Dear flower babies.
i have only onepiece of advice GET OFF THIS POISON NOW before it kills you. i wsa going through everything you have said and more and it got worse and worse. I was on ysamin for 3 years only experiencing like you did after a while not straight away. I have been off yasmin now since nov 05 and its been a low haul and many times i just wanted to lay down and die and yet i came back to this site each and very day and got encouragement from those around here who had been there. Get off now and start regaining your life again. I would get on a good mulitvitamin immediately and some magnesium to help rebuild all htat has been deplete. Its not going to be easy but start now and in time you will be able to cope with your children again i know i have 3 and it was so hard in the beginning and now its getting better even though i still have those bad days but more good than bad.
cheer lisa

SILKE how are you i hope all is well i think about you often and hope you are getting better each and every day. Has your cycle resumed yet??/

Chrissy are u ok have not read any post from you for so long.

TWO GIRLS MOM... hows things i hope you are getting better each and every day. Hows the bp

UPDATE - 4 MONTHS POST YASMIN TODAY//////

Lisa here,

ok on yasmin i had all the side effects all of you listed, went to er 3 times thought i was having a heart attack, bad bad anxiety, severe depression.
went off yasmin first two months were HORRENDOUS...then on month 3 i posted on this website IS IT GONNA GET BETTER and silke replied it would ( man i had my doubts) I am a mum of three kids and i struggles each and every day and had to go on, thought i was going to die and every turn the fear factor was horrible.
Now 4 months on i feel like me again ( almost)BP has returned to normal after a long 4 month battle and i am coping so much better, the anxiety and heart racing just comes and goes now rather than all the time and i feel great. I have even began my own business something 4 months ago iwas asking could i even work.
to all the have stayed with me SILKE, CHRISSY I THANKYOU from the bottom of my heart. Its still a battle but i know i am going to get there but i could not have done this without you all.
To those just getting off yasmin youre gonna get there, i was so bad with the side effects i thought i was going to die and look at me now. DOnt get me wrong its not prefect but i feel like im living and 4months ago i felt like dying.
Stay strong and keep posting , we can all help each other

Hi, Twogirlsmom, Lisa, Silke, Chrissy and everyone out there it's Hill.
I am on day 34 post Yasmin. If you read some of my earlier posts, I too got a cold, felt horrible and got some of my symptoms back during the cold. I also had/have the bloating/swelling. I should get my period very soon. If I was still on Yasmin I should have gotten my period last thursday, however, when I stopped my pills, even though I had just menstrated, I got my period again about 4 days after stopping for a few days so it should be here soon.

As for the swelling, yesterday my ankles were the size of my thighs, as well as my hands. My fingers were huge, none of my rings fit. And while I was on Yasmin, my face was rather enlarged, around my cheeks. Right now everything is bloated. I am assuming it is due to almost that time of the month and first real cycle off pills.

Driving to work I almost had an anxiety attack, but I some how controled it. So what I'm assuming is it's just because my little ole friend is due, and he doesn't know how to act with out that horrible drug or something.

So keep sharing your experiences I know they helped me so much,
Hill

Silke, Chrissy and all
Thought i would give a little update. Month 5 things going ok, although this month on day 15 of cycle i have had bad palps and severe bloating but for the first time since going off yasmin i have got an appetite back and have not lost it while i have had my period. Still get symptoms but again not as bad a before and fears are getting less. Blood pressure was 140/90 last night when i had checked as i had chest infection and considering it was taken after no sleep for a day, i had been on the rush all day and felt tlike hell i guess it read ok just wondering how long it will take to hit the 80 point again, any feedback from high blood pressure would be good, eg how long it took and what your readings are, Im hoping its on the way down as last time i had it taken in a relaxed state it was 150/100 so fingers crossed that maybe its finally coming down, hope SILKE AND CHRISSY AND SHERRY are going well and TWO GIRLS MOM how are you???? Hows the blood pressure. Blurred vision is still there SILKE how long till yours evaded.

thanks for the read girls
take care

@twogirlsmum:

I'm very relieved to hear that you're not goin to take Mirena, because I really read of so many women suffering in a very similar way as we all do here from Yasmin...

<<<>>

Well, I had that feelings, too. Not in the tops of my arms, but in my feet and fingertips. Most of the time just ONE finger or one little point at my feet or such. Felt just like someone had dropped a little bit of warm water on it for a second... VEry strange feeling which always made me look at my finger or foot to reassure myself, that there isn't anything on it, that could have caused that warm feelings... Seems to be another nice Yasmin symptom...

Girls, better times are ahead. I'm so glad to see, that every day more and more women come around here and are finally able to put 2 and 2 together and get off that Yasmin poison as fast as possible!! well, not glad to hear, that most of you are going through the same or similar torture as many of us... But glad to see, that they all finally have a solution for their health problems and see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I really thank god for this and other sites in the www helping us that way where doctors don't seem to be able to do anything for us, but tell us, that it's all just us!!! Here they could find so much evidence of their mistakes...

Greetings to all of you out there, especially chrissy, lisa,
and every other woman here, that is finally guiding others here on their way after being very anxious about the future and not believing that there will be better times after Yasmin!! :) I think of you all every day and pray for you!!

Big hugs go out to everyone!!

Hi ladies. Chrissy, I wanted to see how you were feeling since we went off the pill about the same time. I'm definitely feeling better, however, I have been having constant attacks, which I think is anxiety. I've never really had it before so I'm not sure.
When you say you guys have anxiety, does it just come on for no reason? For me it's like I just start to get tingling, or numbing in my face and arm and leg, (sometimes stomach) and then it happens for about 15 minutes, I'm dizzy and off balance and quite foggy. I try to breathe slowly and it eventually goes away. It's definitely scaring me, especially when it happens while I'm driving. I just wanted to see if this is what you guys are considering anxiety. Since I've been off the pill, I've had this happen about 5 times. I have been taking an aspirin every morning just in case.

I'm feeling a lot less lethargic, and am able to actually not just sit around all day, I have a lot more energy which is good. But I still get dizzy spells and I'm weak every so often.

Also, how long do or did you guys have your period after you went off it? I was Ok for the first few days, but now I've had it about 5 days.

And I'm also wondering how long until I feel normal again? Like I said it's only been 8 days post Yasmin, but I am still freaking out that something else is wrong with me even though the doctors said I'm fine, since I'm not feeling back to normal yet!

Thanks everyone for your posts, they are really helping a lot.

Dear SILKE AND CHRISSY,

have you had any blood tests done since being off yasmin eg cholestrol etc , after a extended time especially you Silke as its been a year ( congrats on that).
Silke also you said you blood perssure is st8ill up a little do you measure that yoursef or by doctor and do you need to take any meds for that.
TWO GIRLS MOM, how are you, you can guess know that the pals and anxiety are period related and it will ease as your cycle goes on. My first two months were really realy hard but its getting better coming into my 4th month could never have made it without the girls here, also how did you go with the bp monitor ???

Big Hugs

Dear Chrissy,

im fine sweetie thanks for asking, had the really bad 6 days post period and then i hit energy plus i almost feel like the old me in that respect, im taking each day as it comes and like you have told me so many times there will be the good days more so as time goes on. I have started the agnus cactus but know this takes a while to get into the system but the flax seed oil capsules i believe have made a difference and i have lost 6 kilos also so i feel good about that. SILKE that ligt bulb switched on for me too and this past two weeks i have rediscovered my husband and he is rapt, i almost forgot what it was like to have those wantings again......
I so hope that this good feeling is going to last more and more and not slip as i get post period again or if it does that it might get less each month
thanks again for asking about m chrissy i have missed you too

Hill-

I had the same chest pains. Sometimes it felt like it was in my lungs, sometimes, it felt like it was my heart, and sometimes I couldn't tell where it was coming from it just hurt. Everyone kept telling me it was panic attacks. I'm sure I had a few of those too as I have had an amazing amount of anxiety since starting Yasmin, but I knew it was something more. I take a baby asprin everyday to make sure I don't get clots. I have had ekg's and chest x-rays and nobody has found anything. I have had major fatigue, dizzy spells(almost blacked out), stomach pains...the list goes on. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I will tell you that I have been off the pill for about 5 days now and I still have a lot of anxiety but some of the chest pain has gone away. I'm hoping it continues to get better and fast!

Chrissy-

I too had the heart race thing. Although my heart only got up to 120 bpm. At first it would just pound really hard and feel like it was going to jump out of my body. Then it would get faster and faster. When it seemed to subside the chest pain would come. It really freaked me out. I've been really afraid of blood clots. I had some weird sensations in my legs.

Guest-

I have had the worst hot flashes that have not gone away yet. One minute I'm cold the next minute I am so hot and I am stripping off sweatshirts and things trying to cool down. It's the worst! I did also gain weight, but not sure how much of it was the pill and how much was me not working out anymore because I have been so fatigued.

Hope this helps all! Five days off the pill and counting! :)

Thanks you Chrissy, I'm really hoping this is what has been causing me this aggravation. Regardless of what the dr.'s say or not. Like I said I just got this theory yesterday, but m first dr. said I needed a therapist. Nice Dr. huh!. I'm normally a perfectly happy healthy person. It's so weird that all of this would come on after 3 yrs., but I guess anything is possible. I'm still having the chest pains, but I'm hoping that they will dissipate with in time. It hasn't even been 24 hrs. yet. But I'd be curious to see if anyone else has had all or most of my symptoms. Especially the rapid weight gain.
Thanks for the advice.

to hill (the last posting)

you are not going crazy and ur not dying of a horrible disease!!! my names chrissy im 23 and i was on yasmin for only one month last july and i suffered some of what you have. i went to the ER twice in august because i had a racing heart beat like about 147 beats per minute, plus my chest felt soooooo tight and heavy !! my left arm was aching i swear i thought i was having a heart attack.
they check everything and told me nuthing was wrong but i just didnt feel right. i was constantly anxious which is not like me at all and always tired..... alos had bad migraines for two days at a time...
the good thing is the symptoms will wear off i promise you but ur right ur body needs a break...!!
im now 7 months yasmin free and i feel so much better.... ive started going to the gym again and iv found the energy i lost....i do sometimes get the symptoms when im ovulating or when my period is due but its nowhere near as bad as it was.....
you will be ok you just need time... and dont let anyone tell you that ur crazy because your not... only you can feel whats going on in ur body no one else...
this website is what saved me and the girls on here were so supportive !!!
<<<< LISA if your still around id love to know how your doing>>>>
so please read all the postings on here and stay off yasmin!!! you will be ur old self again its just gonna take time...

silke!! chrissy here...

i agree with you 100% about the symptoms being different for every1 and it cant be narrowed down to 3 months...

sure the first 3 months are the worst and were the hardest for me but here i am 6 months later and i still get palpitations sometimes... not as severe as they were but i can still notice it...
i was fine b4 yasmin and then all of a sudden it changed... thats how i know its this poison and not me!!
you sound like you have come such a long way since first getting off yasmin...
i hope i can be as strong as you and make it through the same way...
ur postings are an inspiration...

yes i still felt the way ur feeling after 3 months. october was my 3rd month off yasmin and also the month of my birthday.. wasnt too much fun i can tell you.... but i got through it thanks to this website.
to be honest i only started feeling 90% better after christmas....so really january has been my best month id say... and thats six months after i stopped yasmin....
but dont get me wrong its not perfect... i still had heart palpitations last week and i got a little bit shakey and anxious at one stage... but it was nuthing like it was the first few months....
you asked if i was working... i had two weeks off in august which i really needed cos at that stage i was bad but apart from that i had to work.... it was tough but i just kept at it and told myself i would be ok....
remember that it wont stay in ur body forever and im living proof of that....
you'll get there soon and i have a feeling that in a couple of months you'll be telling me how right i was... : )
if you have any more questions im always here to help you ok

Dear Chrissy,

where would i be without you...........
Its just that i feel so low at the moment, and with three kids its hard to get going but i do because i have to but i am feeling, hot, tired,, (exhausted actually) hearts racing and i just want it to be over, so this is month 3 for me and its bad still what happened with you at this point???I feel so edgy and just want to sleep ( hard with kids on holidays). Did you work whilst you were at this point because i have always been active, happy, super organised but i wonder if i can ever see the day that i could work again???
Sorry for being so pessimistic just feel like hell.

to lisa,

yes the first 3 months are the heardest.... trust me its gonna get better io can promise you...
sometimes i would think "oh yes im finially ok now" and then it was like it would start all over again.... its kinda like 3 steps forward 2 steps back...
you feel like ur getting nowhere but really you are.... even now i still get the symptoms and im not fully recovered but its nuthing like it used to be...
i guarantee you in 3 months time you will be feeling a million times better.... i know it sounds like ages away but you'll get there...

to Nina your very lucky you found the symptoms early... my heart used to pound in my chest aswell and its very frightening - smart idea throwing away the packet!

lisa please be positive ok.... its all gonna work out you'll see...
its just a cycle ... you'll get your good weeks and your bad days too but eventually the bad days will ease up and become more controllable...
please take care

lisa !!

whoever that doctor is that told you it only takes 1 month to get yasmin out of your system clearly has no idea!!!
i know that yasmin is still in my system because when i started it my period was a very bright red (sounds disgusting but true) and it still is at the moment. my periods before yasmin were never like that and thats how i can tell its still in my system....
so dont worry about that doctor and dont feel that the weight gain is all ur fault because it isnt !! oohhh that makes me so angry!!
with the racing heart question yes i definitly experienced it the same. i sometimes still get it now when im ovulating or the week of my period... its not as bad as it was but its still there for sure!
try not to feel so down i know its hard but just remember all these women have experienced the same thing so that doctor isnt really making sense...
i also read on another website that it can take 6 mnths to a year for bc hormones to leave ur system....
i promise you that it is all normal and your gonna get better 100%
stay postive if you can...

Dear Chrissy,

i felt great whilst away and did not have any bad symptoms but home now and just finishing my period and i feel bad I MEAN BAD again, reading ur post i see this is normal, yes i finished nov 9 on pill so guess it makes it my 3mth mark, IS IT GONNA GET BETTER EACH MONTH...I just took my daughter to docs as she was unwell and i have been feeling so tired and jumpy last two days and had blood pressure read and it is 150/11 still which is high but i guess it has not risen so which makes me think its a yasmin side effect. did not see my normal doc and the one i saw said there is no way yasmin is still in my system and i need to concentrate on losing weight ( i have kost 2kilos this month) and to exercise and not put blame onto something other than my self i just want to cry. If it is out of my system, then why the heck are all these women on this forum. He told me that the yasmin takes 1 month, i know i am not crazy.
so to answer ur question i was feeling great jan 7th to 25th and now i feel flat, tired , edgy again, each month do the severity of these symptoms get easier because i am feeling really low.

thanks for your support

dear lisa, its chrissy sorry iv taken a while to respond...

i just read ur posting about the hair loss and yes ive heard that it is a very common post yasmin side effect. i didnt experience it myself but i do get the depression the week that my period is finishing. its gotten better since i first stopped yasmin but its still noticeable.
have you been feeling any better apart from those symptoms?? just remember that ur nearly 3 months off yasmin and the first two months are the hardest.
im six months off it now and i feel so much better. you will get back to normal soon i promise... you just gotta hang in there...
you can take some natural vitamins to increase hair growth and it will only be the hair on ur head not anywhere else...
there is one i heard about i think its called Biotin??? something like that anyway and you can get it from like health food shops .....
it may help im not sure of any others though.

try to stay positive and i wish you the best results in whatever you decide to do.

Dear Chrissy,
heart palpitations have subsideddramatically and even though at ovulatoin time this month i had some they were SO MUCH BETTER than last month, have noticed that pulse has slowed at times so its not racing every minute of everyday as it wsa on yasmin and the past two months, is that how it went for you.... Took my pulse few times this week at its slowed a lot so thats encouraging and the blood pressure thing not too sure as i am going to be rechecked in a month as i was just stressing so much about that i thought give it another month and pay it by ear, another sign i guess that the anxiety is easing as a month ago i would have gone to hospital with worry, so when i think im not doing better i look at all the little steps like you said and then you realise its no where near as bad as the past month so heres to hoping its all on ths up for now.
I will be away from the 17th thill the 25th off to perth for a holiday wit my husband and children so i hope you stay well and i look forward to catching up on all the reading on the site when i get home.
big hugs
lisa

Dear Linzi,

Firstly throw away your pill packet, i too was just like you i went to the er three times thought i was having a heart attack and it was just full blown anxiety attack and the other lovely numbness side effects of this poison.
I too couold not work, thought i was going to die in the middle of the night, had constant death thoughts, could not cpe etc.
THERE IS HOPE, this week i am 10 weeks off this poison they call yasmin and i am feeling sooo much better. The anxiety is a lot better, the paranoia is all but gone and when ifirst was off yasmin i could not even walk past my letter box i was so fatigues and could never work out why. It took me weeks of just waslking slowly each day ( to help my anxiety) and then this past week i have managed a 5kilometer walk each day with my children (CHRISSY you would be s proud) and i am feeling like i am getting my life back. IT IS SLOW and that first two months if it were not for the girls here i dont think i could have done it, but think of it this way you stop the pill, and then you just let your body recover. If you continue taking this pill then its just another day, week month that you continue to let this hell control your body.
antidepressants are not the answer , try something natural, are you living in australia, if so i will give you some names of the things that i took, i understand you feel you need something but trust me give yourself a few months and you wont be 100% but you will be on the way to being you again.

Good Luck
Lisa
p.s all symtoms are worse at ovulation time and te week of your period remember that.

and thanks to all the girls that have constantly been there for me i could not have come this far ( and i have a way to go) without you all.......

to lisa and Manda... its chrissy here...

firstly lisa.... you asked about my breasts and if they went down after i stopped yasmin. Well when i got on it they increased a whole cup size within two weeks and when i stopped yasmin they decreased back to my normal size within 1 week! but they were so sore it was terrible...
also my heart rate kinda just eased up on its own. it wasnt a sudden change or anthing the pace just decreased gradually... like at the moment i can feel that its beating a bit faster but thats because im ovulating... but nuthing like what it used to be.... much easier to handle now.

to Manda... you asked what PCOS was... it stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, its a health problem that affects a woman's mentrual cycle, fertility, hormones, heart, blood vessels and i guess overall appearance. Girls that have this usual have high levels of male hormones or an irregular or no menstrual cycle and sometimes have small cysts on their ovaries. If your wondering about it more there is alot of information on the internet, just type in PCOS into google or something like that.

ok guys lotsa luck!

to the last two postings about the side effects.
i just want you to both know that everything ur feeling i have felt too!!
i was on yasmin for a month and had to stop taking it because it was making me anxious, giving me palpitations and i had chest pains and an ache in my left arm.
i went to hospital twice cos the palpitations and pains got so bad.. i thought i was having a heart attack!
im only 23!.. i did lose my libido for a couple of months and yes my breasts went up a whole bra size and they were so sore!!
its definitely yasmin that is causing both of you these problems. my doctor also told me to get my thyroid checked which i did and also had numerous blood tests which all came back fine.
ive now been off this pill for 5 months and i am feeling much better. i am just getting back my energy and finally the heart palps and anxiety is easing up..... it gets harder around the time i ovulate and the week of my period but its easier than the first two months.
i can not stress to you more to get off this pill!! its a nightmare...
lots of luck to you both

to the last posting....

i just wanted you to know that i suffered and am still suffering from heart palpitations too! i have been off yasmin for 5 months and for the first 2 months it was terrible i really couldnt cope. im only 23 years old and i felt like my life was falling apart... this website is wat saved me from going insane.

now i have noticed a pattern 5 months later and i realised i only get the palpitatinos when im ovulating and the week of my period.
i also get the migraines too and such sharp pains in my head... very strange... my head itself feels very foggy you could say at times..

also i used to feel extremely tired all the time but then at night i could hardly sleep... i lost my apetite for a while and my sex drive aswell but this came back after a couple of months....
i really noticed a lot of improvement around 4 months coming off yasmin...

thanks for your posting i know a lot of girls and myself will really appreciate it...
lots of luck to you for a full recovery.

Chrissy - You are absolutely an adorable charm! Right now I'm in bed, as I've been all day, my 'watermelon' is too heavy to lift so I've propped my laptop up. I'm glad, unfortuantely, to know that there are other people that have been here and are still alive! I ate a small bowl of oatmeal to keep my stomach from eating itself but I have no desire to even cook for my family.

So many are on Yasmin for birth control but I'm on it because of the cysts so I don't know if I can stop, yet, or if there is an alternative. I've considered a holistic center just to get my body off of any foreign substance but I'm afraid of the cysts growing. My doctor is on my poo list because I have to wait until 30 January to talk to her. I have two more packs to go through, but remember that I don't do the white pill week, I keep doing the yellow so that means I have about seven weeks left.

This is just insane. Here I thought I was getting sicker from the cysts growing and my estrogen increasing, but I'm experiencing illness from the meds that are supposed to be CURING me. Ouch. The first week or two of the Yasmin I felt disgusting but not at ALL like I do today. If it gets progressively worse I'm definitely going to take my ovaries out and mail them to the company that makes Yasmin.

Ewe. That's gross, but not as gross as how I feel right now.

Thanks for listening - AMEN for this board!

XO
Kelli

to the last posting.. im not sure of your name...
im chrissy.... im 23 and some of the things you wrote sounded very familiar to me especially this paragraph..

<<<<>>>>>>

i can tell you this month i was convinced i had a tumour... seriously i had such sharp pains in my head and it felt like it was as heavy as a watermelon... all i wanted to do was curl up in bed and pray i wouldnt die.
not to mention my eyes, i couldnt move them from left to right without getting dizzy and it hurt so much.
believe me these are yasmin symptoms... and the loss of apetite, that got me too!! i love food and for my height my weight is pretty good.. i weigh 52 kilograms i think in america u say 104 pounds???
but sometimes the though of food makes me feel so sick.. or if i eat like two bites im full... its weird but i promise it deos go away... i am 5 months off yasmin and im starting to really feel alot better....
u will too but you have to get off this pill... its poison!!
its a slow process but all the girls on this site are great to talk to and this site is wat saved my life...

hugs to you

i did read a while ago on this website that a few girls had blurred vision... mine wasnt blurred but my eyes were so sore it hurt just to move them from left to right...

My sun has suffered from three years of age with stomach pain and discomfort uppon eating he is now 12 years old. We have seen many doctors all of whom are very vague. I live with him and see him every day. He eats very little, (i think it still hurts) he says he's not in pain anymore. At nine he was still thr...

January 2007 I had an epidural steroid injection with Kenalog go completely wrong. The doctor placed the needle in too far and punctured the dura. That headache changed in to chronic daily headaches that are very severe. I developed burning stabbing leg and foot pain, . I have bladder dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, and numbness througho...
