I miss me...WB has turned me into a zombie and I'm more depressed than before. I've only been on it for 5 days, but I don't think I want to see if it works out after reading these posts. One of my major complaints about WB are the constant hallucinations. While mild they make me anxious, agitated and a little paranoid. I don't have much in the way of visual hallucinations, mostly hearing sounds and perceiving them to be threats and smelling odd smells that don't exist. I'm also emotionally "flat", have no interest in anything and I'm shaky and feel very cold most of the time. And I've never had anger issues before, but now I don't trust myself around anyone. I just want to be alone. I was told this medication would work for Seasonal Depression and help me to quit smoking, but right now I miss how I normally feel. Has anyone else had hallucinations? Do they go away or should I quit taking WB right away? It doesn't make sense to suffer for a full month when my seasonal depression only lasts for 4 months anyway - does it make sense to hang in there and see what happens? After reading these postings, if WB doesn't work for me, I'll go back to being un-medicated. It doesn't seem so bad now.

I'm taking generic 100mg SR twice a day. After only 5 days, do I have to worry about withdrawals if I quit?

I have been on wellbutrin for 3 weeks (to quit smoking) broke out with horrible hives went to ER he said it was NOT from wellbutrin. I need to follow up with Doctor but I am afraid they will take me off wellbutrin. Hives are mostly gone. Continue to have some itching. I like the way I have been feeling and starting to smoke less and less.

I am participating in a research study for Wellbutrin helping smokers to quit. I am 25 years old. The study is a double blind study so there is a possibility that I am on placebo...but judging from my feelings - I am not. I have been on wellbutrin for 8 days now. I went from 150mg to 300mg in the course of 3 days. My symptoms/side effects include feeling "blah", not having interest in conversation, coordination problems (I have had issues with walking up and down stairs; almost to the point of falling), small episodes of memory loss, and I am thinking possible hair loss. The hair loss is the most devastating to me and I am going to stop taking wellbutrin because of it. I will find another way to quit smoking - there is no sense in taking something that is going to make me feel horrible about myself. Has anyone quit taking it and have their hair grow back?

Been on welbutrin (bupropion) 150mg sr for 4 years. I quit smoking after about 6 months the taste of cigs were nasty. I lost 30 pounds but also started my workout at curves. I have had neck pain for about a year now and I am wondering if this is a side effect of the welbutrin. Went to a specialist at a university orthopedic and nothing is wrong with my neck but the muscles in the back of my neck hurt constantly. Also has anyone ever tried the super dieters tea while on welbutrin. Overall I have had no side effects with welbutrin everyone is different though.

I've been on WB (generic) for about 3 weeks to quit smoking which I have. I am taking it at night with Xanax. I didn't know I was having side effects until I started feeling strange. I was dizzy at first, but thought I was just sick. I was also a little headachy. Today I was in the grocery pushing a cart and kept getting shocks in my left hand. I took my hand off the cart and it went away. My major complaint right now is feeling very depressed and hopeless, want to cry but ccan't seem to. Also feeling like I could lose control. If I go off this drug will I start smoking again?

i have been taking wellbutrin for almost 3 months to quit smoking (300mg/daily). BE VERY CAREFUL with antihistamines-i took one not long after i started the wellbutrin & felt that horrible seizure-ish feeling coming on, paranoia, racing thoughts & found out from another doc that they are not supposed to be mixed. which sucks for me, because i have suddenly become allergic to dogs & can't take any benadryl-my allergist says there is nothing that she can do until i can take it.

i asked about weaning off it (this med has me scared s*less now). i took it every other day for about 2 weeks. i haven't had it in about 4 days & i feel ok, a little psycho at times, but nothing out of the ordinary lol (i haven't been on it long at all, so i don't know if someone who's been on it for years should get off it the way i am). i just want it out of my system so i can get some relief from my allergies!!!

Not sure if the side effects are a cause of weaning coming off of Effexor or beginning Wellbutrin XR 300 mg.

I have been feeling quite dizzy and light headed, also very on edge for the past week. And I guess the best way to desribe it would be small shocks inside my hide. Like someone or something is pounding inside my skull. I weaned off of Effexor completely a week ago and started on the Wellbutrin XR 300 mg.

Anyone else experiencing similar symptons?

Cyn

I am 42 years old and I started taking wllbutrin to quick smoking. That aspect went fine and I quit smoking but, I've had two other issues come up.

When I suddenly quit taking the medicine, I became almost irrational and depressed. I had to go back on it and then I mellowed out.

The other thing was that I developed severe asthma. I had always had minor issues with asthma but I hadn't had an attack since I was a kid. It got so bad that I had to go to the emergency room and they said that wellbutrin was probly the cause.

Delema!!! Do I stay on the wellbutrin so I won't be a mad man or do I become a madman and breath?

Hello.

I am 26 years old with no health issues at all. Wanted to quit smoking, Dr. prescribed me bupropion/Wellbutron SR 150 mg.
I was instructed to take 1 pill a day for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks I set my quit date and then take 2 pills a day. (300mg)
For the first 2 weeks...I really didnt feel like myself. Felt like I can snap at one moment and then calm the next moment. ok, not such a big deal.

During week 3 I quit smoking and increased the dosage to 2 pills a day as instructed. I quit on Saturday, July 16th 2006. On Tuesday i started off with my regionals itching like crazy! I wasnt sure why this was happeneing so i put some anti itch cream and helped some what. I would just keep breaking out with the same bad itch anyway. Then...Wednesday, July 19th I woke up 2:00 AM with real bad chest pains and I was itching all over the place. From my head, neck, arms to my back and front of my body and basically had rashes all over the place.
They would disappear from one spot and appear in a different spot. I then started researching all over the internet about te side effects and I did find a ton of people expereincing the same things. From 2 AM i couldnt go back to sleep because of the pain in my chest and the HORRIBLE ITCHING and rashes.
I went ot the ER around 10:00 AM and stood there till about 5:30 PM. When I was in the ER i started breaking out even worse. My right eye was closing shut and my right hand became so itchy and swollen it looked like i broke my hand.
They quickly gave me a shot of Benadryl and some steroid with it and after about 30-60 minutes... the swelling started going away. They didnt find any realtionship from the Wellbutrin and my chest pain and the itchingness which i didnt understand.

Anyway, i still have some rashes breaking out...I have been using Benadryl which will control it a little bit but then I switched over to Claritin because i couldnt stand feeling like a walking Zombie from the Benadryl.

I am still researching and waiting for my Dr to come back to figure out how I can get rid of the itchy rash breakouts. I also feel just mild pain in my chest about once or twice a day for about 10 minutes.

If anyone knows anything that can help me...I would appreciate it.

thanks.

I have chronic neck and back pain. My Doctor put me on Wellbutrin to help me quit smoking with the theory being my circulation would improve and the damaged areas in my back might heal.
I don't know if I will make it. I don't care if I have to quit smoking. I know I should anyway. The problem is the side effects. He took me off Xanax when he put me on Wellbutrin and my panic attacks started to come back, so I went back on the Xanax. But the worst side effect is the irritability.
I have to use every ounce of strength I have not to snap at people. I see my Doctor on Monday and I hope he has an answer. This is no way to live. Even simple things make me angry and want to fly off the handle.

I started taking Wellbutrin in October 2004 to quit smoking. Started at 150mg and moved up to 300 mg. Within two weeks of taking the higher dose I experienced dizziness, nausea, vertigo, tremors, muscle cramping, panic attacks, heart palpitations, concentration problems, decreased appetite, hypersensitivity to motion, smells and sounds, crying spells and feelings of impending doom. I went to the emergency room on three different occasions because I felt like I was having a heart attack (tightness in chest, racing heart, nausea, trouble breathing) and was told I had nothing wrong. I also had thoughts of suicide because I felt so bad I wanted to make it stop. I went back to my doctor and requested he taper me off due to the side effects. He did and after a month I still had the symptoms. I missed a month of work and had to stay with family because I couldn't take care of myself or my 3 year old and my husband didn't know what else to do. I finally went back to the doctor and begged for relief. I also requested he run tests to check for other causes. He did blood work and 12 lead heart monitor and found I had slight tachycardia (palpitations), but said I was healthy. He diagnosed me with having General Anxiety Disorder and put me on Paxil. I've been on Paxil for 9 months and still have some symptoms albiet much milder than before. I am now sure that any SSRI's are not for me and am looking for alternative therapies. Also, I am going to see an endocrinologist and a cardiologist just to make sure I have no other problems. I would suggest not taking a drug to quit smoking-cold turkey is the best! I was perfectly normal before I started taking these drugs. This past year has been a living nightmare. I realized my experience is very intense compared to others who have taken Wellbutrin and people react differently to medications but I would have to say that had I continued taking it I would have died. I am 36 years old, have a wonderful family and a job I love. I do not believe I have an anxiety disorder! If anyone who reads this has had a similar experience, my suggestion is to SLOWLY get off it with help from your doctor and find alternative therapy, ie. biofeedback, nutrition, homeopathic, ect. Good luck to all of you!

I've been on Wellbutrin XL for about 9 weeks now and I originally started out on 150mg a day and now my dose has been upped to 300mg a day. I was put on wellbutrin to see if it would help me quit smoking and also for depression. Previously I was on Zoloft and Buspar together. (I won't even get into the side effects with those two)

1. After about a week on 150 mg I experienced sharp and short headache pains in different places but that has since gone away.

2. I am on a computer at work for 8 hours a day and sometimes it seems to take me a few seconds to catch up with the words/numbers I'm typing and at times It seems like I'm re-arranging letters or numbers around backwards without really noticing it unless I check it as I type. Hopefully this will go away it seems to be slowly disappearing.

3. I've also noticed an increased sensitivity to light.

4. I've also felt very energetic, pulse racing and keep thinking my heart is going to jump out of my chest and sometimes there is some slight discomfort.

5. The oddest thing to happen and this only started happening 4 days ago is that I've started having heart burn symptoms and I've never really even had heartburn before maybe once or twice in my life. I think it has to be the wellbutrin but I'm not sure if thats a HUGE side effect or happens to most people but I did see a couple of people mention that in the previous posts. It's really starting to make me nervous and I've been taking tums etc. like crazy and I hope this side effect goes away as soon as possible.

6. An additional note to line 5 I've also experienced constipation.

7. I did experience a decrease in appetite for a couple of weeks but that seems to have stopped. I haven't noticed any weight loss or weight gain at all. My weight has stayed the same for the most part give or take a couple of pounds.

8. Sex Drive: orgasms are more intense

9. Dry mouth: that has stopped completely

10. I do drink alcohol and smoke regularly and due to the risks I was told not to suddenly stop drinking etc. due to reverse side effects of the wellbutrin and what could happen and I'm still drinking here and there so maybe thats causing the heart burn along with the wellbutrin; I'm not completely sure.

I have not experienced any joint pain, loss of hearing or ringing in the ears, hives, increase in acne or seizures since I've been on wellbutrin. The only side effect I'm having trouble dealing with is the Heart Burn and it has to be the Wellbutrin since I've never experienced it really before or I could just be getting older. (27) Either way it is has been almost intolerable at times.

All in all it's not a bad drug so far and hopefully as time goes on the side effects will lesson.

If you have experienced heart burn as a side effect feel free to respond I'm very curious to see how common it is.

This site has really given me some insight about this medication.

Best Regards

I have been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 months now. I orignally started taking it to quit smoking & have now been smoke free for 5 weeks. I have lost about 20 lbs. & I feel great. I have no problems going to sleep, in fact when I lay down I don't remember anything when my head hits the pillow. I haven't experienced any of the symptoms that others have listed, I think it just reacts differently with different people. I love it.

Took Wellbutrin 2 years ago to stop smoking, 2 weeks and 3 days after taking I woke up with flu like symptoms so I took some Ibuprofen. I broke out into big wheals and hives all over body. Not sure what caused reaction Wellbutrin or Ibuprofen, but I never got the flu. After reading posts it seems quite common for this to happen on Wellbutrin. However, if you were to ask dr.'s,pharmacists or allergists they say it is more likely ibuprofen. It seems after reading here that they are not very well educated re: side effects. Also have joint pain and swelling that I still have to this day. Good news, I did quit smoking, never want to go through that again. Hives lasted for a month.

Oh my GOD! I didn't think there were any side affects while taking wellbutrin . I'm taking it to quit smoking and it's working great for that! The problem is: when I masterbate or have sexual intercorse I get severe head pain. The kind of pain thats so intense you thick your going to die! My Dr. is sending me to have a MRI (cat scan) done on my head to check for a anuerisum. I'd rather smoke and be able to jerk off than continue with this stuff! BE CAREFULL!

I am a 28 year old woman that has been taking Wellbutrin for 4 months now to quit smoking. My entire life I have had really thick hair and just recently noticed it lots of it coming out in my brush and seems to be getting thin, which is scaring me, I have read alot of people complaining of this side effect (Had I know this before I took it I would have never even bothered with it) what I would like to know is how long does it take to get this medication out of your system (I should also add I only took 1 pill a week)and does anyone know if your hair grows back?
