Took 1 Ultracet at 1:20 pm then I was told by the pharmacist it was OK to take 800 mg Motrin in between (9:30 pm) then another Ultracet later for 'breakthru' pain...which I *did* get. I took another Ultraset at 11:30 pm and have been Spaced out and Dizzy ever since....but the pain is not gone!! Don't think Ultracet works for me at all.....just makes me worse and spaced out....I'll take the pain and Motrin instead...(CostoChondritis and Chest wall pain~ Both arms making it very difficult to function and even eat or drink from a cup )

I love this pain reliever. I've had no ill effects and many positive side-effects such as mood improvement. This side effect lasts even after the pain relief is gone; in my case it's up to 10 hours. Can't say enough how much I love it!

I would just like to say I have been taking Ultracet for about 5 years with yearly blood tests. All my life I have suffered with RLS and now I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalga which is very painful and no one understands this pain unless they have experienced it. Ultracet has allowed me to function so much better and for all those years with RLS when I could not sleep at night and was so tired during the day ,Ultracet has changed all that .I have no side effects except for maybe dry mouth which comes with most medications. I take 4 or 5 Ultracets a day and have little or no pain. It has changed my life so much for the better.

I began taking ultracet for undiagnosed backpain a little over a year ago. I'm over 6 foot tall and weigh over 200 pounds so I take 2 pills before each work day. It has been a miracle drug for me in helping with not only the back pain but all sorts of pain that comes with being a waitress. Unfortunately, Ultracet makes me very hyper, talkative and somewhat euphoric and I can no longer go to work without it. I never take it on my days off and I believe that when I take it for a string of days in a row that my body stops producing as much adrenaline and I feel very tired and slightly depressed. It also causes a lot of itchiness. Never mix this drug with cold and flu medicine, it made be very ill! I am not bothered enough to stop taking this medication but to potential users be wary of its potential side effects.

Ultracet works for the pain but the tingly-fuzzy-sleeplessness, hallucinations, floating feelings were so weird, my son asked me (jokingly of course) to "hook him up". One instead of two, works okay for pain and the side effects are much less disturbing. Still, I take them sparingly. I described the effects to my doctor as "an unpleasant high".

I have been on ultracet for about 8 weeks now. I was prescribed 2 every 6 hours. I have had terrific migraine headaches since the age of 24 and two years ago they subsided. Now when I wake in the a.m. after being on the ultracet the terrific headaches and pain in my neck & shoulders is unbelievable. I have gained quite a bit of weight and wondered if that was one of the side effects also, although no one seemed to mention it in any of your articles. It does help the pain in the daytime, but I am not too sure I want to continue it.

I have had moderate to severe pain in my hip due to joint deformity and subsequent deterioration and arthritis. I am unable to take even one dose of any NSAIDs as they cause stomach bleeding. Ten months ago a doctor prescribed Ultracet for me and it has provided tremendous pain relief for me. However, one of the side effects that I first noticed was it aggravated neck pain that I had from a couple of degenerated disks. I couldn't figure that out until a few months later when I read the Ultracet could cause muscle tightness. That explained that, and that finally subsided in the last few months. I had some of the side effects others described the first couple of days but then they subsided. I find that if I stick with just one tablet nstead of the two prescribed, I don't have all of the central nervous system reaction that some describe...nerve twitching, itching, sleeplessness and agitation, but if I take 2 at a time, I have all of the above. I always take one in the morning and usually don't have to take another the rest of the day unless I overdo. Sometimes I will need to take more doses but I take it knowing that I will be itching and agitated. I have had a couple of doctors since that have had bad experiences with Ultracet personally, and they always try to switch me to a narcotic. I have not had any decrease in effectiveness or increased need or dependency, but I also figure that if I only take my one in the morning on a normal basis, and only supplement as needed, I won't have problems with addiction.

Even though my MD told me to take two Ultracet before bed for my chronic neck and back pain, I only took one. I'm glad I only took one, because I had the hardest time breathing and my chest felt very constricted! I got kind of scared that I would pass out and stop breathing altogether. Eventually, my breathing improved and the pain subsided, however, it came back with a vengence along with nausea when I woke up the next morning. The next night, I took half a pill, but the effects were the same but slightly diminished. I've decided to leave Ultracet alone as I'm afraid that I'll stop breathing when I fall asleep.

I've been taking ultracet for a little more than a year, for chronic cramps that make me very ill and immobile. I was wondering if any of you itch constantly? I feel so self conscious about it, but I can't help it! Other than that I have this strange feeling of calmness and its as if I'm in a quiet bubble...though any light and sound is extremely intensified for me. Anyone else like this? And I have to ask people to talk very softly to me. I become very sleepy but the moment I close my eyes I have very strange images and thoughts, making sleep difficult. I really hate taking this medication, but its been the only one that helps in terms of pain.

iIhave taken ultracet/ ultram before and had the same reactions. Last night I had nothing else to take for my awful awful headache, so I had to take the ultracet. First of all it did not ease the headache at all. I woke up this morning and felt like I had the jitters, I got hot and started sweating, then I started vomiting. Now my head feels like I am in a tunnel and I have cold chills. Anything with quick movement makes my head spin and I have to vomit again! If I had not known what this medicine made me do before I would have went to the ER, but fortunatly I know just to wait it out and hopefully it will be out of my system soon.

Originally prescribed Ultracet(actually generic Tramado/apap) for arthritis pain. As instructed, I took two pills at night and one in the morning. By mid-morning I was ill--vomiting, dizziness, extreme fatigue, some itchiness. The arthritis pain was diminished though.
It also gave me weird dreams --black and white television stories super-imposed on colorful dreams. Those were actually kind of interesting, not scary.
I don't think this is the right pain medicine for me.

Hi im steve form the UK. I was in a traffice accident in october 2002, i was hit my a car and knock off my Scooter(moped) and landed on my back. I have damged my back tissue and back(spinal) muscles. I have had chronic back pain ever since the accident and my GP has given me Tramadol. I was on them for two years from my accident, then i was off them for one year and now im back on them. These are the only tablets that do help the pain and i have tried other painkillers but did not help with the pain. I get a Dry mouth, (very thirsty), sometimes i itch alot, feel a bit dizzy and tired, when i yawn i tingle all over and my hands and arms go numb. I also feel like im gone into my own little world which is good when im at work as work can be stressful, it helps me calm down too. I take 1 or 2 a day

These pills work very well for pain. When taking too many they tend to either keep me up or have me nodding off, but ALWAYS an ungodly amount of itching.... when I take more than 8-10 pills at a time, the itching is severe and constant. I am sure at a lower dose it would be much less pronounced.

hi im a 19 year old girl and i've been on tramadol for at least a year. i was given it because of a pinched nerve in my lower back. and what is worse than the back pain is the addiction. my doctor told me since it is no-narcotic there will be no addiction so i took as perscribed. 2 every 6 hours.. well that didn't help so i bumped it up to three.. well here i am a year later and im trying like hell to get off.. i have horrible withdrawels.. i tried to get off them about a month ago but the withdrawels were so terrible i couldn't so tomorrow i am trying to again.. luckily i have a little smirinoff to help me when im at my worst.. you know just to take the edge off.. not to get drunk or anything.. but i love my tramadol.. but hate these withdrawels.. why is it that im having them? could it all be in my mind.. could i just be building up the idea of not having them so much that i put my self in a state of anxiety.. please help.. tell me if anyone has had withdrawels from these wolf in sheeps clothing pills

Ultracet has taken away the pain and my husband functions normally now. I worry that he is becoming addicted.(if that is possible) as he has ran out of the medication and has had a
terrible time with very restless legs and he can't go to sleep.
He paces the floor all night. He also scratches and seems to
have excessive thirst while on the meds. He takes four or five at a time a couple times a day.

I have just started taking ultracet today. I was prescribed 2 tabs 4x's a day. I have taken 4 tabs so far. The pain is better but the pharmicist told me and my partner to watch out for psychotic episodes since I am taking 20 mg of Paxil a day. SCARY!!! So far just stomach upset. But not intolerable. NO PAIN!! I have suffered from chronic pain for 3 years after I tore my scapula away from the muscle and ligaments. I do feel a little wired. I was also told it was non habit forming. I have taken morphine and loritab but cannot handle the withdrawl. I think 8 tabs a day is a lot. Let you know as the days progress. Especially about the psychosis. My Dr. was informed about the Paxil and said it should not become a problem. We will see.

I'm only 21 years old, Female from NY. I was born with scoliosis and i've been in two major car accidents. I take about 2-4 Vicodin's a day, and decided to try Ultracet in order to decrease the amount of acetomenaphen to my liver daily. I find that I need to take TWICE as many Ultracet in order to feel comfortable daily, well about 4-6 pills daily.
I remember having side effects years ago, I think i'm totally immune now when it comes to Vicodin and Ultracet.
Am I the only one who's taking more than 3 a day?
I now notice that I am probably better off just sticking with the Vicodin, as I have chronic back pain and nerve damage in my spinal cord. As for the addiction part... I cannot go more than a day without my meds, so I am addicted. My advice to those who have to take these medications daily to keep a quality of life? Do as I do, DONT EVER RUN OUT!
Good luck all.

Been on this medication about 3 months, but take it only at bedtime. I have Periodic Limb Movement and take Mirapex to stop the jerking at night, but have breakthrough movements. This medication was given to help me sleep thru those movements because taking more Mirapex was not a good option. Recent sleep study showed marked improvement. Also take low dose of Neurontin for neck pain. I read that some have tortured nights. That was me before the medication. Before diagnosed with the Periodic Limb Movement, if I took certain cold medicines or caffeine at night, my brain felt like a war zone, I was fitful and agitated, writhing mercilessly in the bed, stuck somewhere between awake and asleep. When taking Sinemet this happened if I wasn't real careful. Now I sleep pretty good for about 5 hours - almost a miracle. If you are a restless sleeper (not a wide awake insomniac) check for underlying sleep disorder before giving up on a pain med that is working for your pain.

I've been taking Ultrcet for about a month for shingles. Frankly, I hurt so bad to start with that all I wanted to do was sleep and that's what two Ultrcets let me do. The side affects initially were nausea and loss of appetite. Once I decided to eat regularly, hungry or not, the nausea has gone away. I've had to work and found that I can only take a half a tab every three to four hours during the day and still function. I've evidently built up a tolerance to them now because I have to take two about nine at nite and another two about two in the morning. I appreciate the thoughts about tapering off rather then quiting cold turkey. I've been non-social too but it's mainly because I don't feel good anyhow. The pain from the shingles is unrelenting and I have to stay on top of the pain meds, making sure the dosage is adequate without using too much. The initial outbreak went away and I still have all the pain and now I think I'm getting another outbreak. Seeing the doctor next week. Not a drug I'd want to take on a regular basis but it sure helps for now.

My doctor gave me this medication for 2 reasons, 1.) my RA and 2.) the pain that I keep getting in my ear.
Now yes it has made me feel kinda happy , but I do not take it unless the pain in my ear gets really bad, I really don't take it for the RA like I am supposed too.
Last Oct. I fell in the bathroom and injured my ribs on the left side, I did use this medication , about 1 pill every 8 to 10 hrs. . I don't like to take precription drugs unless I have too!
However I was glad I had it for that pain as we were traveling the next day for a week.
I did in Oct. notice that it was hard even with the way I took it then to come off it. I gave it much thought and lowered the med. till I got to 1 ever other day and then I stopped it.
This March I started with pain in my ear so bad that it kept me awake at night so I tried the ultracet for that , again being careful as to how much I would use. It has helped me with that.
Please note I am a person who can't take much pain meds or antiinflamatory meds. I have many medical issuse. I will find herbal meds that work better. Like most of us you need to research anything you take and above all use common horse since!!!
Some people have no tolorance to meds others can do better . You have to find what works best for you!!
I will not take the ultracet on a regular bases. Take only if really needed and still be prudent with it.
As for my ear I will be seeing an Ear, Nose & Throat Spec..
Again My side effectS as follows:
Happy feeling
Headache after it wore off
If I took it more the 2 with in 24 hrs. I felt dizzy!
therefore I know my do's and don't with this med. .
To all of you out there always read what is in it , know your body and look for other things you can do .

I just started taking ultrecet. I have been on lortabs & I am trying to save them. So far I have experienced nasuea & sleeplessness. None of the euphoria yet. I thought it was just a simple pain pill. I had no idea there was so many side effects. Funny how they don't tell you about all that. One thing that really irritates me is when the dr. gives you something like lortab or ultracet & you do get addicted they blame the patient & not themselves. Without there help you wouldn't be able to get the medication. Thank all you for your comments. It will make me think again about this medication.

I've taken Ultracet for about 4 years almost every day, morning and night time and sometimes in the afternoon depending how severe my pain is. I take 2 pills each time. It does help take the edge off my pain. My doctor said my Fibromyalgia is as bad as it can get, plus I have severe arthritis through my whole body. I can hardly stand up straight and trouble walking. Ultracet seems to help better then Ultram for me. I'm concerned about how long I've taken Ultracet and damaging my liver or other organs. Does anyone know how long you can continue using Ultracet before it does damage. I'm very concerned about that issue because it does somewhat help with pain. I haven't noticed any side effects using Ultracet. If anyone knows how long you can stay on Ultracet without any harm, please post your knowledge or experience. Should I also have my blood monitored periodically?
