I gotta tell ya this is scary. I am a 30 yr old guy my wife is 27 we have four children. Our last one was born Mar. 2007 She has been on Yasmin 6months or so.She has never been regular on periods. Well a few weeks ago she started having massive headaches. As of June 31st her doctor said she has migraines. Well by July first her left eye went blurry by the 2nd she has lost vision in both eyes. She only sees light and is very cloudy and can see shadows. We made 3 trips to ER. They did Cat scan and it was neg. the doctor said she might have even had a mild stroke because her left cheek went numb. By the 2nd we were in ER again because of total vision loss. They did a lumbar punture and no Meningitus. cat scan again neg. blood work neg. except UTI sound familiar ladies??? By the 3rd we visited her doctor and she passed out and was rushed by EMT to Hosp. They did and MRI,MRA,had a eye Doctor called an ophthalmologist clear her of vision problems. She has talked to a neurologist. So here is a 27 yr old female with all the test's coming back normal but she can't see. They even had a psychiatrist talk to her because she is on Prozac because she has PCOS and had half her ovaries removed and almost died. They even suggested that she had conversion disorder(google it). Finally I decided to check side effects for all her meds. When I checked this one I almost jumped outta the chair. She has about 10 symptoms. But before I get too excited has anyone had vision loss for a period of time and did it come back once off of it?? I'm throwing these away

hi... i have had a few ide effects for awhile and i am planning to stop taking it at the end of this month to see if they stop. i have noticed the effects mostly over the last 6months or so and yasmin is the only conclusion i have. my effects are very sore a swollen breasts, some loss of sex drive, last 2 months my hair has been thinning and comes out in clumps, eye sight in left eye is quite lazy now, forgetfulness (used to remember everything!), needing to use the toilet lots during the night, i have put on some weight. i didnt realise vaginal cramps were a side effect and i don sometimes get this and the week before i am due to stop yasmin for the seven days i have spotting for seven days. these are the main things for me. i am pleased i have read this site as i didnt know some of the side effects. i have taken yasmin for about 4.5 years. i feel its time for a break from it!! thanks

hi all, it sounds like i may have come to the right place, hopefully someone can help me. i started taking yasmin in jan 05 after stopping breastfeeding my then 1 year old. All seemed fine but 1 year ago i started to get severe anxiety attacks and panic attacks paraniod episodes as well as numbing in my face, twitching in my left eye, palpitations, stomach cramps, constipation or worse the other extreme! and raging headaches that feel like someone is crushing my head.My doctor told me i was suffering from anxiety disorder and put me in touch with a counceller and gave me a prescription for diazepam, i came off the diazepam and have been trying natural congnitive therapy for my anxiety (which has given me a foem of agoraphobia, not great with 2 kids that want to go out all the time!) i have been looking into the hormone link as i seem to feel worse about 9 days before my period then i came across this site, i am seriously considering stopping taking this pill ,is not needed anyway as sex is the last thing on my mind these days. does this sound familiar to any-one? did your anxiety improve when you stopped taking the yasmin, i am scared that it will make it worse if i stop but i know that i have to take that risk to find out if it is the yasmin that is making me ill, help i feel like a total crank most of the time,i want to go back to being normal!

Hi,

I never respond to these things, but this time, I had to!! I started taking Yasmin one month ago, and I feel so odd. I'm never cranky, moody or depressed, now I'm all three. And ironically, it's one week from my period and my left eye will NOT stop twitching. My hands are shaking and I constantly feel nauseous. Has anyone switched to a different pill were the side effects were not as intense?!

Thanks!

hi everyone,
i had been taken yasmin for 2 years for severe pcos. i'm only 28 years old.in march 2005 i saw my reg md because my heart was racing.he told me it wasn't anything.i ended up in the er in april 2005 for another problem the er dr listened to my heart & ran an ekg on me because she heard something.that was fine.then i went back to my reg md my eyes were hurting very bad & my heart was still racing.this time my reg md said it was a panic, anxiety, depression.learn to live with it.i saw my reg md nov3 2005 because now i'm having sharp shooting pains in my left leg, swelling & my foot's numb.he ordered me a gi xray.i was finally able to get an appt with my gyn dr on dec 27 2005 told him the problems i'm having .he took me right off the yasmin.gave me lo ovral which i just started to take sunday my leg got worse it got so bad on weds i called the dr's office up got 4 return calls telling me go to the er.which i couldn't afford i have no insurnace or income.as i take care of my bedridden mother.so i called the midwife back she tells me sounds like a blood clot & orders an ultrasound. i got it done on thursday & have yet to get an answer. i'm even had floating blurry spots in my left eye.i see my reg md on thursday 16 i can't even find out when my gyn dr going to be in the office as he has 3 offices to run between.does anybody have any ideas what i can do in the meantime to make my leg feel better.
thanks

I am in the third week of my first time with Yasmin. After taking loestin for 3 wonderful years of PMS free life, it stoped working so the mid-wives suggested this. So far my major complaint is the breast swelling and tenderness, already a D-cup, don't want to go back to nursing size. Also, fleeting but blinding headaches behind my left eye...someone please tell me this goes away eventually....thx!

I am on the first week of my second pack of Yasmin BUT I am taking them continuously, in other words no dummy week, no period every month. I take the dummy pills once every three months. My biggest side effect is the breast tenderness and fullness. I went from a D to a DD. At first I had headaches behind my left eye but that went away. It has helped with PMS emotional symtoms (what is precribed for) so I will try it for the three months as suggested by my midwives. My midwives also told me 400 I.U. 2 times a day for the breast symptoms. Hopefully that helps...we must all remember that we all have different hormone levels and therefore can have serious discrepancies in how we react to this med. Keep the faith and know you are not alone...
