I was on Yasmin for a long time- maybe a year or more. That was about 3 yrs ago - I've been off it for at least a year.
Here's my question: how long will these symptoms persist after I go off the pill? I'm not sure why I have my symptoms, but maybe this pill started it. I am constantly in muscle pain, high fatigue, swollen, painful feet daily, ache/painful shoulders, back, hips, but and legs. I am not myself and haven't been in years. Maybe this drug started it.?? Your opinions based on your experience?

hi charity.
I think that this site is as good as any in demonstrating the side affects of yasmin.
But you should not wait for your doctor to confirm or dispute that your problems are due to yasmin. Most doctors do not agree that yasmin can cause this. But you and how you feel while you are on it are the proof.
Perhaps your hormone balance was different before you had your daughter. That is why yasmin suited you.
Weight gain was definitely one problem i had with yasmin. As sson as i stopped taking it the weight went. All the weight i put on was around my waist and hips. I also had cellulite which i never had before and which is now gone.
Sex drive was non existent while i was on yasmin. I was like a zombie.
And of course as you can see from all the other posts here anxiety is the major side effect all of us experienced.
So waiting for your doctor to tell you what to do is no good.
You must decide yourself according to how you feel.
I suppose our hormone levels change from time to time and what suited us 2 years ago may not suit us any longer.
I personally am using naprotechnology for contraception. This is a completely natural form of family planning. You learn to know the time you are ovulating and either avoid sex at that time or use condoms.
I trust it completely now and wish i had found out about it years ago.
Whatever you decide i wish you well. We have all been where you are now.
Best of luck

I'm not too sure. But I recently read on a UK medical website, that "the PILL" can cause stretchmarks perhaps because of a skin pigment and dry skin combination.I have reently lost about 10 lbs. and have noticed some stretch marks on my hips and inner thighs, is this possible because of Yasmin , are stretch marks among the side effects. If so then is there a pill that won't cause this nasty side effect?

Hi Ladies,
I'm on day 17 of my first pack of Yasmin. Thank God my doc gave me 3 months worth of samples because I don't think I want to buy this pill. Anyways, I've been having symptoms similar to most everyone else on here. I get a lot of cramping, back pain, feels like my hips are going out on me, not able to eat, constantly thirsty, extremely dry skin, etc, etc. I started taking my pills before bed. After spending a week and a half with these symptoms, I changed the time of day that I took the pills to the morning. Made me feel worse taking the pills in the morning rather than before bed. Went back to taking them before bed and I'm back to "normal". By "normal" I mean taking Yasmin. I called my OB's office and was advised that they do not want to take me off this pill until I've been on it for 3 months to see if it will help my condition. I have not had a normal cycle ever in my life, and I got pregnant while on the pill all 3 times. I had an ultrasound done last month, and was told that when I have my period, the lining of my uterus is not leaving. I was told that my lining is 17-18 cm in diameter when it should only be 4-15 cm in diameter. My doctor wants to see if this will help me shed the lining of my uterus and have a normal cycle. Needless to say, I have noticed a few "good" benefits from Yamsin, I can't eat as much, therefore I'm losing weight and the hair that I've lost from my last 2 pregnancies is starting to grow back. Ladies, if any of you are Yasmin for the same reasons as I am, let me know if this has helped or worsened your condition. I would be grateful for any advise you may have.
Thanks,
Georgette

I've joined the club! I had my nurse practitioner give me something for insomnia, hinking it was anxiety from school. As exhausted as I am, I still couldn't seem to fall asleep. As a matter of fact, I wish I weren't awake typing this message in the middle of the night right now. I've wanted to cry over something almost every day for the last week. Now, my breasts did get bigger! I went from a 34D to, well... bigger. And yes, my hips a little more pronounced. It didn't deal with acne as well as Mircette did for me, and I'm not sure if the headache behind my eyes is directly from Yasmin or because I'm not sleeping at night. I kind of liked the new figure, but I don't know how long I will hold out. I'm going to stay on 1 more month to see if some of the symptoms subside. This works well for me right now mainly because I can get this for free.

I just started taking Yasmin because my physician gave me some samples, and I thought I was imagining things when, after only two weeks, my breasts seemed a bit plumper and my hips a bit sqooshier. I hadn't gained any weight, though. It's as though my fat is redistributing or something. Now, on the first week of my second month, my own mother noted that my breasts were noticeably larger. Has anyone else had this experience without the weight gain? Honestly I'm most concerned about stretch marks, especially if I change brands in the future and this effect goes away.

I spoke of weakness and breast enlargement and tenderness. I also had terrible cramps, which I hadn't had in years. I also had a spike in libido around 3 months, the same time my breasts went from a C to a D and my hips grew. After 4 months, my side effects have lessened, but the hips and breast are still big with a small weight gain. The only reason I switched to this pill was because I was having constant breakthrough bleeding the Aleese. Otherwise I loved Alleese. I had absolutely no side effects that I can remember. If I have many more side effects from Yasmin, I may try Alleese again. PS. I take welbutrin IR already for depression, so I never noticed a change in my moods and anxiety. I also have been diagnosed with elevated Mercury, which causes me to be extremely tired. So I didn't attribute the extra fatigue and weakness that I had in the first weeks to Yasmin, but now after reading all the posts, I wonder.

I had extreme weakness in the first couple of weeks, but thought it was due to something else. That passed, but after 3 months on Yasmin, all of the sudden I went from a small C to a small D and my breasts are often tender. I have also gained a few pounds and an inch in my waist and an inch in my hips. After 4 months I noticed my contacts starting to bother me. During the time I felt week, I also felt like I was starving, but that has passed, and I feel my appetite is normal.

I am 24 and have been taking Yasmin for 3 months.
I am nearly 15lbs heavier balloning to 150lbs (I am 5'5) - I work out 4-5 days a week and eat very well, NOTHING wil take the weight off.
I have been constipated to the point I have emitted blood.
I have been the most irritable and moody person, I am beginning to dislike myself for blowing up at everything, all the time. My boyfriend is starting to notice, the other day he listerally said,
"Who ARE YOU and what have you done to my sweet girlfriend?"
On the plus side (literally now lol) my skin is very nice and my periods are regular but extremely heavy. I am going off this pill when I see my doctor next week, I cannot take this anymore, I keep g aining and gaining, nothing will stop it. Quit while you still can, this pill is falsely advertised.
My stomach is like a balloon and my hips are spreading, it's as if I were pregnant.
PS - I am SOOOO happy someone brought up the VISION blurriness, I have PILOT vision and recently i can't read worth a damn.
Good luck. I can't wait to get the old me back :)
DO NOT START THIS PILL IF YOU PLAN TO WEAR A BATHING SUIT THIS SUMMER!

I have been on Yasmin for about 1 1/2 years. It has cleared my skin incredibly, but I don't know if my clearer skin has to do with the fact that I am older and done with that stage in life. On a bad note, my boob, hips, and legs have grown incredibly! This bloating is bothering the heck out of me. I went from a size 2 to a size 6 over the course of 6 months! I don't know whether to quit taking it and risk breaking out, but being my skinny usual self or have clear skin and deal with all the bloating. Which would you prefer?

2 weeks ago I switched from Microgestion FE to Yasmin. I thought my slight pms would disappear with yasmin. What has followed has made my slight pms feel like a walk in the park.
5 days into the first week I had terrible nausea, heart palpitations and anxiety. A few days later started the body aches everywhere. i felt like i was actually dying. I found this website and went off the pill after 11 days, within 1 day I was so much better and almost totally better by 2-4 days.
A week later they gave me Yaz samples. Started those 4 days ago. I was vomiting this afternoon and now have seriously bad cramps in my hips and legs. i feel like i got hit by a truck. i have to assume its the pill, since it's so similar to the yasmin. what is strange is that i tried a pack or two of yaz a year ago with no problems that i recall. And although i am having the anxiety and mental side effects these physical ones are not something i am manifesting. I am not sure if my body has changed, or like another posted mentioned a reformulation. Never had side effects to bcps before either.
