I have been on Yasmin since 6 weeks after having my baby, and he is now 5 months. Since then, i have noticed some strange things going on, and until finding this site i just thought it was my body still adjusting to having a baby. But I have been VERY emotional, and can snap at my husband very easily. I also have been having heart palpitations and it will almost take my breath away, and i feel like i could pass out. I thought it was low iron and went to the doctor, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong. I also have been losing my hair. I kept telling everyone how bad my hair is falling out, and my husband is just amazed at how much because he has to clean out the shower drain everyday because of it. Also my skin has been itching me like crazy. And now i really think its because of this pill!! What would be a better choice? I defiantly don't want to get pregnant again this quick, but i don't want to have to go through all of these symptoms, especially if they are going to get worse.

Please let me know if a class-action lawsuit is ever filed against this Pharm Co because I will file a suit to get this dangerous drug off the market. Yasmin/Yaz almost took my life in January 08. My OB/GYN put me on Yaz in Oct 07 for bad periods and cysts on my overies. Within a month my entire personality changed and I started losing my hair. I experienced a complete loss of sex drive, became depressed and was either constanting crying or raging at someone. However, my adult acne did clear up. On 1/27/08 I experienced extreme pain in my calf that moved up to my thigh within 48 hrs. I went to the ER and was told that no only did I a condition called DVT (Deep Vein Thrombisis-blood clot) in my leg but that the clot had broken off and moved into both of my lungs and I had bi-lateral pulmonary embolism. I can't even describe how incredibly painful this was. I was admitted into the hospital for 1 week and was put on powerful blood thinners, which I will be on for about a year. It's now been nearly 6 months since I was diagnosed and the DVT and it is still in my uppper thigh. But am grateful to be alive. If you would like to contact me I would be glad to answer any questions regarding this situation and my email addy is ****** PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YAZ OR YASMIN OR LET ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY TAKE THIS MED, IT COULD KILL YOU.

I've been on Yasmin for four months. With all of the side affects from Yasmin it is the only pill that makes me feel somewhat normal. Just to name a couple I've been on Levlen, Tricyclen and they all caused major infections, depression and mood swings. I am only on the pill because I have a cyst on my ovary and the doctors will not operate because it is not big enough to remove but big enough to cause a lot of discomfort. Every month when I start Yasmin the first couple of days I am very moody and then I am okay until the week before my period thats when i am depressed and grouchy. Now I've started losing my hair, not cool. I'm sure it's Yasmin because i am not on any other medications and I take really good care of my hair. I just hoping it will pass.

Doing an article on Yasmin, INFO WANTED on Side Effects that occur after you stop taking the pill

Hey okay so I'm doing an article on Yasmin, the side effects that occur when you stop taking the pill, and would like more information on it. I would like to interview ex users of the pills that have experienced either hair loss, lack of period, severe headaches, and just about anything that resulted. I need to write this article ASAP! All experiences are helpful. I too used to be on the pill, and ever since I stopped taking it my cycle has been out of whack. Please contact me either via email gator924@ufl.edu or through AIM: lipsfullbittin or via phone: 786-239-8751.

While most people know some of the side effects of taking the pill, few know the side effects that occur when you stop taking it. It would be a helpful article to any users or future users of the pill, don't you agree?

I took Yasmin for 2 years and about 6 months after starting Yasmin I started getting migraines at least 3 x per week and sometimes 5 x per week (before not even really getting many normal headaches). I thought it might be my birth control and saw my OB who referred me to a Neurologist who put me on a medicine for migraines. About another 5 months later I noticed I had a small bald spot in my hair line. Saw a Dermatologist who diagnosed it is alopecia. I immediately stopped Yasmin and migraine meds and decided to get an IUD (GREAT CHOICE!) My migraines stopped almost immediately, however my hair loss continues to progress. I now have 3 additionally bald spots on my head and areas on my scalp that are very thin. I feel great otherwise, no headaches, no depression (other than losing my hair), no anxiety, appetite is normal. I'm so desperate to find someone else that has had this specific problem as no one believes the hair loss is connected to Yasmin. I just pray after awhile the hair will grow back. Please if anyone has experienced this same situation please post what might have helped you get through it and if it does ease up! One more thing - I have scalp pain, like burning on the front and top and back part of my scalp, wide spread, not only in the bald areas.

I've been taking Yasmin for 7 months now...at first it was brilliant! i have had trouble with other pills in the past and Yasmin seemed totally different.
however, after settling down with it, i am starting to experience some side effects. i appreciate that obviously they may not be related to Yasmin but after reading other people's experiences I'm thinking that they probably are!

my hair falls out more than is normal...i used to have really thick hair and now it's getting pretty thin.
i have developed a cyst on the side of my head?!
i get weird pains in the right of my chest and stomach as if I've been exercising too much or sitting balled up for hours.
i have gone off food.
my sex drive is none existent! my boyfriend and i used to do it pretty much every day and now i never want it. we haven't really had any proper sexual contact in over a month.
i had complete loss of vision in one eye.
I'm getting seriously anxious about things that are important, but overly so.
i feel permanently tired and drained no matter how much sleep i get.
i cry 24/7 over absolutely anything... songs, adverts... its ridiculous!?

if i come off Yasmin it'll be the 3rd pill that doesn't agree with my body. I'm gonna have to try something new i think...

Hi all,
I only discovered my condition due to bleeding for ten days.
After running tests, i was diagnosed as thalassemia carrier having iron deficiency anemia with PCO My doctor prescribed for me yasmine for 3 months. However she believes, it will not treat PCO. So i will do an oral glucose tolerance test this week. Besides on the result, i may start metformin. I already started losing my hair months ago.

Is it normal what i feel of dizziness and tiredness? Will this medication increase my weight? I am very healthy and watching my diet carefully. If any one has similar experience please tell me what i should expect and feel free to mail me.

I was on Yasmin a few years back and didnt seem to have any noted problems. At the time, I had extremely long hair. Past my butt, about mid-thigh. I began losing tons of hair. At the time, I had no clue as to why I was losing my hair. Me and my husband assumed that my hair had just reached a length that my scalp could no longer handle. I went and got my first haircut in 15 years!! I got it cut to about bra-strap length. Then shortly thereafter, my insurance stopped covering Yasmin so I was forched to switch. The hairloss stopped. I never thought twice about it. I assumed the haircut put an end to the hairloss. Until recently. I have never been able to take the higher estrogen birth control pills due to migraines. Only Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, Lowestrin, Yasmin, and Ortho Micronor. Most recently, I had been taking Ortho Micronor due to breastfeeding my son. At my recent annual, my doctor wanted me to get off the Ortho Micronor because he said its not as effective as the other ones and he only had me on it because I had been breastfeeding. Now that I was no longer breastfeeding, he wanted me off it. He was going to put me on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, but I specifically asked for Yasmin because I remember how nice it made my skin and figure. I have been on it for 16 days now and have noticed constipation, weight gain, and most predominantly...major hair loss. I took a shower and washed my hair the other day and noticed clumps falling out as I was rinsing. Then while I was brushing it after I got out, I cleaned a hairball the size of my fist out of my hairbrush afterwards. I still didn't put two and two together. I got online only to look up if the constipation was a side effect of the Yasmin cuz I dont remember having constipation the last time I was on it. Thats when I found that other women were having hairloss from Yasmin. Then I remembered the last time I suffered this type of hair loss, and it was indeed, the last time I was on the Yasmin. Even though I dont recall constipation or weight gain with the Yasmin last time, I definately notice it now. I've gained 4 pounds in 16 days. This really upsets me since I recently lost 26 pounds. So, Im calling my doctor today and tell him I dont care if the Ortho Micronor is less effective because I prefer to keep my hair and not become a whale =)

Hi everyone! To answer the questions about the hair loss, it will stop. I started losing my hair about a month after stopping the Yamsin (August 2004), I have noticed in the past few months that my hair is getting thicker. I had lost about half of my hair. My beautician told me I am lucky that I had thick hair because if I didn't I would have had obvious patches of hair loss! I am NEVER going on bcps again!! My husband is going to get a vasectomy soon. I am lucky that he is so understanding and don't think that I just a crazy women! It's been almost a year and a half and I still suffer from side effects especially the week I am ovulating. Anxiety, depression, negative thoughts, heart palipitations and my face is constantly flushed. My dr put me on Zoloft May 2005 and it seemed to help for a while but I think because its the hormones that are my problem it isn't really working anymore. Adavan works much better when needed.
Stay strong ladies!!
Oh, I had to laugh at my husband the other night, he thinks we should all band together and sue the pants off of the makers of Yasmin!

Hi Worried...
I had such bad chest pains that I was in the ER three times, and everytime they told me everything was fine. That was actually while I was still on the pill though. I have been off almost 2 months and the chest pain is gone. I get it a bit when I get anxious, but I have been seeing a therapist to help with thte anxiety and panic attacks. It worked very well...I feel almost anxiety free...just around the time of my period do I freak out a bit...not near as bad as I used to.
As far as losing my hair, thank goodness I haven't had that side effect but many people have. How about low backaches for you guys...mine are just terrible during PMS, way worse than they were before. I wish you all luck...and Happy Thanksgiving!

I made an earlier post about losing my hair post-Yasmin. I'm about 4-5 months off. After I stopped I had two regular periods, then the 3rd came after 5 weeks and now the 4th has yet to come. This seems to be the opposite of what should happen after getting off the pill!! Has this happened to anyone else? Did it regulate at some point?

Just wanted to say that I started taking Yasmin in July '04. After 2 months on it, depression and anxiousness became so serious that I was put on medication for both. In May of '05 (10 months of taking it), my hair started falling out. Like, clumps of it. After doing some research, it seemed A LOT of women were experiencing the same thing from Yasmin - the hair loss, depression and anxiousness. I had NO prior knowledge that any of these were side effects of Yasmin. I stopped taking Yasmin this past June - I am still losing my hair. I have lost about 25% of my hair so far, and I'm a wreck over it - I dread brushing my hair. What is going ON?!? It's scary! Why weren't we TOLD that this would happen when we were prescribed Yasmin?

YASMIN AND HAIR LOSS???

Hi,
It has been 7 months since I stopped taking yasmin, and I am still losing alot of my hair everyday. I was on yasmin for a year when I realised that I was losing my hair.I had a full & healthy head of hair before starting Yasmin. I contacted my Gynie and he suggested I stop the pill and see if my hair starts to grow back.
But it has been 7 months and still no improvement. How long does the yasmin (hormones) stay in the body after you stop taking it? I am a very active person,I always eat healthy(so I know that it not diet related).
I am really depressed about this as I am only 27 yrs old. I wish that I had never taken Yasmin.
If anyone has the same symptoms, please post it.
