I have been taking 300mg of generic wellbutrin XL for about 2 years. I recently started doing some research on side effects because I always feel dazed and out of it. It never feel like I am awake—it’s like I am in a constant fog. I consistently feel groggy, can never think of the correct words to say and have trouble concentrating on even mindless tasks. I spoke to my doctor and he said that I can go off of it; that sometimes antidepressants can have these types of effects on a person. How long will it take for the brain fog to go away? I really hope that these are symptoms from the medication and not something else because I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’ve began to taper down—I’m supposed to take 150 mg for a week and then go off of it.
I'm so sick of being dazed and confused!!

The only medication i take is Wellbutrin Xl low dosage. I don't know if this is actually FROM the Wellbutrin, but about 9 months ago, i developed urinary tract symptoms of chronic urination. I have to go to the bathroom dozens of times a day , and at night I get up 6-7 times to pee. Full bladder pees.
I do drink more water during the day, as i get dry mouth from the medication, but this is not just related to water, because if i stop drinking more water, this will still occur. I'm in good health and my doctor told me I am too young to have urinary dysfunctions that come in older age. There is nothing found by ultrasounds. I Was wondering if anyone else on WELLBUTRIN XL is experiencing this as well. Also, recently I had a sudden increase in my blood pressure. I don't have a history of this.
I am 49 yrs old, white female and in generally good health.
I would not fail to mention that Wellbutrin XL is an excellent Antidepressant, the best of any of the others i have tried over the years. I am almost fully functioning, but still working on my issues.
I actually have felt emotions that were happy and positive on a recent basis after many years of "numbness". this drug has not had any headaches, anxiety causing, that wheel spinning or disorientation those other antidepressants had for me. I had to stop taking more than 8 different antidepressants in the past.
I'm just mostly wondering about urinary dysfunction issues. Please post if you are using this and having this.

I love Wellbutrin! I've tried many other anti-depressants: zoloft, effexor, cymbalta, generic wellbutrin (budeprion, NOT the same! don't let your insurance make you get the generic for this one!), and celexa. This is by far the best. I gained 35 lbs when I went on cymbalta (in just 4 months!) and within 3 months of starting wellbutrin, I've lost 25 of it. Most importantly, I'm hardly ever depressed now (and when I am, there's a reason for it, unlike before). I also have so much more energy! Unmediated and on the other anti-depressants I was sleeping over 10 hours a day between naps and regular night-time sleeping and I was still tired all the time. Now I can feel perfectly rested on the normal 7-8 hours a night, without needing naps as often. I also don't get headaches on the name-brand Wellbutrin like I did when I was on budeprion.

I'm back on Wellbutrin AGAIN for the, I don't know... 4th time. lol I feel less depressed, but noticed I crave sweets like crazy. NOT GOOD. Especially for me. I gained 40 lbs on meds for migraines over 2 yrs. I've lost 21 this yr thanks to lamictal (had to go off..got itchy) and Topamax (making hair fall out and giving me severe acne, and just learned it's why I snap at the kids all the time). so craving sweets is NOT a good side effect, but the doc just looks at me like I'm an ass when I mention it. It's an important side effect darn it. Why don't they want to take us seriously? It's our body, our life! I'm tired of being overweight!!!! So I'm taking charge, I'm telling HER what the game plan is. Unfortunately I have 2 doctors.....one for migraines and one for depression. ARGH! Getting them both to listen isn't going to be easy. I want off Wellbutrin, Topamax and Abilify. I'm starting Lamictal again.....very slowly....maybe no itchiness this time. Wish me luck.

so far i took it for about two months. Yes it's an anti-depressant aid, but I was prescribed this medication to help with my smoking habits. I felt a surge of energy, and a concentration to do things, but I've also noticed that it keeps me awake. It's similar to insomnia. It's not that I can't sleep, but that I don't want to. I know that if I just lay down and go to sleep I most likely will. But other than that, I don't believe it has helped me quit smoking. It, I guess, made me feel happy? I really don't think it worked...

So far I've been taking Wellbutrin for about 1 week now and I've noticed I've been very short tempered with everyone and very angry....I've heard this does happen...but will it go away? I'm gonna give myself time to let my body get used to it..my doctor said it takes about 3 weeks for it to work...so hopefully my body will get used to the side effects by than...also I'm noticing some weight loss and its only my first week..so thats a plus

I've been on Wellbutrin XL about five months and prior wellbutrin SR. The XL has taken soo much of my hair out and hasn't helped my depression at all. Every time I washed my hair I'd get hands full of hair, it' s enough to make a small wig. The only positive thing is that I've lost 20lbs. I've stopped taking them cold turkey now about a 10 days.
