I started taking verapamil about three weeks ago and have had diariah(sp?) since. I have had only one headache since. Is this a normal response?

I am a long term sufferer of migranes and take daily tryptans to control them. My physician put me on verapamil for high blood pressure and for a year or so I was comfortable with the regimin. However, now when I take the verapamil I develop a staggering headache within an hour of the dose and am at a loss? I have experimented and not taken the drug and not had the headache and then taken the pill the next day and the result was a migrane that came on in spite of taking the tryptan....axert. Is there a reason for this happening?

I have been taking verapamil for seven years, but I have to watch the dosage. My doctor took me up 3 180mg pills a day but that made me so tired and weak in the legs I could not take my daily short walks

If I get a headache and find my pulse quite strong, I will take a additional half or whole pill for just that time. Doctors always want to go by the BP readings they get in the office, but surely by now everyone knows that the reading can be high from the "white coat syndrome" and that BP varies widely all day every day in every person.
