I AM SO RELIEVED TO HEAR ALL OF THIS. MY LIFE HAS BEEN TURNED UPSIDE DOWN AND SHAKEN UP SO BAD FROM THESE HORRIBLE HIVES. TOOK WELLBUTRIN XL 150MG FOR 2 WEEKS AND THEN WENT UP TO 300MG ABOUT 1 WEEK LATER NOW THIS! I AM SO MISERABLE. MY ARMS HURT, MY HEAD FEELS LIKE I HAVE BUGS ALL OVER IT, AND THE HIVES ARE EVERYWHERE. THINGS THAT ARE HELPING ME COPE- AVEENO OATMEAL BATH IN LUKE WARM WATER (NOT HOT!) BENADRYL CAPSULES, AND BENADRYL CREME. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOCTOR TWICE AND WAS AT THE ER LAST NIGHT DUE TO TIGHT CHEST AND THROAT. WAS TOLD I HAD HIVES INSIDE ON MY ASSOPHAGIS (spelling? lol) ALSO. SO SCARY. I AM PRAYING THEY GO AWAY SOON.

My md prescribed the generic SR (100mg *twice a day) because Pristiq was killing my sex drive.
Day 1: About 15 days later, my hands began to burn and itch and then later the soles of my feet. I took my am Allegra and put benadryl cream on them thinking it was related to some lotion I used. I called my doctor and she told me to take an extra Allegra and to make an appointment. I asked if there was a connection to the Wellbuterin and she said she didn't think so. By then, I was convinced it was the lotion so I turned down the offer to make an appointment. By the end of the day, I started to get hives under my arms, my chest and my hands and feet were burning and itching again. I took 25 mg of Benadryl and the symptoms were relieved.
Day 2: I woke up to the same burning hands, feet and itchy skin. Took morning Wellbuterin as prescribed plus 2 Allegra. The itching was alleviated until about 8 pm. I skipped the evening Wellbuterin pill and took a benadryl to help with the hives.
Day 3: I woke up to the same burning hands, feet and itchy skin. Did not take Wellbuterin but did take 2 Allegra. The itching was alleviated until about 8 pm. I skipped the evening Wellbuterin pill and took a benadryl to help with the hives.
Day 4: So far, same as Day 3. I understand it takes 3 days for medications to exit the system. I will push fluids and hope that by Day 6, I will be itch free. I am making an appointment with md asap.
I understand that these side effects are common with the generic but not with the name brand. I am tempted to try the Wellbuterin (name brand) together with Prozac (I used to take 20 mg of Prozac for years but I was a fool and wanted to see what else was out there...Prozac worked fine). I do like the idea of mixing the Wellbuterin to give me a boost, but not if I'm going to get hives or lose my hair...
