dont take the medication as presribed down to the hour the pain comes back so its like 6 in on and half dozen of the other, oh I almost forgot I also am very forgetful after being presribed this med.

My son has been takiing tripeltol for over a year, he is only 11 yeard old; he has been expresing extreme aggresive behavior in the last year or so. He can not communicate very well what he is feeling, but he is in extreme disconfort (unhappy, aggressive, mad, grauchy, etc.) I am starting to believe that trileptol is the cause; he is also taking geodon and abilify, which are suppose to control bal behavior. However, nothing is helping. Am I in the rigth track believing that trileptol is the cause of his bad behavior?

I hate it! My doctor prescribed 1200mg a day. When I followed this dosage for a week (approximately 2 years ago) I was so lethargic, my tongue felt as if it weighed 10 pounds plus it was numb and I was the most unproductive individual! I stopped taking 1200 and started with 600; the same side effects occurred. Now, I take it every few days which really sucks because the manic monster rears its ugly head. At this point, I have to do my own research to find the right medication for my bipolar. I do know that I cannot continue this medication. I thought it was going to help control the severe angry outburst; I've broken one of our ceiling lamps by throwing my shoes. It's like being trapped within myself. I hope any and everyone who posts to this and even those out there that have bipolar, finds the right medication. It is so incredibly difficult not knowing which way my mood will take me; what journey: being ok one minute and the next, feeling terrible.
