I am so happy to have found this website. I started taking Yasmin 2 months ago and was only on it for 1 month. I began a round of Prednisone at the same time due to hurting my back. Well, while tapering off of the pred (going into my 3rd week of Yasmin) I had one night of NO SLEEP. In the morning my muscles were so tight and painful I could barely walk. My heart was racing, I was so dehydrated I could barely speak, my vision was blurry, I couldn't form sentences clearly my head was in such a fog and I had lost 5lbs literally overnight ( I am already extremely thin naturally, so this is not a good thing for me) I was skin and bones. My normally thick, shiny hair became dry, thin and brittle and my skin broke out horribly and I had painful diarrhea. This is just the physical symptoms. The mental symptoms were out of control. I was crying all the time, yelling at everyone and just being completely irrational. I truly thought I was dying. My doctor thought maybe I was having withdrawal from the pred. This continued for a week until I started researching about Yasmin. I immediately stopped taking it after reading the side effects people were having as they were the same as mine. Strangely, they were also the same as prednisone withdrawal, the only problem was that I was off the pred and still having symptoms. Over the following 2 weeks, they slowly got better. Then, it all started again for my next cycle just to a much lesser degree since I was off the BCP. This makes me certain that my symptoms were absolutely from the BCP and not the Pred. I am reaching the end of my period today and my weight has gone back up and I am again starting to feel better. I just hope next month will be normal again. The thing that makes me the most angry is that my doctor refuses to believe that any of it had to due with the BCP. I have been on plenty of BCP's and NEVER experienced anything like this. This stuff needs to be pulled from the shelves or doctors need to be more aware of it's potential side effects and quit discounting our intelligence. Thank you everyone for your posts.

I started taking Yasmin about 10 days ago. On the first day I was at my computer and noticed that I suddenly couldnt focus on my screen. My vision became blurry. I also felt sharp shooting pains behind my legs.I took it for 7 days. During that time I became extremely tired, lethargic, fatigued, my eyes hurt. I slept for longer hours, and just felt generally drained. This was highly noticeable to me since I go to the gym everyday, and I didn't even have the zeal or energy to do that. My breasts became very sore and sensitive. The shooting pains moved from the back of my legs to random parts of my body. I stopped taking it after the 7th day and noticed an immediate improvement in my energy level the next day. I didnt need as much sleep, my eyes felt much better, not grainy and painful like I had to close them all the time. Now, the 11th day, my breasts are no longer tender, and all the other symptoms are gone. These are just the facts. I personally WILL NEVER take this pill again!!

hi guest 33365,
well done for being so supportive of your wife.
I had all of those symptoms plus more that your wife has had.
My husband eventually begged me to stop taking yasmin.
Maybe some women are not suited to taking any of the contraceptive pills.
Personally since i stopped taking artificial hormones i have felt so much better.
For me, yasmin was the pill with the most side effects.
My blurry eyesight disappeared after stopping the yasmin.
Look up naprotechnology.
It is a great and safe alternative.
Best of luck

It has been over two years that I have been taking Yasmin. I would say about 6 months after being on it I noticed that I was "moody" every month for either 1 or 2 weeks before I got my period. I have been with my boyfriend since I've been on it and I always took things out on him and became very angry at him or would cry my eyes out. I figured it was PMS. However, as each month went by things got worse. I started to get to the point where I never knew what kind of mood I was going to wake up in. I started questioning whether I had a chemical imbalance or not. Also, my vision is a little blurry and I'm always tired now. I don't cry anymore, but instead I "flip out" on people, especially my boyfriend. I am a teacher and work with kids and I've been yelling a lot too. I am going to go off it for good after reading the side effects from real people. Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa-Thank you so much for asking....
Here is my post-yasmin update.....
My pd started very light today and I had a very anxious night last night, hopefully related to PMS. I have been taking the xanax at night and paxil CR (12 mg) in the AM and I am seeing the doctor on Friday and will know about my BP monitor results then.
I am trying to avoid the xanax but the anxiety is pretty bad these days. This is my first cycle off of yasmin.
I took yasmin for 6 months, stopped for one month, and then again for three months. I think I really did some hormone damage to myself. I am off of caffeine, artificial sweetners (which I loved) and all alcohol (never took much anyway). I lost about 11 pounds this month since stopping yasmin. My face has alot less swelling and puffiness.
My vision is a little blurry.... any ideas????

I've been taking Yasmin for almost 3 months now. Within the first month I noticed tingling and numbness in my feet, legs, hands, and arms. I also had a physical done by my doctor and had a high heart rate. I've never had problems with my heart rate before. About a month ago I started feeling light-headed and dizzy at times. I've even had to pull over while driving. My vision seems blurry and I'm seeing black spots. None of these things ever happened to me until I started taking Yasmin. I called my doctor today and she told me to stop taking the pill today. Hopefully these symptoms will go away soon.

I have used Yasmin for two months. I just started to third package but I stopped after a few pills. I don't think I can take it anymore. After stopping the pills, I had a new period again with awful pains, just one week after my previous period . I suddenly gained around 10 pounds from nowhere. I have never been that big before. I always watch what I eat and work out regularly. I fell depressed, nothing makes me happy. I hate my life. I hate everything. Last week I couldn't have a sleep because of my stomach pains. My vision become so blurry. I feel so tired and exhausted all the time. The pill was great for my acne but who cares if I don't enjoy the life. I am just wondering how long it will take to loose these pounds. They are (whoever markets and prescribes these BCP) playing with the women's health. They don't ask any hormonal test before giving the prescription. If one BCP doesn't work, they give other. I don't get it. I am not using any BCP anymore. I should learn to love my acnes :)

Hi everyone,
Has anyone had eye allergies (itching, swelling, pain, blurry, and dry) and scratchy/itchy throat? My diet has not changed, or any detergents. Could this be it?
Help!!

I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year now, at first everything was great, aside from swollen breasts, I had no complications. Over the past 6 months, I have become increasingly moody, depressed and I feel angry all the time, stressed-out, overwhelmed...any little thing will set me off. I have gained some weight, but not a whole lot but I noticed my appetite has increased since starting Yasmin. I have headaches almost daily, my eyes are blurry at times and I have a hard time concentrating on things. I also have horrible leg cramps that happen in the middle of the night, usually when I stretch my legs out, I can literally feel the calf muscle tighten into a hard ball...and I have ti rub it to loosen it up, then my leg aches the rest of the day. The more I take this, the worse I feel. I feel good the few days during my period when Im not on active pills, but here I am 6 days into my active pills and Im turning into the "monster" again.....this pill has got to go...thanks for all who have written their side effects as well, I can now see its this pill and not my imagination.

I was on Yasmin for almost a yeat and experienced almost all of the side effects posted. I was extremely moody and tired and my sex drive decreased. I was constantly getting bruises on my legs, my vision was blurry, and my PMS was a nightmare. I switched to Alesse a month ago, based on a recommendation from this site and almost all the problems vanished. I feel a big burden lifted off of my shoulders and I am finally happy again!

I need some help. I have been on Yasmin for almost 4 years. Previously I was on ortho and was taken off of it due to an alarming weight gain and emotional side effects. Yasmin seemed GREAT until now... I am experiencing severe anxiety, shaking, headaches, blurred vision, hair loss, low sex drive and depression. I assumed this was all due to stress from graduating and entering the working world, but I have nothing to be upset or stressed about... I have such nervous thoughts and can sometimes say things that are just so unlike me.. I just don't feel myself. I am afraid to go off Yasmin and onto another pill in fear that things could get even worse... My previous experience with ortho was short but definitely not sweet. I am scared and afraid because I am only 22... Has anyone experienced anything like this that can give me some piece of mind?
