I just got a root canal because my tooth is "dying" and it was causing severe pain throughout the whole right side of my face, head, and ear. I asked the Ortho not to give me Percocet or Vicodin because I get nauseous / puke profusely. I took an Ultracet and luckily I only felt a twinge of nausea... just on the brink of nauseous but I could live with it. It also made me feel really dopey and high. I liked the feeling because I had been days of severe pain and finally it was gone after the numbing from the dentist and the Ultracet... However, when I took one just before bed (4 hrs after 1st dose) I did get nauseous. I also felt twitchy and restless. My mom takes Ultram religiously for her headaches, and takes two at a time... I don't know how she does it. She is dependent on them. I went to work today and took one because my face started pulsing again. It was interesting because I didn't get nauseous and I felt more productive. I did get dopey for about 45 minutes but it went away and the pain stayed gone well after that. So in my short experience with this drug, I've noticed the side effects aren't as bad during the day (maybe because I'm moving around more and not concentrating on them). I've also noticed that if taken during the day I got a little bit of an energy burst after the 45 minute dopey phase passed. Now it's night time again and my face hurts again, so instead of taking a full pill, I broke it in half (Verified with pharmacist that it's okay), and took an 800mg ibuprofen. Hopefully, I won't get sick and I'll sleep through the night without a pounding face alarm clock.

After I underwent the procedure for preparations for a dental crown, I experieinced bad headaches, earache and my many teeth would ache bably out of the blue. I took ultracet last night and my pain went away. However, about an hour after taking it, I felt dizzy, spacey, and then felt extreme sleepiness. Here it is, the next morning, I am at work, and I still feel a bit out of it. Glad it can relieve my pain but not sure if I want to experienced these side effects again.

I am taking Ultracet. It was prescribed for me by my doctor for my fibro. I had the headaches but they went away. The highness lasted 1 week into it. Now I am fine. It kills almost all of the pain and I am in no way addicted to it.
I highly recommend anyone to give it a try for fibro relief. Medications act differently for everyone. I think its worth a shot.

I was perscribed ultracet for kidney stone surgery. Im was 20 yrs old. Im now 21 and am addicted to the drug. I take 4 a day and if i miss a does i go through withdraw symptoms that include headaches but mostly im unable to sleep. i cringe at night, my legs and my hands i constantly jerk them up and squeeze into a ball. My husband says i keep him awake. This drug gives you a great feeling, and it does take away the pain. When im on it all the time, i sleep 12-20 hrs a day. My life depends on this drug. I have no problem at all getting a perscription, and my insurance covers all but $6.00. Im a real drag when im off it. Please think twice, three times before starting this drug. The cons outweigh the pros.

It was interesting to read about the varied responses to Ultracet. I have severe, chronic pain due to arthritis in both knees. Walking had become very painful and difficult. Not being able to tolerate the itching and headaches from codeine, I found Ultracet to be extremely effective. I can go up and down stairs with much less pain. I've taken it for two months and have not experienced any impairment in mood or judgement. However, some of the reports on this website concern me and I will consult my doctor again.

I have chronic back aches and headaches. My doctor prescribed Ultracet and I began taking it today. It hasn't TOUCHED my back and neck pain. I'm also worried about insomnia, after reading other people's posts. I don't think this medicine is working for me. Codeine is the only effective pain reliever, for me, with this kind of pain.

I was just given Ultracet today, and what a feeling, it is one I do not like. I took two pills, went to pick my kids up from school and felt like I was stoned out of mind. Right now I am a litle sick to my belly and light headed. It helped the headaches but I don't like the other feelings I am now having.

I took Ultracet for a total of 5 days to relieve the pain from shingles in my leg and foot. Although my doctor prescribed the drug 4 times per day, I found that the first one knocked me out for 14 hours. When I awoke, I had the mother of all headaches and pain in my right eye. About 40 minutes after taking the second pill on day 2, the eye pain was gone, but a mild headache continued...However, I found that I could not attain a deep sleep. I stayed in bed, feeling drugged, but never drifted into a comfortable sleep; I was restless and antsy. On day 3 I took an Ultracet in the morning and one at night, the same dose for day 4 and only one on day 5. I continued to be restless and agitated with a numbing headache. I also felt that my thought process was noticeably slowed down. I discontinued the drug on the 5th day for two reasons: First I had a dizzy spell, and second, I developed a tremor in my left hand that would flare up for several minutes and then go away. As for the relief of pain, it took the edge off the pain in my leg but never really alleviated the nerve pain on the top of my foot. I still have pain, but after discontinuing Ulracet a week ago, the headache is gone, and the occassional tremor stopped 5 days ago. I'm also back to my regular sleep pattern. It's my humble observation that I'm actually getting more relief from a tube of muscle rub now than I got from the Ultracet.
