Yasmin and 33 years

I began taking Yasmin after the birth of my son in Sept 06. Keep in mind i have had ultra sounds of my legs to check arterial flow as i work in ultrasound. In april of 08 I went to the er because my toe was in excruciating pain and turning blue. I went in for an angiogram immediately where they found the femoral arterie of each leg was completely blocked. In the leg with the blue toe they put stents in. The stents occluded the same day. Then I had to go to another hospital to have bypass surgery since stents cant be reopened. The first surgery took 9 hours.. The bypass graph occluded within an hour. They took me back into surgery for another 6 hours. I had to have a plastic graph placed which doesn't last as long. I am only 33 years old so they can only guess how many replacements I will need to have of that graph. After dealing with the head of hematology for both Northwestern Memorial and University of Illinois they both concluded that it was a severe effect of oral contraceptives. I will have the next leg done in a year or 2. They think once the drug gets out of my system that I won't have the problem with immediate clotting. I will be on warfarin and plavix for about another 18 months since my body has been through so much already i cant take the chance of clotting again or I will loose the leg.

I'm 33 years old and had a baby back in November (almost five months ago). I never took birth control before, but after having my baby decided to try Yaz. I attributed my frequent insomnia, fatigue, and lack of sex drive to the fact that I had had a baby and was getting used to the pill, but now I am realizing that after all this time, all of my symptoms are probably due to this pill. I'm going to discontinue use of Yaz and see what happens. I can't handle the insomnia and lack of sex drive anymore. I can't have orgasms anymore and it is driving me crazy. I am also hungry all of the time, and my mood swings are much more severe than they should be, even at off times of the month. I hate to make my husband wear condoms, but if it means that I'll actually enjoy sex with him again it will be worth it!

I was put on Yasmin combined with Wellbutrin for PMDD ( pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder AKA really severe mood swings , depression and anxiety before my period) and for about a month it was great, no more moodiness and I was feeling much better...NOW after that first month I started breaking out in hives here and there with most of the issue being on or around my hands and feet, sometimes not just the hives but the palms of my hands and bottoms of my feet will become hot, red and swollen, not to mention INCREDIBLY itchy....I have been exhausted constantly, no appetite and blurry vision with some lightheadedness.....I have an appointment with a surgeon because my gallbladder needs to come out ( I have had gallstones for years but diet has controlled any issues with it) and has only been really bad since going on this....before I started taking it ( started taking it in May 2006)I was aware that the gallbladder problems were mentioned in the leaflet given and the doctor told me not to worry....also constantly having sinus issues and headaches, oh and forget about a sex drive too........I never considered that it could possibly be this until I started reading more about it, but I am getting tired feeling like yuk all the time, I have 5 children and I am 33 years old but I feel like I am 90.....anyone else experience the itchy hives thing?? I totally understand that you don't like to talk every day about that nightmare... And it's absolutely ok!! Just take and do anything you need, all that matters in the moment is you and your health!!

Well, what should I say: This sentence could have been written by me around January to June 2005!!! I felt totally old and tired and ill, without any hope to get better again some day and look at me now: I finally start feeling like an 40 to 50 years old happy woman and hopefully in a few months I will be feeling like the 33 years old, healthy and happy Silke again, which I always was before taking that nightmare pill!! :)

I feel so happy that I'm finally able to sing again (I've been a singer in a band since I was 17 years old and had to stop it 2 years ago because of my Yasmin illnes...). That was one of the worst things that was caused by this agony, that I even was no longer able to sing in my band..... I missed that so much!!! So I think this is the best proof for the fact, that there really IS a life AFTER Yasmin!! It might last a long time, but your old self and fitness will come back!!!

So keep looking forward, Sophie and everyone who's within the same situation right now. Better times are ahead!! The first and most important step was to get off Yasmin immediately. The rest will be done by your body himself, all it needs is time and patience!!

Hi, I have used Yasmin for nearly 2 years and 5 days ago I got a stroke (infaction in the right side of my brain). I am 33 years old and healthy. Has anyone knowledge of this??
