I was prescribed Xanax yesterday for my panic attacks. I have seen many people in treatment and rehab centers for chemical addictions that also raved about Xanax and the "high" that came with it. I took my first dose yesterday and was so tired it was all I could do to crawl to bed. Is that normal? Does it make you extremely drowsy every time it is taken? If so, I can't imagine what the "high" most people get from it would be. Any input would be great!

My partner insists that he's not drunk & he's just very tired. He has slured speech, incoherent, unsteady on his feet & drops off to sleep in the blink of an eye. Could it be something other that drink related? or is he just pretending to himself he's ok?

I was prescribed Xanax yesterday for panic attacks. I have seen many people in treatment centers and rehabs for all sorts of chemical addictions. Xanax use seems to be among some of the drugs heard in their "war stories" as wonderful due to the high they get from using it. I took my first dose yesterday and was so tired I could barely crawl myself into bed. Is this the normal effect from Xanax? Does it continue if it is used on an "as needed" basis? I can't figure out what could be so wonderful about the drowsiness as a "high"?
