Xanax was the best thing that ever happened to me. It changed my life I feel normal again form suffering w/GAD and phobias. The side effects are minor and will subside if you are taking a reasonable dosage. I take 5mg only when i feel like i will have a panic attack. Its worth a try!

I was in a very serious auto accident in 1999 that left me in a coma for 2 months. I lost my spleen, 2/3rds. of my pancrease, broken ribs and sternum, broken pelvis and a severe head injury. I am on many medications due to my accident. by losing 2/3rds of my pancrease, I was left with diabetes, very painful periphral neuropathy that I am on pain meds for for life. I lost 40% of my cognative ability. Doctors tried all sorts of drugs to keep me calm preventing panic attacks (PTSD) and tachacardia episodes. The Pyciatrist that I finally was able to see Prescribed me 2 mg. of xanax 3 per day. I must say that this medication was my savior to having a normal life. Before I took this med I took Valium and that did nothing. BUT, this medication according to my Doctor said that it's not for all people, however he said it was custom made for persons in my condition. Without it I cannot get into a car. Have a civil conversation with others. I just sit and stare
all day. Even though I take celexa everyday, it does nothing for me. With the combination of celexa and xanax I am able to live a near normal life. As I said, I have many other physical problems controled by opiods. My life till date has meaning to it. God bless my Doctor that gave me my life back to me. Granted, I hurt non stop but at least I can function. Xanax is a good medication for the few it was entended for like me. I highly recommend it to those that take their meds responsibly.

I was prescribed Xanax yesterday for panic attacks. I have seen many people in treatment centers and rehabs for all sorts of chemical addictions. Xanax use seems to be among some of the drugs heard in their "war stories" as wonderful due to the high they get from using it. I took my first dose yesterday and was so tired I could barely crawl myself into bed. Is this the normal effect from Xanax? Does it continue if it is used on an "as needed" basis? I can't figure out what could be so wonderful about the drowsiness as a "high"?

I was prescribed Xanax yesterday for my panic attacks. I have seen many people in treatment and rehab centers for chemical addictions that also raved about Xanax and the "high" that came with it. I took my first dose yesterday and was so tired it was all I could do to crawl to bed. Is that normal? Does it make you extremely drowsy every time it is taken? If so, I can't imagine what the "high" most people get from it would be. Any input would be great!

I HAVE HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS FROM XANAX. WHEN YOU COME TO A POINT WHEN THEY HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING ELSE ON YOU AND NOTHING WORKS AND YOU CAN'T FUNCTION LIKE EVERYONE ELSE LIKE GO TO THE GROCERY,DRIVE, EVEN WALK DOWN THE STREET AND SOME DOCTORS TELL YOU THAT THIS DRUG IS ADDICTING AND THEY DON'T WANT TO GIVE IT TO YOU THEN YOU HAVE THE WRONG DOCTOR. I WAS BLESSED TO FIND ONE THAT SAID THAT IT WAS BETTER TO BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AND ENJOY LIFE RATHER THAN TO WORRY ABOUT BEING ADDICTED HE WAS SURE RIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE GONE FROM THE WORST TO ALMOST THE BEST. I CAN GO ANYWHERE I FEEL LIKE GOING OR NEED TO GO NOW. I CAN GET A FULL NIGHTS SLEEP. I DON'T HAVE MAJOR PANIC ATTACKS MAYBE LITTLE ONES IF I AM UNDER A LOT OF STRESS. IF YOU TAKE ONLY THE AMOUNT YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED AND DON'T MISS ANY OF THE DOSES IT CAN BE THE ANSWER TO A DECENT AND HAPPIER LIFE. MY DOCTOR SAYS IT IS A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE THAT CAUSES IT AND IN MY CASE I WILL HAVE IT THE REST OF MY LIFE AND THERAPY WILL NOT DO ME ANY GOOD AND I KNOW IT DOESN'T BECAUSE I TRIED THAT FOR YEARS ALSO. OF COURSE AS WITH ANYTHING IT MAY NOT WORK AS WELL FOR EVERYONE. YOU HAVE TO FIND WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU. BUT I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR IT.
