Well like some of you, I've had the really bad lower back pain, cramps and really heavy bleeding while on my period. I have been so tired and have no energy and been really irritable. I know it has to be Yasmin because prior to taking it I felt fine. I'm going to stop taking it tonight and see how I feel the rest of the week. It usually takes awhile to get out of your system right?

Wow... I'm not going crazy!!! My doc put me on Yazmin about a year ago to help regulate my moods. At first it wasn't bad. I lost weight, which was GREAT! But the past several months I've been miserable and didn't know why until now. I haven't slept throught the night in so long, I get really bad headaches, severe lower back pain, NO SEXDRIVE whatsoever ( used to have a really high sex drive), and extreme irratability and fatigue. I've experienced PMS symptoms that I never knew existed, sometimes for 3 weeks out of the month. i'm so glad I decided to google and found this page. I will definitely go off this pill at the end of my pack and see my doctor about going back on Marvelon, which i don't think I had any major problems with before. I will keep you posted!!!

My dermatologist put me on Yaz a little less than 2 weeks ago for acne. I've been bleeding ever since! I'm really getting worried about it and have been debating calling my gyn to see what the deal is. Has anyone else bled like crazy with Yaz? How long did it take to stop? My flow is probably medium and bright red...with no signs of stopping at the moment. I also have had a horrible headache for about 3 days, can't sleep, have lower back pain, and feel extremely nauseated. This pill is horrible!

I don't know if this is from the Yasmin or not...I have been on it for 2 years and recently for the last couple of months the week before the "white" pill week I experience sinus infection like symptoms as well as terrible low back pain. Anyone out there like me?

I can't believe what I'm reading. It's all finally starting to click for me.
I have been on Yasmin for a couple of years. And a couple of years ago, the panic attacks started. I finally got over those for the most part. They still come and go from time to time. However, over the last 6 months I have been suffering from horrible lower back pain, UTIs, constant sinus infections, etc.
I have had every kind of test run possible trying to figure out what it going on. After reading all your posts as well as doing some additional research it is frightening clear what is going on.
I have made an appointment with my doctor for Monday. I told her what I suspected and she was very open to discussing my suspision and even said "sounds like we might have found the problem".
I just started my period, so I'm not planning to purchase any more Yasmin. I need to get this out of my system. I just hope I don't experience worse effects trying to clear the drug from my system.

Hello ladies...I just started taking Yasmin a few days ago and I am already experiencing some odd side effects. The first couple days I had some light nausea, which quickly passed. However, I am experiencing lower abdominal pain (kind of like light cramps) and also lower back pain. In addition, I have less of an appetite. If anyone else has experienced the crampy kind of pains from this, please let me know. This is the third birth control I have been on but never experienced this before. Thank you!

Hi,
I have been on Yasmin for about 2 1/2 weeks now.
Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I am really sensitive about things, that I am more depressed and sad and I had an anxiety attack yesterday. My heartbeat is faster and I have a high level of anxiousness.
I also notice that my legs are more cramped after sitting down at my desk for a couple of hours. At work I dont sit down all day, I get up and walk around all the time, but the back of my thighs feel cramped at the end of the day and I have lower back pain I havnt really noticed before.
I think I am going to stop taking this today. I cant remember the last time I felt this sad and depressed for absolutely no reason!!!

Hello All,
I started Yasmin three months ago when my husband and I moved to Italy and boy has it been awful! You don't have to go to a doctor to get a prescription for many drugs, so I went to a pharmacy and asked one of the pharmacists what she would reccommend since a drug comparable to what I have been taking for the last ten years, Ortho Tricyclin, is not available here. She gave me Yasmin.
I have a heart condition and have always had heart palpatations, but never like this. Yesterday I bent over to pick up a book and thought I was having a heart attack. It was awful. About two months into taking the pill, I was doing a pilates video that I have done dozens of times before with no problems and fifteen minutes into it I had to sit down because I could barely breathe and my heart was beating so hard. Most every day I find myself thinking about breathing, having to purposfully take very deep breaths to make sure that I am actually getting oxygen.
Also, I have been experiencing major mood swings, depression and anxiety. I thought that it was due to the new enviroment, but now I am not so sure. This was the first month that I did not have at least one day where I was a total bitch. Anything anyone said pissed me off. I feel sorry for all of the folks that have been around me that past few months! Especially my wonderful husband who is always so supportive.
I can also mention headaches, massive neck and back tension, lower back pain, lethargy and insomnia.
I have four pills left in this pack and I am not so sure that I want to take them. I am glad that I was referred to an English speaking gyno here. I'll be seeing her soon.
I wish you all good health.
Bright Blessings.
Brandie

Hi everyone
I just wanted to say thank you for all of the posts you have put up. They are the only thing that have kept me sane in the last month. I have been on Yasmin for a year already and had almost no noticeable symptoms with the exception of shortness of breath from time to time. It did clear up my skin and increase my breast size as well.
It seems like every negative side effect of the drug has just hit me recently. It all started after my first pill of this pill pack with nausea and an odd tingling in my breasts, something that I have never experienced before. Then it progressed into the worst cramps I have ever felt that came on 1 1/2 weeks before my period was due to start, complete with lower back pain and a weird chunky white discharge. Then the dizzy spells started. I could hardly go to work. I felt I was in a fog the entire day. In addition to this all I was extremely depressed and had odd leg cramps.
The whole time I thought I was pregnant because I had never felt this way before and pregancy seemed like the only explanation. I went to the doctor and had a blood pregnancy test which came out negative. After reading this site one sleepless night, I found out it may actually be Yasmin that was causing me so much pain. When I called my gynecologist, and mentioned to her that I thought my symptoms might be from Yasmin, she told me I was crazy because no way would it start to affect me after a year of being on it.
Well, I am on my placebo pills now and I feel MUCH better. I am not sure what to do next. I do not want to go on and off birth control. I am thinking of trying something new, but am a little scared. I want to let you know that the symptoms may strike at any time regardless of the length of time you have been on the pill. Good luck everyone!

I felt the need to add these postings with my experience. I'm 23 and have only been on Yasmin for two months (i just took my last yellow pill yesterday). The first month I was fine, my acne has gotten better the cramps lessened (no longer debilitating like they were) and my period got lighter. The second month everything changed. I have been severly nauseas and vomiting for going on two weeks now. Because of the nausea I haven't been able to eat very much and have lost 10lbs in less than 2 weeks, which sounds good but when you are only 100lbs loosing anymore weight is a little dangerous. I can't stand to be nauseas. Vomiting is my only fear in the world and up until recently I hadn't vomiting in 15years (i liked it that way). I have also had a very difficult time breathing. I'm very weak probably because I can't eat anything and something as simple as brushing my hair wears me out completely and leaves me panting. I'm a normally depressed person and am taking wellbutrin for it so I can't say it has made me any more depressed than usual. I also get dizzy very often so again this doesn't seem to make it any worse. I have had lots of cramps, stomach and otherwise as well as lower back pain. I don't know if that is just my upcoming period or the BC. I feel like i'm pregnant although I have taken tests saying i'm not. I hate this...I'm glad i'm not working right now otherwise i would have had to taken off these past two weeks. However I just got a job and can not continue to feel like this. I am afraid to leave my house for fear of vomiting in some remote place therefore I haven't really gone anywhere in the last two weeks. I'm not sure if these are just side effects of the pill or if it is hyerkalemia but either way I can't live like this. I wish I could continue and see if my symptoms subside but yeah I can't take the risk they won't with my new job and everything. More power to anyone who is taking it without severe side effects, i just wish i was one of you. This has been my first attempt at a BCP and i'm not sure what to do from this point on...I can't deal with side effects this severe again. If anyone has any suggestions on what pill might but best please let me know....

1st week on Yasmin - It might be too soon to pass judgement but I think I hate it. Nausea for first 2 days, lower back pain, nausea at the taste of cauliflower (usually like it!) waking at 4 am, feeling tired by 8.30 pm, peeing all the time, feeling like i have constant PMS - (my doctor recommended it to help with PMS) skin feels and looks good, breasts are swollen and sore - no headache though. Just feel generally off. Will try and give it another month then decide but if this is the norm -they can keep it...

I have been on Yasmin 2 years. My side effects seem to have been sore breasts (uncomfortably bigger 'uns, too); a new, continual witchy-gripiness, and loss of ALL sex drive (which never happened with any other pill, and I've taken them 15 years). I also have increased lower back pain (from a drunk-ex-boyfriend injury 8 years ago). I've gained about 10 pounds these past two years. Add to those side effects a DEFINITE, UNDENIABLE loss of hair (only "down there"), which makes me look like my grandmother in that nether region. My gyno said that Yasmin causes hair loss there. I don't see many of you on this site mentioning that side effect, though, and it's not a bad one, especially if one wears swimming suits, but it is very weird. Also, I don't wake up as quickly nowadays (which is quite unusual for me), and I actually kind of drool during sleep sometimes--a very unusual thing. I'm more lethargic, and feel MUCH less hope in life. In a few days I go off Yasmin (after these two years). Now my new gyno has put me on Ortho Tricyclin, a LOW DOSE pill, which sounds much better. Incidentally, if you have no health insurance, or if you do, Planned Parenthood is an easy, low-cost, friendly place to find great female gynos. On this website, all of your posts have perhaps begun to add HOPE back into my life! I wonder if my relatively newfound witchiness, unhappiness, lethargy, sore breasts, and total lack of sex drive will miraculously go away now. Thank you all VERY MUCH for taking your time to write of your side effects! Is the sun rising?

I am so happy to have found this site. Since I have been on Yasmine (for 6 months), I have NO SEX DRIVE at all, lower back pain, really, really dry skin (I thought it was the weather)and have been moody as hell. I snap at people for the littlest thing and then the next minute I am crying. I have been feeling depressed as well. I like this pill because my periods have become really short, but I am considering a change.

I have been taking it for two months and my doctor is now taking me off it and putting me back onto ortho tricyclen (which I'd been on before for four years). I get heat flashes like clockwork, debilitating muscle cramps in my legs and feet, loss of sex drive, skin breakouts, diarrhea, headaches, problems sleeping, lower back pain and horrible stomache cramps...Basically, I constantly feel like I do when I have my period (and my doctor put me on the pill years ago solely b/c of horrible period cramps to the point of vomiting and going numb -- now, with Yasmin, the "medicine" is as bad as the initial symptoms).

Hi..I just went off Yaz last week after being on it for 18 mos for severe periods. I've had nausea, diarrhea, gained 20 lbs, sore and aching legs, and the worst lower back pain. I've been go a gastrointestinal specialist for a endoscopy and colonoscopy and everything came back normal. I've also had a CT, MRI and nerve blocks for my back but nothing helped. My daughter had a really bad reaction to the Mirena IUD and a light bulb went off that maybe the Yaz was responsible. I'm 46 and I feel like I'm 86. I literally manage to go to work (most days) and then am too sore and exhausted to do anything else except lay on my couch. It's been a week since my last pill and I have to say I feel worse today than ever. If it's the Pill, how long would it take to start feeling better? I had really hoped that this would be the answer. I used to be very fit and active and I can't believe that I might feel like this forever.
