I started Yaz and within one week I had horrible anger, rage, mood swings, I couldn't sleep, and my acne actually worsened. I have PMDD, but the side effects of this drug was worse than any PMDD symptoms I have ever had.

hi everyone, i hope youre all ok
i made the decision to come off Yasmin last Sunday as it was making me so unwell, and so depressed
but i haven't really felt that much better; i still feel constantly nauseous and my period that started when i was on Yasmin seems to never be ending
i also feel extremely depressed and not myself at all
does anyone know how much longer it will last? im guessing its just the hormones trying to get back to normal?

I have a 16 year old daughter that has always been extremely healthy, very out going, very happy and energetic...until YAZ! My daughter was put on Yaz for irregular periods, it was nice that it helped her (very) mild acne. The first couple of months were fine, but then she started having a lot of symptoms...hair falling out, heart palpitations, bloating, depression, anger, crying, down mood all the time, I have rarely seen her smile in months, leg/joint pain, anxiety/nervousness, I can see her shake a lot, wanting to be by herself (which is totally not like her at all.) This medicine has helped her acne and period cramps, but totally destroyed her personality and her happiness! Is it worth the price...absolute NOT! I AM TAKING MY DAUGHTER OFF YAZ TODAY!!! Honestly, I do fear what this medicine could do to her life if she is not taken off of it ASAP. How sad this medication is even available, much less being prescribed to 16 year old! I only wish I would have known about this before my daughter took this evil pill! I am so sorry for those of you that have gone through all of this as well.

I have been on birth control since I was 16 due to severe cramps during that time of the month. I have been on several different kinds. They placed me on Yasmin about 3 yrs ago. I thought that was the best one that I had ever been on until I went off of it. I have been off of Yasmin for about 2 1/2 months, since then I have developed anxiety, panic attacks, depression, with racing thoughts. I have contacted my OBGYN who said that this would not be a side effect. I have to say that everyone's body is different. I would like to know if anyone else has experienced any of these symptoms and if so how long will I feel like this?

i've only been on Yasmin for two months, so maybe my body just needs to adjust or something...
that said, i've been experiencing:
-extreme mood swings (crying ...in harold and kumar, irrational random anger...generally just feeling kind of crazy), nausea, extreme hair loss, and headaches (when i usually don't get them at all).
I'll give it another month to clean up its act

I just started taking Yasmin on Sunday, since then I have had extreme nausea, bouts of sadness and anger, and a dull headache. Last night I had such a horrible migraine my vision was blurred. I woke up this morning feeling the same way and I had no energy. Can these side effects happen this soon after starting Yasmin?

Wow. This is all very interesting. I too thought I was crazy. My symptoms started with a resp. infections, (which I just now read is a side effect, I read this on the Yaz site), then the rash from head to toe. I had shots of cortisone and took predinozone. Very dizzy, high blood pressure, and the ANGER!!! I am mad at the world. I took it for one month, and wanted it to be the birth control for me, but my husband has taken them away from me and thrown them away. So I will continue to look for alternative BC.

I, too, thought I was crazy while on Yasmin and then on Yaz. I took Yasmin for 4 years until my doctor didn't have it and I was leaving on a trip and needed it so he gave me Yaz instead. I was paranoid, depressed, nauseas, etc. I also had horrible mood swings, which I never had before. My step dad died last year so I attributed a lot of my anger and other emotions to that, but now after reading all the other posts I believe all of this was caused by Yasmin. I was never like this before. I never acted like a crazy person before or was irritated by people. I am so thankful that I know it isn't me and it was the pill all along. Who knew such a small pill could cause that much drama.
When I started taking Yaz all of the symptoms got worse. Since I was only taking the pill to regulate my period and have lighter period, which never happened, I stopped taking the pill altogether. Since I stopped in August I have only had one natural period. I was really thinking I was pregnant for a bit because I was constantly sick to my stomach, had monster migraines, had to urinate a lot, and had cramps. I took a pregnancy test (even though it has been almost two years since I have had intercourse) and I am not pregnant. I went to my general practice doctor and he said that not having a period after you stop taking the pill is normal. I have missed two periods now and he says if it gets to the third one I should go see my gyn. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it indeed normal? When will my period come back (not that I am missing it, but I'd like to know what is going on in there).

Oh wow I am so happy to have found this site. In the last few months I have been feeling lower and lower in myself, this together with my complete and utter loss of sex drive is just getting beyond a joke. My boyfriend thinks it's him and he goes on and on about whether I still want to be with him etc etc and it's just making me feel worse so it's a terrible vicious circle.
I've been thinking about whether it was my pill for a few months now, I changed to Yasmin about a year ago now after my previous pill was giving me terrible mood swings and uncontrollable rage. I did notice a slight improvement in my moods at the very beginning but this has now led to anxiety, heavy breakthrough bleeding, irritability and a general feeling of low self worth which gets worse and worse by the day.. great for Christmas time!
I've now resolved to stop taking this pill and any pill for that matter. I'm going to see how I get on with no medical birth control and try to get my head and hopefully my sex drive back to normal.
I'm so glad to have found this and that it's not just me. I would not recommend this to ANYONE so if you are reading this to get an idea on whether to opt for this then I would say no.

Thank goodness I decided to look at this website. I am having the same side effects as everyone (anger, irritability, first of the cycle cramping). I am having another issue though; I stopped the active pills on Tuesday and today is Saturday and still I have not started my period. I can't find any research on this to determine if this is normal or not. I have been on birth control before and two days on inactive pills was enough for me to start. This is my first month on Yasmin and I think I have made a terrible mistake.

I was on Ortho Cyclen for many years and saw the commercial for YAZ. I wasn't having any real significant problems with the Ortho, but more crampy during the week of my period. I switched to YAZ because it was suppose to help those problems associated with your period. I was on it for 11 days when I noticed I a subtle cramping in my lower abdomen. It felt like the cramping I have during my period, but now I have it at the beginning of the pill cycle. I realize that I was just changing brands and my body would have to adjust to the change, but I couldn't take it any longer. I too had sudden mood swings all of the sudden (anger). I just stopped taking it 11 days in and already my cramps have started to subside. I wished I would have seen this website before I made the change. This pill is WACKED and it should be taken off the market. I have seen many websites with many women listing the same problems!!!

I put up with Yasmin for just 10 days because it turned me into a completely different person! I was shocked at how quickly it affected me! The doctor changed me to Yasmin because it would be better for my skin (I've been on Trifeme for about 3 years with no problems other than a recent skin pigmentation) and started taking it one Saturday morning. The next morning I woke up feeling terrible, and snapped at my bf really badly. I was really really angry for no reason at all! I got really dry, sore eyes and wasn't sleeping well at all. I'd be so tired during the day I felt like I could just put my head down on the desk and go to sleep!! These feelings continued and worsened every day, until I started feeling like I could punch something if it stepped out of line... and the tiniest things would annoy me so much, like simply my bf sneezing! After a week I looked up the side-effects of Yasmin (disbelieving that something could effect me so quickly) and when reading the many sites like these I suspected it could be the pill. After a few more anger attacks and crying for no reason (and a particularly bad case where I cut my finger and yelled at my bf because he got me a band aid, locking myself in the bathroom and crying for 30 minutes - go figure?) I decided to stop taking Yasmin. I've been off it for 5 days now and I feel so much better!!! Never again! I'm going to try a pill-free lifestyle for while I think and use other forms of contraception... it's just not worth it.

I am on my third month of Yasmin, and while my periods have been lighter and shorter, I have had the following side effects: loss of appetite, upset stomach, irregular bowel movements, hair loss, hair texture change, and a couple bouts of inexplicable depression/anger/hopelessness. I plan to change to another bcp as soon as possible.
