I posted a while back about some terrible hives I had. I continued to take the medication and the hives stopped. I love the way this helps with my anxiety. I do feel a bit forgetful and dreams are odd sometimes. I mentally feel better than I have in 36 years....Didn't realize how full of compulsive behaviors I was. If you get the hives take benedryl. Mine cleared up after a few days.
Oh yeah, the weight loss is subtle. I have been on it about 2 months and have lost a bit of weight but it is the complusions to eat I am free from.

took welbutrin for a few weeks.. i couldnt breathe at all, and i didnt notice any weight loss (part of the reason i chose this meds). i was on it for situational depression and so maybe this is why it didnt work as well. im not sure what would have happened if i'd given it anuther chance but hallucinations from anuther medication following that has scared me away from all meds. ive been off any meds for over 6 months now and things are styll good so far.

I was on Effexor but the weight gain and the bloating was terrible.
My doctor put me welbutrinxl. I lost the weight but I always seem
to have a pain in my head. It is always in the same place deep in
my head over my lleft eye. It comes and goes all day long. One
minute it will be there and the next it will gone. It scares me
because I always brain tumor. Has anyone else had this experience
I am afraid to tell my doctor. I do not want tests done.

Been on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks. Have DREAMS all the time. Lots of gas. No weight loss, but weight gain with an increasing appetite. Stopped smoking using this medication with the patch. Works wonders. A lot of energy. Insomnia really bad. The medication and side effects are not so bad, I'm dealing.

Been on it since summer 2003, 150 twice a day.
Mostly the dizziness, which isn't as bad anymore.
However, it did raise my blood pressure. Not like hypertension, but the high end of normal. I'd always had LOW blood pressure. But when I'm dong more exercise, it's back to normal. My doctor monitors it. also:
Weight Loss: it really reduced my appetite and I was never a big eater and was already thin. But I lost about 10 lbs. That doesn't bother me too much, I do eat normally.
Hard to get to sleep or stay asleep. I have enough trouble with insomnia. It gets rid of depression but jazzes me up. I take ativan if I need to, i.e. if it takes too long to get back to sleep, but of course, I worry about becoming dependent.
I've developed hives recently and my dermatologist suggested it could be wellbutrin. I'll talk to my GP but I don't really want to change to an antipressant which may be worse with side effects, ie sexual, weight GAIN, etc. I don't know how it's possible to determine if it IS wellbutrin causing the hives.
None of the effects are very severe, just uncomfortable like the hives and the insomnia.
Generally I feel okay, and certainly better than when my moods were all over the place.

I am so glad to see that I'm not really going crazy and that it is the medication that's making me think that. I've been on wellbutrin for about 9 months now and I kept telling my doctor that something wasn't right? but he kept saying I would be o.k. it would take awhile. so i went and got a second opionion and of-course i was right. She said most likely it was the wellbutrin so i go in tomorrow for a CT and she took me off the drug. i was put on for depression which it seem to help in that aspect but maybe me gain weight, loss my memory, concentration problems, very moody, bad headaches, bad acne, and so on. I am not on any other drug so thats not it. my husband can hardly stand to live with me anymore he said I'm not the same women he married and if something didn't change he is living me.

Hello-
I am new to these postings. I am very please to finally come across some informative information regarding Wellbutrin products and their side affects. I feel very compelled to share my experiences with you, as I am also a true believer that this medicine despite the side affects can still make me feel amazing!!
First, I am very sensitive to medications, even certain vitamins. I started out with Wellbutrin (Reg/75 mg twice a day), loved it, felt alert not depressed, worked very fast but also wore off very fast, I could not stay awake in between dosages. So, they tried me on Wellbutrin SR (150 mg once a day), a few times over the course of four years, I never felt so alive, confident, energized in my life!!! Not to mention the weight loss and no more grogginess from SSRI's. But, after time yes, those nasty bed ridden headaches came, and living on Tylenol/Advil Migraine just wasn't the answer. Loved it though! With all the positives it gave me. (weight loss, being alert, anxiety gone, depression gone). But, it always came to those headaches and the hot flashes, and sometimes flu like symptoms!!! I would always convince myself that it was going to be different and these won't occur this time around, but it always did. Now, facing the withdrawel affects from the SR medication was horrifying!!! (no more confidence, headaches, overwhelming feelings of anxiety, more so than ever before, ringing in my ears for days, nightmares).
My recent trail has been with Wellbutrin XL (150 mg daily). My doctor and pharmacist said I would love it! Everyone who's tried it has really enjoyed this new version. So, afraid to death of trying it do to those headaches and the thought of going through withdrawel again scared me so badly!!
My pharmacist said start out with 150 mg every other day to see if your system can tolerate it, so I did and thought WOW it's really working (keep in mind with Reg and SR versions I could feel a positive affect immediately) then take it daily, but by the eighth day, my head started to hurt so I ran for the Advil.
Something I found very interesting and scary was I exhausted, very slowed down, by evening couldn't eat enough food, ringing or more like pulling down sensation on my ear lobes, by the fourth day I seemed like I gained about 7-8 lbs. still more tired than before, and by the eighth day I had problems talking correctly and had no ambition of getting off the couch, all I do is sleep, sleep, sleep, or stare at my children and husband like I was all fogged up in "no man's land", and by the tenth day all of any heavy feeling in my head went to my left side of my head, face, lips, arm, leg, I have a continuous numbness on my left side of my body so I decided enough is enough!! It has been five days since I went cold turkey (which I know is not the smartest move) but this numbness scares me, I almost feel as if I went to the dentist to have a few fillings put in and they gave me way to much of their stuff! I actually feel a little better each day, all aside from the withdrawel flu-like symtoms I'm having. I have to lay down a few times a day to rest my head, only the left side has occasional shooting pain through it and the numbness is still on my left side of my body down to my toes. I pray this feeling will go away soon! Yet, I know the emotional withdrawel portion of taking XL verison is still ahead of me, I just cannot bare the thought of all those extreme side affects.
I would gladly deal with Wellbutrin (Reg) and feel alert, and sleepy in between dosages rather than this. Hell, I would gladly go back on Wellbutrin SR and really feel alive even with the headaches than to ever take a chance with Wellbutrin XL EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (heck, I would go back to Prozac and deal with the spaciness, and weight gain, sexual side affects!)
*******PLEASE, PLEASE, IF THERE IS ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE THAT HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS PLEASE EMAIL ASAP*******
Thank for your time & sharing your experiences. I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience on these products, I still believe in them, but for whatever reason my brain/body cannot tolerate them............
Sincerely,
Tallie

I was on 100 mg twice a day and than 150 mg twice a day of bupropion generic for wellbutrin and I noticed no increase in mood elevation and only had negative side effects except for the 5 lb average of weight loss. I had itching and ear ringing in my left ear that has not gone away. I'm thinking of contacting a lawyer also like the other guy who wrote about the hearing loss. Heard about some hearing loss report on the news back in michigan but missed the report. Anyone else similar side effect?

Wellbutrin makes it easier to think for me. I am starting to lose the unwanted pounds that have been accumulating over the past 5 years. Taken first thing in the morning when I get up makes it easer to go to sleep by around 9:30. I sleep well, do not have any pain or stomache upset. My throat was a little sore in the beginning but that has gone away. I love this medication and will continue to use it for depression and weight loss.

Great site. I've been off Wellbutrin for 6 weeks about but was thinking about taking it again as my new job is very stressful. But this site reminded me of the reasons I quit Wellbutrin: hair loss, confusion (I thought Wellbutrin was supposed to HELP ADD, fer crying out loud), constipation, feeling out of balance, and having a strange, often terrible smell. The weight loss was great at first, but now I weigh less than I have for 30 years and am concerned. Since quitting Welbutrin I feel better and more alive how, but I have also been on vacation, so it's hard to sort out. Also, doctor has run tests for intestinal problems which may not have been associated with the Wellbutrin. Who knows. Good site. Thanks.

I had taken Wellbutrin SR 150mg 1x a day for over 2 months without noticing any effects. Now I am on Wellbutrin XL 300mg 1x a day for the past 3 months and have been experiencing sleeplessness for almost a month. I can get to sleep OK, but after 5 hours at most I just wake up - my mind is alert and I just have to get up. This is very tiring and makes for a long day. My "normal" sleep is about 7 hours.
I have also noticed weight loss, about 10lbs in the past month or so, without any decrease in appetite.
I am taking Wellbutrin for smoking cessation - I have noticed less of an urge to smoke and have been able to go for a longer time without a smoke, although I have not quit yet.

Weight loss, major headches, dizziness, fast heartbeat, ringing in the ears, and insomnia. However, after 3 weeks those symptoms are pretty much gone.

Been on Wellbutrin for almost six weeks. Started off with XL150 for the first two weeks and the last 3.5 weeks on xl 300. Have had a few side effects such as minor weight loss, cigarettes are starting to taste really foul, and over all I have a much better mood and attitude towards life. My doctor also prescribed me Xanax 0.5 for anxiety. I'm really enjoying the combo of the two. The last two weeks I've been under the care of a psychiatrist for severe depressive disorder. I'm starting to feel hopeful that I can once again feel good. I've been in a deep depression for the past two years since the death of my mother.

I have been on Wellbutrin XL for 1 week now and after the severe nausea and diarrhea I feel pretty good. No panic attacks so far. Although the upset stomach is still in full effect. Haven't quit smoking yet or noticed any weight loss. When should I expect it to kick in on the not smoking and weight loss
