i was on Yasmin for 3 years - thankfully the worst side effects i had were low sex drive and dryness. i did have a couple scares where i thought i had a clot, but i got it checked out an it was nothing. i got off the pill a month ago. i feel fine. i've been a bit moody and i cry a lot over nothing, but i attribute that to my body readjusting. i haven't had a period yet. i'm a bit nervous about that. i do feel i've gained a small bit of weight.
for all of you who are reading this - there ARE alternatives that are safe and easy. i just bought a fertility computer called LadyComp. it's expensive, but when you think about the side effects it is saving as well as the monthly expenses for the pill, it will eventually save you a lot of money as well as your health. it's not sold in the states (cuz pharmeceuticals rule the country and won't allow something like this) but you can buy online from England or Canada. it's just as effective as the pill and SO much safer for you!!!!

Hi to all Yasmin victims. I have been off Yasmin for 2 months now and still experiencing anxiety in the mornings and depression. Silke, flower babies, whoever is there to help me believe this suffering will come to an end. I lost the joy in life, and cannot function as i used to. Please please write to me girls, i really need support. I am 26 and living on my own in another city. I had to move next to them for 1.5 months in order to survive. I lost so much weight, my thyroid started to work fast (it is under control now). I have a beautiful and loving boyfriend, and he is suffering with me too, our relationship is damaged a lot because of my severely depressed mood. I need to talk to people who are getting better. I am on antidepressants because I was soooo depressed and with no appetite. I feel much better compared to the previous month, I am trying my best to stay strong but sometimes loose my hope. I really need you guys, I really need your supporting words.

hi, please can someone help me :-(
I'm 17 and this is my first time on any pill, I was on mefenamic acid to deal with painful periods but had to stop after I used them incorrectly.
I started Yasmin 6 days ago, and since my period stopped I have had constant pain in the left side of my back, headaches, am very tired and constantly feel like I'm about to be sick.
Is this normal? My parents don't seem to understand how much it's affecting me and I can't keep missing school.

I am 18 years old and ive been taking Yasmin for about 2 years, and tonight i came across all of these stories of bad experiences.
after putting together the pieces, ive realized that im not crazy after all! i have had every symptom out there for this pill except high blood pressure and nausea.
i used to be 135 pounds before i got on this pill, and now i am 160 pounds.
i find myself crying all the time, im surprised my boyfriend can put up with it.
i have no energy, all i want to do is sleep. i get sharp pains behind my eyes that cause me to shift them to find a spot where it wont hurt. i have no sex drive at all. i constantly feel depressed and sometimes don't want to live. im so tired of feeling this way.
the only good thing that happened for me was that my skin had cleared up tremendously!
and now i want to just stop and quit this pill right now! im just afraid my acne will come back.
this pill should not be given to women, all of these stories show great reasons on why its harmful.
PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS PILL!! ITS NOT WORTH IT.
im glad i found all this out before it was too late.
my boyfriend wants me to finish the rest of my pill pack but i just want to stop right now.
i don't know what to do.
if i continue taking this pill for the rest of the pack i will feel worse about it each day knowing its harming my body and life.
help.

Hi I have just tried to go back onto Yasmin and feel absolutely terrible, I feel very down, moody, nausea, and a lot of gas pain especially in rib area. Going to go back to the Doctors today.
The reason I started Yas was to improve my skin and regulate my periods I so have PCOS. I had previously been on Yasmin before and had no problems. I don't know if they have changed the ingredients?
I hope the Doctor doesn't think I am mad!!

I had been taking this pill for a month and a half, i'm 23 and my gp said it would be good for mood swings etc, in the first month i was constantly tearful with headaches, i felt better on my week break and then when i started back on it i got a rash covering my legs and the itching was unbearable, i also got pins and needles in my head and face, i stopped taking Yasmin at this point and the rash went straight away along with the pins and needles/anxiety,im sure it was because of the pill.

Wow you are all a bunch of complainers who try and blame XYZ on Yasmin which probably have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the pills. I have bee diagnosed with PCOS and have been on hormone therapy since age 15, first zovia, which worked well enough but did not get rid of a lot of my symptoms, only lessened them somewhat, so now I am on yaz. My depression has completely subsided, I feel GREAT and only had some nausea which almost EVERYONE gets when taking a hormone therapy birth control pill. Trust me, if you are going to have SIDE EFFECTS it is not going to happen 4 YEARS LATER, please.... grow up and take responsibility for yourselves, rather than trying to blame a pill

Yaz has completely destroyed my health. Before I started taking Yaz I had a blood test done and my doctor told me I was the healthiest patient he had. However about 10 months after I started taking Yaz I began having nausea, right shoulder pain and became very gassy. I went to the doctor and they told me I had gallstones which is a side affect of birth control. I took another blood test and had high triglycerides and high cholesterol levels. I did not have any of this until after I pill. I eat very healthy and am only 23 yrs old. Things have only gotten worse because now I have heart palpitations and low blood pressure (another side effect) that became so severe it sent me to the E.R. I feel like my heart is going to explode daily. I DO NOT recommend Yaz to anyone.

I'm 21 and have been on Yasmin for 3 and a half months for bad acne. I was originally on Dianette but experience such severe side effects I honestly thought I'd be hospitalized, so I asked my doctor for Yasmin. All was fine for the first 2 months, but I'm now getting horrible pain in my right leg which won't go away no matter what, coupled with a pins and needles type feeling in my feet. I'm also developing spider veins on my legs, It's got to the point where I'm scared to look at my legs now in case any more have shown up! I've decided I'll come off it in a month or so, but don't know what to do to keep my acne at bay. Does anyone know of any natural remedies? I don't wanna keep messing around with drugs and hormones in case I cause long term damage!
Also, has anyone else gone to their doctor about these side effects, only to find the doctor says 'its nothing to do with the pill' when clearly it is! I saw 3 different doctors about my dianette problems, none of them believed it was down to the pill, but when I stopped taking it, my problems disappeared :/

I took Yasmin for 3 years and stopped about 3 weeks ago in hopes of becoming pregnant soon. I am experiencing a rapid resting heart rate (100) and occasional mild chest pains. My blood pressure, however, is normal. I have also had a pain in my lower right abdomen below my hip bone off-and-on for a week. The first day it was sharp and lasted about 20 minutes and I thought it was ovulatory pain (and I guess it still could be). When it lingered, I thought it was my appendix, and now I'm a little confused as to what it is. It is mild and only happens for a few minutes a day. I'm just wondering if these things are all linked to the timing of stopping Yasmin. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms? I'm becoming paranoid about my health.

I have been taking BCP since I was 18. I started w/ Aleese, Yasmin, Orthotrycyclin-Lo, Ortho Evra and the last being Loestrin24Fe. The sad part is that I can't remember what/if any side effects I had while taking those prior to Loestrin24Fe. Unfortunately for me, I have managed to gain 30lbs in the last 5yrs and I cannot seem to get rid of it. Of course the gyno said it wouldn't have been the BCP, but I would like to believe I didn't make myself a fat ass. I was taking Loestrin24Fe for 2 years and can't say I noticed too big of a change while taking it other than the periods being shorter, but they were still very heavy. But my acne has started to get worse the past year. In May I went to the doctor for my migraine's and skin/hair (too oily). After running blood tests it showed my thyroid was pretty low and had room for improvement. I was prescribed Maxalt for my migraine's and 30mg of Armour (thyroid medicine). I went back at the end of June and we upped the Armour to 60mg because I haven't noticed a difference since taking it. She also suggested I switch my BCP to Yasmin as it's been known to help with acne problems. Today was my 2nd day on Yasmin....and obviously it's too soon to notice if/what side effects will bother me. I just wonder if maybe I should take a break from BCP all together and allow my body a chance to breathe. I really hate the thought of having that longer period again but I'm going to have it with Yasmin anyway unless I choose to start a new pack early every month (to keep same schedule as Loestrin24Fe). Advice would be helpful :)

Hello: I am so sorry that all of us are suffering since taking this pill. My experience with Yasmin was brutal and 3 years later I know am told that I have developed b12 deficiency or a very serious, but treatable condition called pernicious anemia. I never had it before then pill. I took Yasmin for only 5 months and felt sick the whole time. Headaches, strange moods, even a popping sound in my head some times, bizarre symptoms. I called my OBGYN and told he I was stopping. She said the pill did not cause this, but if I felt it was related to stop. AND IT WAS! She now admits to feeling bad for this. She did not mean it. Doctors only know what they read from the literature of a drug. I stopped taking it and was in the hospital within three days. I was in shock. Night sweats, tingling skin, no energy, stomach problems of every kind. Severe pain in my left ovary, suicidal depression and on and on. The worst part is that I began to get sicker and sicker. 3 years later of still being sick. The only thing that has helped my system is acupuncture and a serious diet change to aid my system, I find out that I have a serious b12 deficiency, which I never had. They call it an autoimmune disease which impedes you from processing b12 and all this starts in the tummy! I lost a baby during this time while pregnant, now we know it was this! The Yasmin pill has been pulled off the social medicine of some European countries due to such severe side effects. Their is a girl on this blog getting names together to start a class action suit. I am in. No one can get me my three years of suffering back, or my lost baby or my lost work. I am a professional flamenco dancer and let me tell you it is not easy to perform with a serious b12 deficiency which affects nerve endings, heart tissue and neurology! And the cure for this is b12 injections for life! If you want me to forward your name to the girl with the attorney you can write me at:****** Well I am going to keep trying to be well. I am young and have a whole life ahead of me.

It is so funny to read all of the negativity but nothing positive! I came here looking for side effects and get a bashing about how horrid Yasmin/Yaz is! Let me first start off by listing my side effects that I wanted to know about:
breast tenderness
change in appetite
tiredness
red spot in eye
Next, let me tell you that I researched BEFORE taking this medicine because 1. I have MS 2. I suffer from migraines and seizures and 3. I take a whole boat load of medications! My doc recommended Yasmin for PMDD coupled with Sarafem to help my mood right before and during my time of the month. I must say that I have only been on it for about 10 days so I do not know anything of how it works with my period.
I am APPALLED at the fact that there are few, if any, positive comments about this pill! I know for a FACT that it works because I know 7 people personally that are on it that have NO PROBLEMS! So, I ask you all that have negative comments, what is wrong with you, other than you HATE the pill? What OTHER meds were you on while taking it? I read a few comments about stopping for a month and then starting again and then wondering why they felt like crap?? Well HELLO?! You are effing with your body's hormones! And there is a difference between Yaz and Yasmin hormones. If you had a bad experience with Yaz, make sure you are not confusing it with Yasmin! Yaz is a 24 day hormone pill where Yasmin is only 21 days.
I am not a doctor, but like I said, I have done my research. I have suffered with adult acne and PMDD for years. It sucks. If Yasmin helps, I want to know. I don't want to read a bunch of bull about people who mess up their cycles by taking the pill and smoking or taking the pill with meds they shouldn't be taking them with. I know what I can and cannot take. Most of what I take is natural and what is not, well, it CAN be taken with Yasmin. Like the website for Yasmin says and like most of the informational, non-biased websites say, Yasmin and Yaz is not for everyone. Some people cannot handle this type of hormone.
I can guarantee you that some doctor or pharm company can tell you that whatever symptom you are having is from something completely unrelated to the BC you are taking. Warnings are clearly marked...read them and obey!

Hello! I'm 27 and I've been taking Yasmin for probably 7 years and never had a single problem. My weight stayed the same, my periods got VERY regular, to the DAY, and things were ok.
Starting about 3 months ago I was on my honeymoon and decided to skip my period that month which I do a few times a year and Yasmin never let me down! Anyways my period came anyways and not only that, but I spotted an extra week after! It was most noticable in the mornings after having sex. It was just brown and yucky. Then I didn't have a period the next month, only 24 hours of brown and this month I had a regular one. On top of that I've suddenly gained 5 pounds without changing ANYTHING. I wonder, can Yasmin suddenly screw me up so many years after I started taking it? I hear horror stories about Yasmin but I only see it from women taking it for a few months or maybe a year? It was always so good to me. What's going on? The weight gain terrifies me too because I so easily gain weight and I've been trying so hard to eat well and I feel like it's been pointless. It ticks me off more because I have to pay $50 a month for Yasmin even AFTER insurance pays 15, and now I think it's messing my body up too.
I have a OBGYN appointment in a few weeks and I'm going to talk to her about it and see about getting on a new pill anyways for price reasons, but do you think all these weird sudden symptoms are from Yasmin? Can you recommend a pill? I can't afford to gain anymore weight. I just can't...

I only wish I had found this site sooner.
I hope that as you read what these women have written here, you take it seriously.

I am on my 2nd day off Yasmin. 9th if you consider the white pills. I have been taking this pill (no pills prior) for about 6 years. August 2006, I started having headaches and other symptoms. Been seeing many, many doctors ever since. None of them can see a problem, although now I can. I can say without a doubt I am not the same person I was 6 years ago. I have been blogging on ****** about my various health problems and seeing all of the doctors. I don't know that I can post links on here, so I would have to say if you searched for the user name ashallaya, you would find me. At this moment, I am terrified that some harm will come from suddenly stopping. Does anyone know what signs to look out for when stopping? And what kind of doctor do you see about this?

Just reporting back with some information.
I've been off of Yasmin for over a month now. Overall I've been better but there have been a few "relapses" where I've become so dizzy/lightheaded that I hard-core started to panic. Those days can be disheartening.
I've read some previous posts from an RN who said that Yasmin in particular, suppresses your androgens (testosterone) which causes many of these symptoms. This also explains why sometimes it takes a while for these symptoms to "catch up" I know I was feeling great when I first started.
I'm a lot better now that I stopped Yasmin, but I know it's going to take up to six months to get back to normal. Have your doctor check your hormone level. Even if it's " low normal" that isn't healthy for say, a 20, or 30 year old.
For herbal supplements I would suggest Ashwagandha. It's supposed to help production of your androgens. Also keep hydrated and have plenty of Omega-3 fatty acids.
What I also encourage is to talk about your situation. Once you open up, you'll never know who you'll find that had the same issue. We women can be a very helpful resource for one another.
I'll keep you posted on the progress and I hope the best for all of you.

I am so happy to have found this site.... I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year. I had read side effects prior to taking it but had to be put on it due to the fact that all my life I have had an irregular period cycle. I figured that everyone was different so I started taking it. I did fine up until a few months ago. I started experiencing nausea and terrible chest & abdominal pain. They found out I had a bacterial infection so related it to that. But after that was cleared up I still had the problems... went to the ER who ran tons of tests... catscan, EKG, x-rays, blood work.. the whole thing, and everything came back 'normal'. Then I started experiencing anxiety and panic attacks... seemed like they always were in the evening making it very hard for me to fall asleep. I felt nervous all the time. Then I found this site and so many here have experienced everything I have. I immediately stopped taking yasmin and went into see my obgyn. Right now I am not taking anything until I get back to feeling like me again... I hear it takes a while for the pill to completely leave your system, does anyone know how long? I am starting to feel a little better, but still experiencing the same problems... just not as strong. The heart palps and chest pain, which makes me feel like I can't breath, scare me the most...

I have been on Yasmin for about four and a half years now. I just stopped taking it because my husband and I want to start having children. I have noticed some horrible side effects. I am SEVERELY bloated, irritated at everything, and even more depressed. I also have headaches all the time. My mind races and I can't control my thoughts. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so glad I found this site. I was really getting down on myself over the past few years because of my depression and anxiety. I even had to go on medication. I have never been like this before so I was so confused as to what was going on. Now I see that it may have been linked to Yasmin. My doctor always asked me how I was doing on it and I never made the correlation between Yasmin and my downward spiral of health. About four months ago I started to get migraines about everyday. I went to the doctor and they did an MRI on my brain. They found lumps in my brain. Not cancer but just lumps. They just come and go. And when they come I can tell because of the debilitating migraines. I wonder if someone else has had this? I don't know if there is a connection but I am not ever going to take Yasmin again in fear of the cause. My doctor said that BC can be linked to migraines. Thank you for making me feel that I am not alone. I should make my husband read the comments on this site so he can see it isn't all my fault that I get moody!!!

I had taken yasmin for a month and noticed severe side affects- nausea, panic attacks, dizzyness, fainting and i went to the ER to get tests done. they all came back normal. Even after I stopped taking the pill I still felt sick for a long time. The pill brought down my immune system causing me to now have Infectious Mononucleosis (Mono). I've had that for two weeks already and because of my low immune system I have also gotten Pneumonia. I was perfectly fine before I started the pill but ever since then my health has gone down hill. I am going to try another different pill again in December but I don't think I'm going with any similar ingredents...

Hello,
I read about how YAZ birth control pill affects the body and psych and I am now scared. This is my 2nd day of YAZ (I've never been on birth control pills ever and I am 27 years old), it's all new to me but after reading all these negative posts about Yaz I don't know what to do. Before the birth control pills, I was depressed, annoying, serious weight problems - 210 lbs :~~((, low energy, low libido, always tired, terrible migraines every 2nd day, ridiculously increased appetite and excessive hunger, hair where it shouldn't be, menstrual blood clots, excessive cramping etc
I have all these problems for 3 years now and now that the family doc. put me on YAZ birth control pill I am even more scared - mainly of more weight gain, it would be a tragedy for me, I am fat enough already and what's worse I can't lose the weight, exercise doesn't help, diet doesn't help, NOTHING. Will YAZ birth control pill worsen my already tragic condition? I just don't know what to do and what to believe ... I appreciate any advice or help you can give me ... Thank You to all!

I'm so glad I googled side effects of Yasmin and found this site. All of the sudden my mood swings for the past almost YEAR make sense. I started out fine. The pill was great, and I haven't had to worry about acne at all. Of course I gained a few pounds, but not too much. However, I'm a pre medical student trying to study for the MCAT this summer. I've been SO tired and drained and majorly depressed that I just can't seem to concentrate. I feel like I'm always crying over the stupidest stuff (AKA: no reason at ALL), and my grades are starting to suffer. Hopefully now that I've read this, I can stop taking this pill and see an improvement. It's just not worth the depression. I'm 22 right now, and until recently had never had a suicidal thought. I was starting to panic, because I couldn't identify the cause of my depression. I'm a good student, have lots of friends, and have the most amazing boyfriend and family. Life is good, I shouldn't feel this bad. Now that I have a clue as to what this may be, I can fix it.

Where do I begin??? I have been taking Yaz for six months. Migraines! The worst migraines ever, I cannot function for one full day and sometimes more, the pain was so intolerable.
Hives! For the past two months, I keep thinking that I had a food allergy; even my doctor diagnosed it as that. After going to the allergist, I was told that I have developed an allergy to the Yasmin pill. No part of my body has been discriminated with this medication. Hives from the top of my head, in my eyes, right down to the bottom of my feet! This has been the worst experience of my life with this pill.
Fatigue to the extreme! I fall asleep sitting up and never feel rested. Yaz has caused me to go up two cup sizes so far, I went from being a 38C to a 40DD and I can't fit into anything. My boobs are sore a lot.
Weight gain, at least 20 pounds heavier. Nausea; Indigestion; Diarrhea & Constipation; Decreased Sex Drive; and Mood swings; Uncontrollable Rages; Severe body aches; Hot Flashes/Chills; Crying Spells; Blurred Vision; Lack of Concentration; Trouble sleeping; Dizziness; Shaking; Restlessness mainly after 9pm when I should be winding down to go to bed; Terrible night sweats; Never ending cravings for junk food; Inability to cope with stressful situations; Feeling of being inadequate; Can’t concentrate; Gassy; Hate family & partners; Irrational.

Dear leeleeroz,
the same thing happened to me... After getting off Yasmin I got the normal "breakthrough-bleeding", which is NO normal period!! And after that: NOTHING! I had to wait a very long time but my period came back after 1,5 years, without doing anything (well, my weight went down which perhaps might have helped also...)!!
I didn't want to put other chemicals in my body after my nightmare experience with Yasmin and I felt, that my body needed time to balance everything out by itself so I just waited.
So please try not to worry too much and try to be patient. It's pretty normal, that your body might need some time after stopping bcp to find its own rhythm and balance again, even if you didn't have any problems with Yasmin (I heard and read from many women, who didn't get their period for a few months after stopping a bcp, but for everyone it came back one day!)!!
And if you have the time (I mean, if you don't want to have children immediately), please take it and give your body the time it needs to recover from those chemicals!!
I find it not very helpful, that your doc had given you another hormone to get your period back, without waiting at least about 6 months or so; that's the time your body definitely needs to clear from the bcp hormones (some say 3 months, some say even 12 months.... I think this is different for everyone).
I wish you all the best and that you will make the right decision for you and your health!! And I'm very sure, that one day you'll tell us all here in the forum, that your pregnant!! :)

hi guest 39725.
you poor thing,it sounds like you have had a terrible years, i would certainly question whether or not yaz is right for you,it has not been proven to be any more effective than any other bcp on the market so if you have any doubts about it i would say swap.there are too many "ingredients" in this pill that mess with you both physically and mentally and it sounds like you have already suffered enough at the hands of your hormones to have yet another pill wreck your life. i have set up another website for women to chat to each other about their problems from using yasmin or yaz, unfortunaltely the promoters of this site have asked me not to post the link anymore, you may still find it either here or on the "forum page.it is called yasmin survivors. it would be lovely to hear from you and also it has been a great source of help and comfort for many women, you can talk about your hormones, your health, your life or or anything you like,it just helps to chat to other women who know what you are feeling and what you are going through, just knowing you are not alone can make a big difference to your life.
******
best wishes.

yes, while on yasmin I noticed my ears would feel like they would "pop" immedidately after taking the pill in the morning originally-as though you were talking in a bubble. But what was really happening was like what happens when you are descending in an airplane....I've been off for two months but still have pressure in both ears and I too can hear my heart beating in my ears-that I think is normal though unless you may have a more congestion than I have. I have also had colds now for two months since going off of the Yasmin! I am planning on going back to the RN this Wednesday to re-address and ensure that I don't have a greater risk-of health.

Update - I am now 9 months post Yasmin. My periods come every 34-36 days apart. Although most of my terrible symptoms have subsided, I still struggle with a form of anxiety - an anxiety about my health. I feel like with every little ache or pain, I begin to worry that something is seriously wrong with me. I was never like this before Yasmin. I feel like this is consuming me and I have to do something about it. PLEASE - Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems to be worse about 1 week after my period.

Andegags, Time is probably the only thing that is going to help. I take the Effexor to help with the shakes, but I should be off of it soon.
I am no longer on any BCPs. I cannot take artifical hormones after all that I have been through.
You are very young and I hope that you get better soon. Stay off the BCP's (especially Yasmin) and do not compromise your health or future fertility. Speak with your OB/Gyn and if you don't get the answers that you need on how to stop the shakes, speak with your internal medicine doc/general practitioner. You should not have to suffer like this, especially at your young age. Good luck in your last year of college. Enjoy your time with your friends, it flies by :-)

I am 42 yrs old and my Dr. prescibed Yasmin to regulate my period and to help me with my headaches. It was one of the worst medicines I've ever taken. It gave me a sick stomach, blurry vision, dry skin, mental fog and chronic headaches. I decide to attack my perimenopausal symptoms naturally and I'm now taking black cohosh. I feel much better. I wish everyone well and encourage people to do their own research and to take the initiative when it comes to their health.

After two weeks off finishing Yasmin, I had all symtons of a heart attack, very fightening. Had ECG, stress tests, blood tests and all normal. Had several severe anxiety attacks since and on going heart pain, pain in left arm, generally feeling awful. I am so glad I found this site, I live in France. I don't know anyone else here to talk to about this, its now six weeks for me not taking this terrible Pill. I really hope my health returns to normal soon.

Hi there to anyone who may be listening...I am new this site and was just looking for some info. I have been on Yasmin since September (in my 3rd pack so far) and I have experienced some strange things....For one, I have chest pains on my left side only. Sort of around the breast area. Not sharp and it doesn't hurt when I breathe, but I do notice it. And I have also become very anxious...I was a little nrevous before, but now I am almost obsessive about things. Mainly my health. I can drive myself crazy thinking something is wrong with me. Not depressed or anything, just worry a lot.
Any one know what I mean? I did read a few people that experienced chest pains, but wasn't sure if it was part of the Yasmin.
Thanks all!

I had only been taking this nightmare pill for 5 days before my worried boyfriend found this website, just 5 days and I was suffering from nausea, insomnia, depression and lack of confidence/low self esteem. Thank god I stopped taking it! Just 4 days later and I feel completely different - back to my happy old self again. My nurse advised me to see a GP for anti depressants!!! In the 21st century, women should not have to play Russian Roulette with our lives and our health for something so simple as a birth control pill.

I have used Yasmin for two months. I just started to third package but I stopped after a few pills. I don't think I can take it anymore. After stopping the pills, I had a new period again with awful pains, just one week after my previous period . I suddenly gained around 10 pounds from nowhere. I have never been that big before. I always watch what I eat and work out regularly. I fell depressed, nothing makes me happy. I hate my life. I hate everything. Last week I couldn't have a sleep because of my stomach pains. My vision become so blurry. I feel so tired and exhausted all the time. The pill was great for my acne but who cares if I don't enjoy the life. I am just wondering how long it will take to loose these pounds. They are (whoever markets and prescribes these BCP) playing with the women's health. They don't ask any hormonal test before giving the prescription. If one BCP doesn't work, they give other. I don't get it. I am not using any BCP anymore. I should learn to love my acnes :)

I am 26 and finishing up my second month of Yasmin. I have never been on BC before and no other daily medication in all my life. And up until now I have been in fine health.
I thought I might be suffering from some ailment but after reading these posts I know now that I can attribute my symptoms to Yasmin.
I am highly sensative emotionally (never was before), crying over spilled milk and the like.
I can barely eat because I get nauseas so quickly and then I have to make a dash for the bathroom due to severe stomach cramping followed by diarrhea.
I've vomited twice in the last 2 weeks (once at work!) and that breaks my 5 year sans vomit record.
I have lost weight and am fatigued constantly.
I will be sure to inform my OB/GYN about every side effect. I hope this information was helpful. I am truly grateful I found this board.

I experienced a stroke after being on this pill for only three months. I have no doubt in my mind, nor do my doctors, that Yasmin was the cause of the stroke. I had experienced 15 lbs weight gain, fatigue, and headaches prior to the stroke. If you are over 35 or if you have ever had migraines, don't take this medication! And if you begin having severe headaches while on Yasmin, don't wait for them to go away or give yourself time to "adjust" to the medication. You are gambling with your health.
Please share any similar stories with me at geanos@hotmail.com. Put "Yasmin" in the subject line.

I have been on Yasmin for about 5 years. I have never had an issue. I am worried that everyone on this site is making Yasmin look bad. You all need to remember that not everything will work for every person, everyones hormones are different to begin with so when you add the pill to these different levels of hormones you will get different side effects. To the people with low sex drive, did you perhaps think that this could be due to depression or the aging process? Many women suffer from low sex drive, those on and off the pill. Your sex drive will not be consistent throughout life, mine dropped in my early 20s and now is rising again, it may drop again, it can also be due to stress. All that said if you're suffering side effects that you think are attributed to Yasmin, or any other pill, stop taking it! Not everyone's body will handle it.
