I started taking Yasmine in 2005 and almost imeemdiatley I started to have severe anxiety, depression, no sex drive at all and worse of all extremely bad migranes especially a few days before getting my period and during. My life had to be put on hold when I had my period because of the migranes. I stopped taking the Yasmine 3 weeks ago because I just couldn't take the migranes anymore. I have noticed I have gained some weight, my skin and hair feels alot oilier, and my hair has been falling out more than usual which is kind of freaking me out, don't have mood swings. My sex drive has gotten better which is a relief. I still don't know if my migranes will have gone away during my period. I'm just curious can anyone tell me if these side effects (hair loss, weight gain, oily skin) will go away after a few months.
When I went off another type of pill I actually lost weight, why is this one different?

Thank god for the internet-I don't know what I would have done if I had to feel the way I did from taking Yasmin any longer without knowing why. I took Yasmin for two months. In the third week of my second month I suffered from severe anxiety and panic attacks along with irrational fears and obsessing on random thoughts that wouldn't normally bother me. When I would somewhat calm down, I would then feel so depresses because I didn't know why I just couldn't go back to feeling like myself. I am a worry-er, I admit, but never to this extreme. I was so nervous, I had no appetite and the anxiety really began to take its toll on me physically. Now that I look back on it, I was more nervous than usual in my first month, I have lost my sex drive, I have had small dizzy spells and blurred vision, random pains in my left lower abdomen area, but I never put these all together. When I found not only this website, but tons others with women writing about all of these side effects, I already started feeling like myself again. It's been 4 days off the pill and I still get a little anxious, but nothing like it was last week. I can't wait for this stuff to get out of my system. I did take the pill at 7:45 every night and I do notice I'm more nervous in the morning when I get up and by late afternoon, I start to relax and feel more like myself. Synthetic hormones are not natural and I really feel like we shouldn't put this stuff in our bodies. We are messing with scary stuff. God only knows what would have happened if I had to endure any more of that physical and mental pain!

Hi, I started taking Yaz in November 06. The first few months were fine. Then, I started having to urinate ALL the time. I also developed very bad pain in my right lower abdomen. In addition, I lost my appetite and became increasingly depressed and anxious. I went to the hospital three times for the pain. After 2 CT scans, an x-ray, any many urine and blood tests, everything came back normal, but my symptoms remained. The thing the doctors found was multiple, small bilateral cysts on my ovaries, which they told me is perfectly normal. Is it?

Last week, my period came a week and half early which is VERY unusual for me. After looking up information about YAZ, I realized that my symptoms were likely caused by this pill. Anyways, I stopped taking it three days ago. How long do you think it will take for my symptoms to go away?

It's been a year since I discontinued taking Yasmin. To recap, my problems with Yasmin were heavy, extended periods (longer than 7 days); moodiness/irritability; hemmorhaging; extensive bleeding (2 1/2 months); hair loss. I discontinued the Yasmin during the 2 1/2 month bleeding cycle. It took another month and a shot of Depo-Provera to stop the bleeding. Even then, my next period lasted 2 1/2 weeks. Before Yasmin, I had regular but heavy periods. At least I knew what to expect!

Since then, my periods are somewhat better. They last only 5 - 7 days now, but they are still somewhat irregular. Sometimes they'll come every 4 - 5 weeks, sometimes after 3 weeks or as long as 6 weeks. The cramps are the worst tho! I had a relatively "normal" period in July that started on the 14th and stopped on the 20th. It's now Aug 6th and I'm on day 2 of another period, only 2 1/2 weeks later. I'm not cramping per se, but I have a feeling of pressure in my lower abdomen and shooting pains down my right leg. Oh joy! My hair has started to grow back in, but it's all coming in silver-grey. Ah well, that's what Ms. Clairol is for.

I'd like to thank the makers of Yasmin as well as the medical "professionals" who push this "hell in a pill" on the unsuspecting public in order to get kickbacks as well as "perks". Thank you for screwing up my reproductive system. Thank you for causing me even more pain than I was already in. Thank you for ignoring my calls for help when I consistently and constantly told you that something didn't feel right when I was on this concoction. Thank you for continuing to lie to the general public when you say there are very few side effects with this pill. Will it take someone dying from this pill for you to acknowledge that it bad medicine? Lord knows I came close to it!

Hi,

I was on Yasmin for abt 19 months. I decided to stop the pill somewhere end of March after reading all the bad side effects. My last pill was somewhere end of March, i got my period as scheduled after i finish the last pack,

However for my next period which was suppose to be on the 21st of April, it came late on the 26th of April instead and it was not a normal flow of period. So i thought yeahhh at least my period still comes but..................

Heres the thing, I didnt get my period on the 26th of May, i took a pregnancy test somehwere on the 30th of May, it came back negative.

Its now the 22nd of June and I have yet to get my period. I am really worried that my period will never come again. For those who has gone through this post yasmin hell, is this a normal thing and how long did it take ure body to adjust to having normal periods again?

Do u guys thing that this is something to worry abt and i should have it checked out? I am freaking out abt not having my period, cause my body feels yucky, likei hav cramps now and then on my lower abdomen and my nipples are sore, (but strangely enough not my breast) cause usually before i get my period, my breast are the one that are sore!

Please help! I am going out of my mind with worry!

I have recently started taking the Orthotricyclen pill. I have had nothing but trouble. I have diabetes, and therefore it has completely screwed up my bloodsugar. This is fine. I have finally found a way to control them. But, I am having some other adverse effects. I am nausiated, EXTREMELY moody, very weird dreams, tired most of the time, etc. But I do have a question. I have slight crampiness in my lower abdomen. It is the same type of cramping (or uneasy feeling) that I get the day before my period. I do not know if this is normal. It does have me a bit concerned. I was told by my doctor that it is better if you do not have sexual intercourse after taking it, up to two weeks after. I was dumb however and did anyways. I am worried that the symptoms that I am having may be that I got pregnant even though I am taking the pill. (I had all of these symptoms when I was pregnant before) If these are normal symptoms, please let me know. (I haven't read anything about other people cramping...only uneasiness, not full on cramp)

I've experienced weepiness and bad mood swings since beginning Yasmin. Also achiness in my lower abdomen. Kind of like menstrual cramping.

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...

Hey ladies... I'm 24 years old and I've been on Yasmin for the past two or so years. The first year or so, I was side effect free and I thought that the pill was the greatest thing invented by science. I used to run around promoting it to every female on knew because I thought that this was the end-all-be-all of oral contraception. But then things changed, gradually over time... and now that I'm reading all of these complaints of negative side effects that I too experience- and now I'm freaking out.

Here is the rundown of side effects that I have:
-Fatigue
-Weight Gain (happened about 6 months ago, all of a sudden gained 10-12 lbs despite diet and exercise)
-Violent Mood Swings
-Psychosis
-Depression
-Anxiety
-Paranoia
-Constant Hungryness
-SEVERE Acid Reflux
-Major Digestive Problems
-Panic Attacks
-Achey Joints
-Muscle Fatigue
-Migraine Headaches
-Lump in Left Breast
-Racing Heart
-Heart Palpitations (left-center of chest, almost daily)
-Night Sweats
-Nightmares (nightly... and really terrible ones)
-Insomnia
-Monthly Spotting
-Multiple Periods Per Month
-Mysterious Abdominal Pains (like... lower abdomen)
-Thinned Hair
-Generally, a Complete Bitch
-Weird Discharge
-Acne like the dickens (and in places like... my eye area?)
-Cloudy Thinking/Zero Concentration

I could write more... but you get the point.

Right now, I'm feeling really guilty for ruining the wonderful relationship that I had with my boyfriend. Because of my general psychosis, he has begun to second guess our relationship- I mean, who wouldn't second guess things when your girlfriend is a complete mess. I just hope that I can return to my old self after coming off of these pills- because right now. I also feel sorry for my family for having to deal with me being unstable for the past few months. It's been a terrible strain on all of my personal relationships.

I feel like a really sad psycho-bitch with a lump in her left breast that can't even sleep through the night at age 24.

My Ob/Gyn has always encouraged me to be on some form of birth control (for obvious reasons), but I have to say that I'm going to have to go against medical advice on this one. When I get my period on this pill, it is also the (excuse me for saying this) the smelliest, most clot-ridden, painful, heaviest and most disgusting mess ever.

My previous experience with BCP's was Ortho Tri-Cyclen and I originally came off that pill because it gave me no sex drive, huge boobies that I didn't want, and extreme mood swings. Now that I've also had this terrible experience with Yasmin, I'm calling it quits in the artificial hormone adventures. It's strictly condoms and diaphragms for this girl. Risking my health and causing permanent damage was NEVER what I intended for... I just intended on not getting pregnant and having a regular cycle.

Ladies... I'm throwing the pills in the trash TODAY. If you are smart, you will do the same. These artificial hormones have ruined my life... and all I can hope for is that I can repair the damage that they have done. If you're thinking "gee, I've been on these for like 9 months and I'm fine!"- think again. It will happen to you. It happens to everyone. Save your body and your soul from complete hell by throwing the pills away TODAY.

I started this pill almost 3 weeks ago, and could not even take it the first full month. I wanted to give it a try for PCOS, to help get rid of excess facial hair, regulate hormones etc.

When i say my body has been ravaged by this pill, that is an understatement! Immediately, the frequent urination began, but i can deal with that. Not a biggie. I started taking them like the 2nd day of my period, a Sunday, to get that nice effect of no period on the weekend sort of thing. I have been bleeding ever since. Heavy, clotty bleeding for 3 weeks! I have never bled like this. Cramps like I haven't experienced since I was about 16. Then the UTI came, then the abdominal pain. I am so bloated, my belly is so hard, it's ridiculous. I guess i have a lot of gas, but can only burp if i force myself to, or drink a big coke or something. I feel like if i was poked with a pin, I would POP! I have been constipated, and I never experienced this, even when I was pregnant and taking all that extra iron. The abdominal pain is the most excruciating part, though. It started out in my lower abdomen as soreness, but i had just gotten over a stomach virus, so thought i was just sore from vomiting. Then the pain started rising, to the point that now its in my ribcage. I cant even yawn without wanting to scream. No deep breaths or anything. I can barely get in and out of my car. The only way i make it through the night is with Darvocet, because i get low grade fever and the pain is worse at night. My Gyno thought it may be gall bladder trouble, so I had full bloodwork 2 days ago, which i wont get the results for a few days, and today I had an ultrasound, so they could pinpoint and schedule for surgery. Surprise, no gall bladder trouble on the ultra sound. I have also had severe joint pain, to the point of crying. I havent taken a pill for 2 days, just couldnt take it anymore, so hopefully when this stuff leaves my system, I can get back to normal. Sorry for the long vent but i'm sick of being in pain. Never had any health troubles prior to this. Beware for anyone in the future.
