Several months ago my dr prescribed verapamil and quinapril to control my high blood pressure. My diet is the same as before taking these medications, but my cholesterol and triglycerides are much higher now. Total cholesterol has gone from 168 to 217. This may not be related to the drugs, but my cholesterol level has been fairly constant for several years.

I am a long term sufferer of migranes and take daily tryptans to control them. My physician put me on verapamil for high blood pressure and for a year or so I was comfortable with the regimin. However, now when I take the verapamil I develop a staggering headache within an hour of the dose and am at a loss? I have experimented and not taken the drug and not had the headache and then taken the pill the next day and the result was a migrane that came on in spite of taking the tryptan....axert. Is there a reason for this happening?

I have very high blood pressure. I was on a beta blocker for years (my heart runs extremely fast) to slow the heart down. Too many side effects - asked the doctor to change. First of all NEVER go off of a beta blocker cold turkey (yuk). Anyway, my heart is really fast (I am on 240 mg). It seems that my heart still is running extremely fast and I have developed the most horrible pain in both of my arms. It is from my elbows down to my fingertips. It feels like someone is squeezing my arm really tight. My fingers are tingly. Is this a possible side effect or has anybody ever experienced this before?????
