I just started taking ultrecet. I have been on lortabs & I am trying to save them. So far I have experienced nasuea & sleeplessness. None of the euphoria yet. I thought it was just a simple pain pill. I had no idea there was so many side effects. Funny how they don't tell you about all that. One thing that really irritates me is when the dr. gives you something like lortab or ultracet & you do get addicted they blame the patient & not themselves. Without there help you wouldn't be able to get the medication. Thank all you for your comments. It will make me think again about this medication.

PLEASE READ: I have read all the captions regarding the use of Ultracet and the group can or could be broke down specifically into two groups. Those with Chronic Pain and those with Pain. The ultracet probably will not work well for those that experience just enough pain and see relief from an uncomfortable feeling. On the other hand, I for instance, have been in almost constant pain after having a benign tumor removed from the interior of my spinal cord 01/23/1994. The tumor had itty bitty fingers that wrapped itself or entertwined into my cord. It was removed but unfortunately, the area affected "between my shoulder blades" somehow interupted a nerve that runs under my right arm pit down tricep area of my arm to my elbow. The pain is described as a hornets sting where you actually feel the insect pumping venom into you. On a good day, the pulse of pain accurs about 2-3 times a minute. While on a bad day the pulse of pain occurs about every 2-3 seconds. I went over 10 years trying stimulation, physical rehab (5) jogging ect.. Where I have tried everything you can imagine to remove this pain, in Aug of 2003, I elected to use narcotics. I went a year on lortab and decided to stop. It was a bad 3 days but I survived it. My doctor then put me on ultracet about 6 months ago and I really like it. I take enough to make my pain stop, I dont care if its 4 of 10. I've had all the pain I can take. I am a Policeman and have been for 24 years. I dont like the idea to being addicted to ultracet, but it could be a lot worse. Those of us in the category of Chronic Pain must come face to face with the realization that addiction is a major result of our treatment. IM SORRY, but thats just the truth. Im willing to deal with it at this point because like I said, I just cant take the pain anymore. Like I said before, I went 10 years before taking pain medications because I was a Police officer and I had to work and raise 3 kids. Well, Im ready to retire now and all my kids are gone. I hope I havent bored anyone but I just wanted my Chronic Pain people to know, IT"S OKAY to be addicted. IT's NOT GREAT, BUT, IT's OKAY. Use your medication as your doctor prescribes it and remind him that you want kidney and liver check up's about ever quarter. That should prevent you from damaging your vital organs. PeAcE...

I have been struggling with sinus allergies/sinus irritations for about twenty years. I was also diagnosed with CFS. I have had 3 sinus surgeries, tried many different meds/herbs, and many other therapies. Tried about every antihistamine and antidepressant. Two-months ago I complained about sinus headaches and was given ultracet. This not only took care of the headache, but my nose cleared up significantly; I felt like I could breath. It has changed my life more than anything I have previously done. I feel great. I take 1-2 pills about every 3-4 days. If take too late in day can't sleep. I have had lortab and other painkillers on rare occasion and never had a liking for them. Ultracet has given me new energy and a life. Again, I feel that I have tried everything with little help. I am a mental health professional and I feel my job performance has dramatically improved. Just positive side effects for me!!!!!

I have been on Lortab for about a year, only taking a max. of two pills a day and most of the time only taking one a day. I started seeing a new Dr. due to the fact that I am terrified of surgery. I am starting physical therapy now and my Dr. has put me on Ultracet in the mean time. I took one pill yesterday afternoon, an hour later I felt very disoriented, much the same as when I stared taking Lortab. I did seem to have alot of energy, again the same as when I take Lortab. I took one more about 4 hours later because it did not seem to help with the pain in my lower back. I then began to itch like crazy, mainly my nose, I thought I was going to rub it right off my face. I did not have any problems sleeping, but this morning I felt like crap. My head hurt and my eyeballs hurt (if that makes any sense at all). I felt a lot of tension in my back and neck so I took an Alieve; did not even touch the headache. I was scared of taking another Ultracet so I took a Lortab this afternoon. Headache and tension are now gone, I will try to take another Ultracet this evening. I know they say this not an addictive drug, but the euphoria it gives you is great. For people who are addictive type people, this would be an easy drug to become dependent on. Be careful.

I have been taking ultracet for my menstrual cramps for quite some time and, like a lot of you here on this board, I have had some pretty weird side effects. First, the insomnia...ohh boy...I just lay in my bed and listen to the fan go whirrrrr whirrrr until I feel like it's talking to me in some robotic language. Then, the itching starts and my hands are constantly busy relieving various body parts for a few hours. I do warn you though, DON'T TAKE ON EMPTY STOMACH...I did this once and puked big time! It was no fun. Other than these weird occurrances, this is the only medicine that has helped the pain. I wish I could get Lortab, but you know...
